Your Milky Way Horoscope Oct. 4-10, 2009

By Milky Way Maid

The Full Moon is at 11 degrees 10 minutes of Aries, at 2:10 am Sunday. The Aries-Libra axis highlights cardinal energy; both signs are self-starters. Full Moons in Aries always tend to push us into greater independence and self-reliance. You learn to do your own repairs or stop trying to get someone to go with you on a trip. The Moon's first aspect after that is a sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius, accenting good times and mutual benefit through friends and organizations. Work on networking if you are job-hunting or looking for a deal.
Sunday morning may be an odd time to do fixit jobs, but transiting Mercury and Mars are sextile (with Mercury opposite Uranus the handyman and mechanic), improving your hand-eye coordination. The job may go surprisingly fast. It is also good for sports that require quickness, like tennis, racquetball, foosball. Mars is at 23 Cancer in your solar fourth house, so there may be some urgency to a home repair. Make sure you know what you are doing if working on plumbing, because you may have to redo the job that evening when Mars is inconjunct Neptune.
A grand trine in air signs forms on Thursday evening: Moon in Gemini, Sun in Libra, Jupiter in Aquarius. Ideas and discussion are lively and fairly harmonious.
Mercury re-enters Libra 11:46 pm Friday, picking up where it left off on Sept. 17. Librans should try not to focus on what others want to hear, but on what needs to be said in order to restore harmony, mutual respect, and justice.
Mercury went direct on Sept. 29, but it finally leaves its storm period on Oct. 5. It speeds up quickly and you will probably see quicker responses to your inquiries.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from Oct. 3 till midday Monday. The Full Moon is in your sign early Sunday. The Moon sextiles Jupiter in Aquarius Sunday afternoon, so hang out with friends or go to the club meeting for fellowship and good times. On Monday you may wake up with a feeling that you have to hurry up with stuff, but an inconjunct to Saturn forces you to wait. Monday has a void-of-course Moon from the wee hours till it enters Taurus about midday, so you may as well stick to routines.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus from 12:33 pm Monday till Wednesday evening. The first aspect is a trine to Pluto in Capricorn about 2 pm; issues of self-determination and empowerment are on your mind. The Moon squares Jupiter Tuesday evening; be careful not to injure a parent's or boss' pride. The Moon trines Mercury-Saturn in Virgo midday Wednesday; this is excellent for serious writing such as scientific papers or analysis.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini from 5:46 pm Wednesday till Friday evening. An aspect to Pluto on Wednesday evening offers an opportunity to take control of insurance or estate matters; perhaps you start paying for your own coverage or enroll in a group plan. A grand trine in air signs sweeps you along on Thursday evening: Moon in Gemini, Sun in Libra, Jupiter in Aquarius. You thoroughly enjoy a round-table discussion, perhaps at the local campus. Friday can be very trying though, when a T-square forms between Moon in Gemini and Venus-Saturn-Mercury in Virgo on one hand, and Uranus in Pisces on the other. Home and career may be in conflict, and I'm sorry, much as you may want to clone yourself to be in two places at once, you will have to work this out the old-fashioned way.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from 9:48 pm Friday thru the weekend. The Moon's first aspect in your sign is an opposition to Pluto, so you may feel like your partner is too controlling or resent having to ask permission for small things. You have every right to be treated like an equal adult, and to have your own friends and interests, so speak up for yourself, politely but firmly.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – The Full Moon in Aries is Sunday, in your solar ninth house of college, law, publishing and religion. You are likely to feel more independent in thought, philosophy, and politics. Your leadership talents come to the fore, even without trying. Your partner, friends, and the local school may come together to facilitate a seminar or forum, when the grand air trine forms on Thursday. You are quite at home doing the emcee chores, and help everything run smoothly.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mercury is conjunct Saturn in your sign overnight Oct. 7-8. This is great for serious writing or analysis, such as research papers or grant proposals. Venus in your sign opposes Uranus in Pisces on Friday; you may feel smothered by someone you love very much, and need to learn to give each other enough room to breathe. Don't misinterpret it as the end of the relationship. This is part of a T-square between Moon in Gemini and Venus-Saturn-Mercury in Virgo on one hand, and Uranus in Pisces on the other. Try to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Sun, Moon and Jupiter form a grand trine in air signs on Thursday; so do attend events like round-tables or forums where mental energy is focused. Mercury enters your sign late Friday (11:46 pm). The phone should start ringing off the hook again, Libra, as others seek your presence and opinions. Remember that people seek you out for your balanced views, not just to hear what you think they want to hear. Pallas Athena also enters Libra this week; this helps you draft compromises and other agreements.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in your opposite sign Monday-Wednesday, and your partner may demand more of your attention. You two may host a mini-forum in your home, since your Aquarius fourth house is energized by the grand trine in air signs on Thursday evening. You're a good host, and you keep meetings under control, sticking to the agenda and time limits. The weekend will be very relaxing with Moon in Cancer, since you generally enjoy just puttering around the house. Scorpio can be very home-loving, and they make the home a quiet retreat.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon in Aries the first part of the week energizes your solar fifth house of fun, recreation, and creative expression. You may get caught with the fallout as the T-square between planets in the other mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces Gemini) forms on Friday. You rarely let yourself be bothered by life's ups and downs, and can see the humor in the worst situations. And you can always tell yourself, oh what a great story this will be to tell your friends. Mercury re-enters your solar eleventh house (Libra) of friends by the weekend, where he promises to catch up with all the gossip.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The focus is on home and family the beginning of the week when the Moon is in Aries, your solar fourth house. You may be doing home repairs, or trying to keep your partner happy. You get together with other earth signs Wednesday for serious writing or editing. Mercury in Libra squares Pluto in your sign on Saturday afternoon; you may meet a real 'doubting Thomas' type who frustrates your efforts to make them see reason. Somehow this bothers you personally, but it isn't your job to break up their mental blocks. You might however, offer some example from your personal experience and let them think it over.

AQUARIUS
- Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon squares your Jupiter on Tuesday, and could set off issues of pride or over- or under-confidence. Use any of the wonderful affirmations in New Age land to retrain your brain. A grand trine in air signs forms on Thursday evening: Moon in Gemini, Sun in Libra, Jupiter in Aquarius. Ideas and discussion are lively and fairly harmonious. You may host a forum or online town meeting, discussing books or politics. On Friday be prepared to pitch in and help a Sag friend who is snowed under with work or an emergency.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Your focus is on money issues at the beginning of the week, when the moon is in Aries. At the same time you are energized and ready for fun; perhaps you can watch the game at a friend's house rather than burning money on beers at a sports bar. Friday can be very trying though, when a T-square forms between Moon in Gemini and Venus-Saturn-Mercury in Virgo on one hand, and Uranus in Pisces on the other.

Who Will You Dress Up As This Halloween 2009? (sign by sign)

by Milky Way Maid
Halloween 2009 is dominated by a Saturn square to Pluto in Capricorn, making dark things like night, death, the underworld, and related ideas prominent. Even more worrisome, though is the Mars in Leo square Sun-Mercury in Scorpio. Mars-Mercury aspects can easily lead to arguments, vociferously and loudly expressed arguments. Sun-Mars squares tend to make people dig in their heels and refuse to give up their position. If you are with friends, or even with strangers, try to act reasonable. Offer to buy them a beer if it turns out you are wrong.
The evening also features a Moon sextile to Jupiter exact about 10 pm, so most of us will be in very good, very expansive moods. Just take care not to over-indulge in the liquid libations (i.e., know your limits). Venus is applying to a trine to Neptune, exact on Nov. 2. Woo hoo, get the phone number of whoever strikes your fancy because you could easily fall in love, big time, within days.

Aries: The Moon is in Aries. Bet you dress up as an athlete, adventurer, explorer, or even as a spy. Aries loves spy stuff and prearranged secret meetings and trench coats. Your ruler Mars is in Leo, your solar fifth house. This also accents sports but also action stars, gamblers, and other showy people. Fifth house also favors going to an amusement park or casino.
Taurus: For fun and laughs, hang around with friends or at a friend's house (Uranus in your solar eleventh house). Or you might follow your ruler Venus, which is in its other home, Libra, in your solar sixth house. That may mean dressing up as a nurse or candy-striper, or in the very Libran position as hostess.
Gemini: Twins probably will not feel like going to parties this year, not with mean old Saturn in their solar fifth house. But the energetic Moon in Aries in your eleventh will see you quite happy to hang out with friends or possibly with one special female friend.
Cancer: The Sun, Mercury and Ceres are all in your solar fifth house of parties and fun-fun-fun, so go ahead and accept that invitation. You will probably pick the one that has the best food (Ceres). You might dress up as a waitress or as Mother Nature.
Leo: Leos would probably rather watch a sporting event or play racquetball, since Mars is in your sign this Halloween. If you do go to a costume party, you are likely to dress in an athletic uniform. Maybe you better leave the hockey stick at home, though? Vesta is in your sign, too, and we know she would rather just putter around the house. That's OK, too.
Virgo: Ah, you feel so relieved to have that millstone, Saturn, off your shoulders. Your ruler, Mercury is in your solar third house, Scorpio. Here the mental powers may express as a detective or journalist. Dust off your trench coat in either case.
Libra: Saturn has just entered Libra, so my costume suggestion is to go with your spouse bound by the ol' ball-and-chain. That sums up Saturn in Libra, if you can forgive my saying so. Yes, I know, love is a many splendored thing and all that, but Halloween is good for poking good-natured fun at the stereotypes. Venus is also in Libra, so the alternative is to go as a bride (your favorite) or as a famous couple.
Scorpio: Ceres in your sign suggests dressing up as the Grim Reaper; when you arrive, get everyone to relax by saying you just came for the cake (or the beer, as the case may be). Mercury and the Sun are here, too, so you might dress up as messengers -- the Western Union guy, the Pony Express rider, or Mercury himself. Mercury is also the reporter, so you could just grab a note pad and stick a Press pass in your pocket.
Sagittarius: Sag might find their fun at a shopping center or mall; I say that because the North Node is in your solar second house. Second house suggests a costume as a banker, but they are far too stodgy for Sag to maintain as a character all evening!
Capricorn: Pluto in your sign signifies a natural fit with characters that are dead, undead, or immortal. Examples are mummies, zombies, and Dracula. The Moon is in your solar fourth house, suggesting you will feel like staying home and letting your friends come visit you. Cappy makes a wonderful host and can throw a party on short notice, if need be. But remember, if you are playing Dracula for the night, he never drinks -- wine.
Aquarius: Jupiter and Neptune are still close enough to be considered conjunct this Halloween. Combining the meanings of these two planets makes me think “legendary characters”. These characters may be real or mythical. People like Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Annie Oakley, Superman and other super-heroes, etc. You may wish to costume yourself as any of these or as legendary movie (Neptune) stars like Clark Gable, Mae West, Marlene Dietrich, and so many more.
Pisces: Uranus is in Pisces; Uranus denotes the foreigner, as well as odd folks who resist categorizing. You may costume yourself in a national costume, or talk in a pretend accent, imitate a Swedish lilt or Cockney bluster. Alternatively, you might like a costume as a machine: robot, iPod, computer, car, etc.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 27-Oct. 3, 2009

By Milky Way Maid

We have a Full Moon in Aries this coming weekend, 2:10 am Sunday if you are in the Eastern Time zone. It looks like a pretty easy omen' for the coming month, lots of sextiles and a Mars trine. Mars in Cancer trines Uranus; this is good for buying any mechanical or electronic, including cars and computers. There is only one opposition besides the Sun-Moon, and that is Mercury in Virgo to Uranus in Pisces. That can actually be very positive, prodding one into invention and innovation.

Mercury goes direct on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9:14 am, almost in time to start your work day. I can hear all of you giving a huge sigh of relief; I think the retrograde is good for a lot of things, but shopping is jut not one of them. Retrace your steps carefully, and make sure you have dotted all the i's. It's a good week for catching mistakes before they go out into the cold cruel world, as long as you don't take anything for granted. Get a second opinion, have a friend look over your revised resume, etc.

Mercury is sextiling Mars twice this week, once on Thursday and again on Sunday. The two planets are in lockstep at 21 and 23 degrees in Virgo and Cancer this week till Mercury gets back up to speed. It's a good aspect for sports performance, as Mars is sports and athletics, and Mercury is hand-eye coordination. You might see a lot of good catches on NFL Sunday. It's good for asserting (Mars) one's rights in person or by mail/email. Pallas is also nearby at 29 Virgo; service people deliver with a smile.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from 5:21 am Saturday thru the weekend. The Full Moon at 1:10 am Sunday Oct. 4, is at 11 degrees 10 minutes Aries. Check your natal chart to see if the Moon contacts natal planets, and take clues from that. The Moon's first aspect after the Full is a sextile to Jupiter midday Sunday; this sounds very auspicious, and very lucky for Arians. Jupiter's placement suggests benefit from groups, clubs and friends. Update your network of contacts. Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar sixth house; you may finally figure out the cause of a health issue, or get a correct diagnosis.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar fifth house; you feel like having fun again. Plans or invites for fall events arrive; your hands are more skilled at artistic efforts. Look around for art exhibits or fall festivals to go to because you are more appreciative of skilled work now. You notice more details. You may even pick the NFL winners of the week. The Mars-Mercury-Uranus aspects this week could help you invent, or tweak your blog, for greater satisfaction.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar fourth house; communications with family members improve, especially if you will consider starting regular family business meetings (not at dinner time). You might be very inventive about juggling bills this week. You may even find a way to avoid any interest or fees. Please, do tell us all about it. Also home and career may be in greater conflict for the short term; maybe you have to cover for an absent co-worker.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar third house; delayed mail or other messages finally arrive; you may have to revise and update brochures. I suggest you make a habit of requesting a 'delivery confirmation' when sending packages or important emails. A talk with your spouse about the kids is productive on Wednesday or Saturday. Also on those days, you could negotiate a change in terms for your cellphone, or find a buyer for the rest of your contract term. Perhaps the telecom may have to replace a malfunctioning phone.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar second house; personal finance matters are cleared up, and delayed checks finally arrive. Make sure you get receipts for your expenses. Best days this week come on the weekend, when the Moon is in Aries. Perhaps you dash up to campus to see how the kids are settling in to college life. The Sun is in Libra, your solar third house, and Pallas and Mercury soon follow -- Sharpen up your speech-making and writing skills; it is possible you may get the call to serve as lecturer or emcee.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar first house; maybe you redo your hair or other appearance. Your verbal clarity improves to your usual precision. You could look lucky on Thursday and this coming Sunday. Mercury and Mars sextile each other on both days, giving you even better hand-eye coordination than usual. This is good for sports or for your beloved crafts, too. Your eagle eyes may locate lost objects or spreadsheet errors with equal skill.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar twelfth house; perhaps you have been in a private mood lately, but Mercury wants you to get ready to come out of your cloister. So plan fall get-togethers and parties. Libras throw the very best parties, with wonderful food and lovely china; they know who should meet whom and do the introductions so beautifully. Best days this week are Mon.-Wed., when the Moon is in cool Aquarius.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar eleventh house; you may have to re-enter your data on a club or association referral service; you re-apply for membership in a club or for a member offer. Make sure memberships and subscriptions have not lapsed by accident. Do make a point of getting out of your lair to play, too; why not try picking the NFL winners of the week or something like that? Best days this week are Sunday, and Wed. night thru Friday, when the Moon is in compatible signs.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar tenth house; a job may come through, or other details about workplace changes may finally be shared with staff. In fact, your head may spin with all the changes in direction; I wonder if you might be asked to float from department to dept. to help where needed. Sag sure doesn't mind a little variety. Best days this week in general are when the Moon is in the compatible sign of Aquarius (Mon.-Wed.).

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from Sunday till Monday morning. The Moon opposes Mars in Cancer that morning, which implies a battle of wills with one's spouse. Great competitiveness, so it's good for athletics. An afternoon trine to Mercury in your solar ninth favors working on your book project or school work. A sextile to Uranus and trine to Saturn in the evening helps you concentrate on working out that unusual idea you have. Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar ninth house; a publishing project is finally ready, or your college application accepted.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from 7:07 am Monday till Wednesday evening. Monday has a smooth Sun-Moon trine, helping teams work harmoniously. On Tuesday evening the Moon joins Jupiter, making you perhaps too expansive but in a good mood. Careful what you promise someone. Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar eighth house, so you may finally get an insurance or estate matter cleared up. You may be a bit foggy Wednesday morning due to the Moon conjunct Neptune in your sign; make extra coffee?

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Mercury goes direct Tuesday in your solar seventh house, so your spouse may suddenly get talkative or drop notes or emails to you. It's nice that he's talking but you may get upset over his plans for the kids; try to get him to scale down to something more appropriate for their ages. An invite for a public appearance may finally come through. The Moon is in Pisces from 7:26 pm Wednesday till Saturday morn. A Moon opposition to Venus makes a goodbye hit home; keep in touch with children off to college via email, and to take a larger view of these brief partings.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 20-26, 2009

By Milky Way Maid

Happy birthday to lovely Libra!
The Sun enters Libra on Tuesday at 5:19 pm. Librans pride themselves on being fair. They try to listen to the other side before making a decision. But ponder for a moment what fairness and equality mean. They are not necessarily the same thing! Two people who make very different incomes but are expected to contribute the same amount of money to the rent, are NOT in a fair situation. Think about how two people do a waltz together; one has to step back when the other steps forward, and vice versa. That is harmony.

The Sun is conjunct a retrograde Mercury on Sunday morning. This is good for sales (and finds) of marked-down merchandise or anything at rummage or flea markets; just check it over carefully and make sure of the size.

Then Mercury conjoins Saturn (and Pallas) at 25 degrees of Virgo on Tuesday at 5 am. Mercury opposes Uranus Wednesday at 24 degrees of Virgo and Pisces. Mercury-Saturn lends great concentration and organizational ability. Mercury-Uranus on the other hand can have problems focusing; it can be very restless. It also likes new ideas but is not open to others' ideas. So maybe you might need to burn up some physical/nervous energy before settling in to a task. You might have to make a list to help you keep your nose to the grindstone.

Venus enters earthy Virgo on Sunday morning. The positive expression of this is to serve others in whatever way expresses your values (Venus). The negative expression may lead to a great deal of judgmentalism and a need to always be right. Virgo hon, you may be close to perfect, but it is not fun to be around someone who expects others to be perfect. We are after all human. This month, make a point of appreciating the absolute perfection expressed in nature's designs.

Mars in Cancer is inconjunct Jupiter in Aquarius at 7:50 pm on Wednesday. This often produces an abundance of physical energy but it needs to be focused and directed, often in a creative or in a disciplined way. Good outlets for this energy are dance and yoga. With Mars in Cancer, let's add swimming to the list; not just splashing around, but several long laps in an Olympic pool or perhaps some pool calisthenics.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Enjoy the last golden weeks of summer, Aries, because soon Saturn will enter your opposite sign, and things might feel very different, very quickly. It isn't like a house will fall on you, no; I'm not forecasting any disasters or anything. It's just that marriage and other partnerships might start to feel like a real job, you know what I mean? Of course the benefits can be extraordinary when it does pay off. Mars in the solar fourth house wants to grill dinner outside while the weather is still warm.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Vesta is in your solar fourth house now, where you would willingly vegetate at home alone if you could. You are quite happy puttering around the house thru October. Saturn moves into your solar sixth house of health and jobs. You may finally get a job, altho not your dream career job. Also Saturn lends the discipline to finally stick to a health regimen. Ceres is already there, trying to get you to eat some veggies. Pull out your old Victory Garden cookbook and plan your weekly menus.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – Watch all your college tuition and book fees for errors or extra charges. Mars in your solar second house all month (till mid-Oct.) is socking you with fees and commissions, etc. so comb thru your statements like a hawk. Uranus in your solar career house is opposing Mercury, Saturn and Pallas in your solar fourth, which could lead to a lot of arguments at home and at work. Or at home about work. Maybe you are spending too much time in the office or on the road and neglecting family. Search your soul and try to make an accommodation.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – Sunday's Sun-Mercury conjunction may have you holding a rummage sale or stopping by on your way to brunch. Mars in your solar first house has been firing you up and revving your engines. Cancer is a very active, cardinal sign but Mars puts you on the move. You might appreciate a foot soak or massage at the end of the day. Baby yourself. Your solar third and ninth houses are very contentious; if you are not involved in politics in some way, you might get active (leafletting, getting signatures on a petition, sending messages to your reps).

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Your temper may be your downfall this month so make a point of working on that. Vesta in your sign has you quite happy being alone, which is very uncharacteristic of Leo. Keep a tight rein on personal finances because surprise charges can crop up; check those credit card statements for mystery charges. Best days this week have the Moon in Sag, Wed.-Fri. Thursday is the easiest, with lots of sextiles for progress on personal goals and a fun Mars for sports and sitting by a fireplace.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Venus enters earthy Virgo on Sunday morning.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Moon is in Libra from Sunday till the wee hours Monday. The Moon trines Jupiter early, then Neptune in the afternoon, in air signs; a movie might be on the agenda for the day. On Tuesday the Sun enters your sun sign, so happy birthday, and it couldn't happen to a lovelier person. I predict a very transformative year, due to the square to Pluto in Capricorn. Your home situation is also likely to change; either a renovation, remodeling, or yes foreclosure are possible. Your home might also become your workplace; see about creating a studio or office there.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio from 12:52 am Monday till Wednesday morning. Monday the Moon is at the midpoint of Venus and Pluto; you may be bombarded with messages from a friend or admirer. A swim before or after work on Tuesday will feel great. The boss may favor you with a promotion or a big job Tuesday. You could get a second wind and then work late at home.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag from 7:43 am Wednesday till Friday evening. Your fourth and tenth house axis may be under strain on Wednesday; I see you dashing from one to the other and your schedule disrupted. Your mother may be the cause or your last-resort babysitter. Thursday is a lot less eventful, but it shows a lot of adjustments made with a spirit of cooperation. Have a set speech ready Friday if you get bad news or a change in work hours. It's time to roll with the punches.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Monday's Moon in Scorpio favors get-togethers with friends. The Moon is in Capricorn from 6:19 pm Friday thru the weekend. Friday evening looks unfavorable for that weekly date with your spouse, not with a Moon square the Sun. Saturday morn is much better, with a Moon trine Venus, or the previous Sunday night. Saturday morning favors just being with your special someones, sprucing up the home, enjoying art, music or nature.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mercury, Pallas and Saturn are closely inconjunct Neptune in Aquarius this week. You might have a very creative and enjoyable time indulging arts, crafts or photography. The fact that your solar eighth house is activated may just mean that you recharge your batteries this way, or it can mean that any attempt to dodge taxes or other fees may be on your mind. Ceres in your solar ninth house approaches a trine to the same Neptune; Ceres wants to feed your mind with classes or books.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Your spouse or other partner will look like the villain to you, expecting you to maintain records and ledgers, and coming down hard if you mess up. Pisces is not usually adapted for that stuff, so try to automate this as much as possible. Mars in your solar fifth house wants to take you swimming while the pool is still open. Vesta has entered your solar sixth house where you just want to be left alone to lick your wounds for awhile.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 13-19, 2009

By Milky Way Maid

People with natal planets or house cusps at 24 to 26 degrees of the signs will feel all these aspects much more than the rest of us! Zowie I have not seen such a series of aspects all in one week, all hitting the same degrees since, since I don't know when. The Moon is conjunct Saturn midday Friday just before conjoining the Sun at the New Moon -- at 2:44 pm. at 25 degrees Virgo. Mercury is at 29 degrees, and Pallas is at 22 degrees. They oppose Uranus, trine the North Node, and squares Pluto in an out-of-sign aspect. The Virgo cluster is in the eighth house of insurance and other pooled funds in a chart set for Washington, DC. The insurance industry is not sitting on its hands during this discussion of healthcare reforms. It is odd that Mars in the sixth house of health issues is about to leave that house, and makes no aspects to anything except to oppose the ascendant. That seems to suggest that actual health matters are not part of the discussion, as the battleground has gone to the insurers and other financial centers.

The President is the tenth house with Scorpio therein. One ruler, Mars, is not engaged, as we have pointed out. The other ruler, Pluto, is squaring the Virgo stellium and is in the twelfth house, the house of self-undoing. There is always the chance that the twelfth house may denote a behind-the-scenes effort that forces the issue, or even denote the “plutocracy”, the real rulers behind every presidency or prime minister in the Western world. Is the president getting his backing from this plutocracy rather than from the American people?

The ninth house of national politics is Libra, ruled by Venus. But Venus is not making aspects to the ninth, and will not get to the New Moon degree for about a month. So I expect the debate to continue at least that long. About the only good thing about this chart is that the Sun, Moon and Mercury are all separating from Saturn.

Venus opposes Chiron during the wee hours Monday. The people at The Magi Society associate Chiron with falling in love and with marriage (although not necessarily a happy marriage, as witness the disaster that was the Princess Diana-Prince Charles match. So let's just say that one ought to be very cautious about those attractive people you meet under this aspect. You might fall in love, and it might be the talk of the town for awhile, but it may cost you more than you want to pay. Check out this other person before getting in too deep.

Saturn opposes Uranus on Tuesday morning at 8:51 am EDT, at 24 degrees Virgo-Pisces, upsetting everyone's apple cart. Venus opposes Neptune that evening at 24 degrees Leo-Aquarius. Then the Moon joins Venus, and the Moon opposes Jupiter and then Neptune. Holy macaroni, what a lot of oppositions. Love's illusions are revealed and leaves you in tears. Great for attending classic performances of La Traviata and similar love tragedies like Romeo and Juliet.

Mercury squares Pluto Thursday morn at 7:46 am, in the first degree of Libra-Capricorn. Pluto is investigation, among other things, and Mercury is news or reports. You may have investigational reports due about this time, and they will have a great deal of information and research packed into them. The news may feature some important stories on the plutocracy, on insurance, or on DNA research.

The Sun conjoins Saturn Thursday at 25 degrees Virgo. Sun-Saturn combinations impress one with a sense of duty and with responsibility.
AND Virgo's ruler Mercury retrogrades into Virgo on Thursday late at night.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Midday Sunday brings a Moon-Mars conjunction in your solar fourth house of home and family; this tends to produce argument so it's a good time to practice biting your tongue. Mon. thru Wed. sees contacts to Venus in your solar fifth house of children opposed by Neptune; you worry that a child is in love with love and rushes into a disastrous liaison. A New Moon Friday in your solar sixth house puts the focus on health and work issues. Stick to your regimen and see your healthcare provider re nagging problems. Aries as a patient lacks patience! Sometimes they overdo on the spicy foods, too. In their favor is a take-charge attitude and getting matters taken care of asap. Saturn here may saddle you with long hours in a low-paying situation.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Your ruler Venus has a rough week, opposing Chiron and Neptune on your solar midheaven and IC. It is good for charitable work, though, or volunteering at food banks, meal programs, and nursing homes. A Moon-Mars conjunction on Sunday can cause argument with a neighbor or sibling, or in a local business. Bite your tongue and walk away; if you feel you have been
walked on once too often, then by all means talk it over but wait till tempers have cooled. The Venus-Neptune opposition in your fourth-tenth houses can mean you miss important childhood events due to work. Really now, which are you more likely to remember twenty years from now?

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – A Moon-Mars conjunction in your solar second house on Sunday can take a cut (Mars) to your finances. Mars is fees, commissions, taxes, and other “cuts”. Scan your bills for any fees that you do not understand or are made-up charges. The New Moon in Virgo on Friday squares your Sun from your fourth house, putting the accent on your home and family. A family member may leave your home, altho that can be a good thing if they are going off to college or getting married. You will feel the empty nest acutely, tho. Get busy with cleaning out closets to get your mind off that.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – Mars is halfway through your sign but for most of the week, is oddly disconnected from the rest of the planets. Oh, that's OK, then you won't have so darn many distractions getting you off track. Mars does make aspects to the Moon Sunday (conjunction) and Thursday evening (sextile), triggering strong feelings which could get the better of you. Try to work them off with a good swim or by cooking up a huge pot of your famous chili. The Venus-Neptune opposition Tuesday affects your money houses, so watch bills for unexplained charges and make sure you have been credited correctly.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Leo, baby, we love ya so we gotta pull you aside and ask how you know this person you have gone ga-ga over? Who introduced you? Maybe you ought to check this person out before getting in so deep that you can't get out without a loss. Venus opposes Chiron early Monday, and opposes Neptune on Tuesday afternoon. Neither is good for objectivity, so lean on a good friend for advice. Use the internet to find out more about your intended, and let's hope there are no ugly surprises lurking there.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – You'll be rode hard and put to bed wet, to quote an old cowboy saying. The New Moon is in your sign but conjunct that old Saturn and opposite Uranus, waiting to upset your applecart. Your plans may get rearranged quite suddenly so be ready to roll with Uranus' punches. In spite of Saturn's presence, this NM can be a usable opportunity period especially if you are in some kind of scientific (Saturn) field. The exact opportunity period is half hour before and after the 2:44 pm NM on Friday, Sept. 18.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Your ruler Venus opposes Chiron and Neptune this week, which does you no favors in whatever sectors they occupy in your natal chart. See Leo's notes above. Be sensible and check out any new persons you meet. Get all the dish there is to dish about him/her from your friends. Ceres in your sign says to just tend to your own 'cooking', whether literal or figurative. You can benefit also from nurturing yourself with healthy food, spa or massage treatments, or beautifying masques. (Libra rules skin.) Learn to make your own skin care treatments and save a few bucks. The info is out there on the web or in libraries.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Your co-ruler Mars is conjunct the Moon midday Sunday in your solar ninth house; strong emotions can get the better of you so work them off in a long swim. Or you might immerse yourself, figuratively speaking, in your studies or in a book project. Mars also sextiles the Moon on Thursday evening; by then you should have a handle on it and can express yourself more constructively. Your solar eleventh house of friends and clubs is activated by the New Moon Friday; you may even assume a chairmanship or other officer position at least as a temporary fill-in.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The New Moon in Virgo affects your solar tenth house of career and reputation. It is possible that a work assignment could end suddenly; it is also possible you may shift into a telecommuting position or an on-call status. Pluto is at the beginning of a long visit to your solar second house of finances; your casual attitude towards money is due for a shakeup (if you have not already been shaken, that is). A long-distance love (Venus in the ninth) slips away (Neptune) without you nearby to kindle the flame. Reviewing your insurance (and wills) this week can be productive as you find out what is actually paid or not paid by the plan.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Your spouse may be emotional on Sunday so try to soothe before he/she feels overwhelmed. The Venus-Neptune opposition on Tuesday affects your money houses, so check bills and make sure to note due dates. The New Moon in Virgo on Friday affects your solar ninth house of college, law, publishing and politics. Projects may suddenly (Uranus) be put on hold or canceled, or picked up. Students may change majors. Cases may receive final verdicts or be dismissed.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon-Mars conjunction on Sunday can negatively affect your health; avoid the spicy stuff for now, and forbid arguments at the dinner table. Monday and Tuesday will be very trying times for marriage or other partnerships; check the books if you suspect a business partner is skimming funds. The New Moon is in your solar eighth house of wills and insurance. Perhaps you actually have some input into the current discussion on national healthcare. It is possible you suddenly are saddled (Saturn) with the responsibility of handling an estate.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon-Mars conjunction Sunday in your solar fifth house of fun can lead to intense emotions; a love affair deepens. The New Moon on Friday affects your solar seventh house. Your marriage may suddenly fall apart, or you may suddenly receive and accept a proposal. Saturn tends to solidify relationships into formal channels, so that someone you have been seeing could decide to make things official. However, pushing matters into a decision prematurely is inviting them to an early end.

Mercury Retrograde through the Houses

by Milky Way Maid

I have had lots of experience with Mercury retrograde. Perhaps because I was born with Mercury retrograde in my chart, I have taken more notice of its effects.

Please do not dread these weeks while Mercury is retrograde. I have tried to note ways that it may be positive in each house, as given below. Mercury retrograde can bring problems to light, so that they can finally be properly fixed. You may find out the truth about a company, person or issue by chance or by checking things out on the internet. You may have made a search before, or asked the same person before, but at last you ask in a way that elicits the desired information.

And lastly, Mercury retrograde can be a fine time to travel memory lane. Pick up the photo album. Talk about the great times you had as a kid. Play that CD or DVD again, or re-read that classic novel and discover new layers of meaning.

Mercury Retrograde in First House: May cause you to misspeak more often, forgetfulness, or make your written communications garbled. Proofread emails and documents before sending, and think how someone will interpret what you say before blurting things out. It can however be a good time to get feedback from others on your thoughts. Some chance of getting lost, taking a wrong turn, falls, stumbles, etc.

Mercury Retrograde in Second House: Affects money and financial accounts, income and sources of income, material possessions. Double-check those bank statements and other financial papers. You may misplace a possession and have to backtrack to find it. You may buy something you never use, or it may not work right.

Mercury Retrograde in Third House: Minor injuries to legs or arms. Hitting hand on doors or furniture. Lost or misplaced mail or email; check the spam folder. Transit difficulties such as getting lost, taking a wrong turn, traffic jams, being given wrong directions. Printers can get overtime or rush orders needed to issue corrected documents and mailings.

Mercury Retrograde in Fourth House: Can mess up communicating with family members, so make sure everyone is clear on who is picking up whom and when, and where. Having errors in home repairs or having to redo home improvements. The repairman doesn't show up or is late.

Mercury Retrograde in Fifth House: Romantic dates go wrong or are canceled. You go out on a double date and wind up switching partners. Changes in schedule or cast for plays and other performances. Actors may forget lines or have to ad-lib when things go wrong. Also sports events may have surprising winners. You gotta roll with the punches with this placement. Also dust off that old game from the attic and re-discover how much fun it is.

Mercury Retrograde in Sixth House: Lab tests or x-rays miss the diagnosis. Surgery may be canceled or delayed due to equipment malfunction. The healthcare provider may be ill. Having to undergo a second surgery to fix what was missed.

Mercury Retrograde in Seventh House: Keep to prepared statements if speaking in public. Try not to laugh too hard at a spouse's errors. Performers may be brought back for an encore appearance.

Mercury Retrograde in Eighth House: Can cause confusion and misunderstandings regarding insurance or what you expect to inherit. Re-read those insurance policies and wills. A corrected claim may submitted successfully this time.

Mercury Retrograde in Ninth House: Can cause snafus in printing your latest book, or lost/misplaced records or homework at college. Keep backup copies of your final papers or book draft. A court case may be rescheduled or dismissed. The lawyer may steal your money. Canceled airline flights or missed connections. Other travel snafus.

Mercury Retrograde in Tenth House: Can cause cutbacks at work, rescheduled meetings or temporary down time due to any cause (but often for computer downtime). And of course the dreaded pink slip or firing. Temporary layoffs. But also work orders and overtime on a rush basis, often to issue corrected versions of company statements or mailings. The boss overhears you say something embarrassing.

Mercury Retrograde in Eleventh House: Can cause canceled or rescheduled get-togethers with friends, or rearranged club meetings where the guest speaker misses a flight. Be prepared with a Plan B; that may mean getting your notes and Powerpoint together if you have to substitute for the original speaker.

Mercury Retrograde in Twelfth House: Possibly the worst place for it, due to shooting yourself in the foot! You blurt things out in interviews when you admit that you did not do much of some key operation. You may also suffer from others' errors, so ask for a review of any decision or fee that goes against you. Gad, maybe you should just shut up and stay home reading a book!

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 6-12, 2009

By Milky Way Maid

The Labor Day holiday falls on the second Monday of the month this year. Mercury goes retrograde that day, which does not bode well for traveling to your chosen vacation site. Staying put can be the best vacation. The Moon opposes Ceres, so something may be wrong with the food served; be very conscious of food safety. Aries there may mean that the food is merely burned (hope you like your chops 'savage style'). However the Moon sextiles that powerful Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius, so a good time is had by all, no matter what.

Venus at 18 degrees Leo opposes Jupiter on Friday at 3:54 am EDT. Leo always finds it hard to restrain their spending when they want to make a show of it. They may be sorely tempted to do so today, but expressing one's love doesn't have to cost anything. Carving initials into a new piece of cement, serenading your love from the sidewalk or yard, stomping a heart into the snow(?), or dedicating your latest work to your significant other are all good and time-tested. Best to stay out of malls. You may meet new people, possibly through current or past partners, possibly in public places.

Mercury stations retrograde at 6 degrees Libra and stations direct at 21 degrees Virgo. Check your natal or progressed charts for points activated by these degrees. I will have the direct station making angles to natal Sun and Jupiter, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for some good news at that time. Please hold a good thought for me; I can use all the help I can get.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries Sunday till 6:18 am Tuesday. The Moon in Aries opposes Mercury (slowing to its stationary retrograde) at 10 am; don't take anything said at face value today. The Moon squares Mars late evening, and trines Venus overnight. You may try to force events today but succeed by soft-pedaling and sweet-talking. It's lovely for a midnight rendezvous. Mercury retrograde affects your solar seventh house of partners and the public. Keep to prepared statements if speaking in public. Try not to laugh too hard at a spouse's errors.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus early Tuesday till 12:17 pm Thursday. The Moon sextiles Mars in Cancer Tuesday evening; good for recuperation and for asserting yourself. Taurus gets squares all day Wednesday from the Moon to Venus in Leo and to the conjunction in Aquarius; you might be the rope in someone's tug-of-war, so tie a knot and hang on. You do get a trine to Saturn in Virgo overnight; when you do the responsible thing. A sextile to Uranus in Pisces early Thursday can give you unusual dreams before waking.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini midday Thursday till 4:20 pm Saturday. The Moon trines Mercury in Libra Thursday evening; a trine can be good even with Mercury retrograde, because you can uncover the real scoop if you snoop around enough. Friday evening is exciting: your Moon trines Jupiter, squares the Sun and sextiles Venus. Jupiter in your solar ninth house can help you pass exams, or get an editor's OK. You might celebrate with an impromptu party but clear the ground rules with the parents first; you might elect to go to a local watering hole or nightclub instead. Moon square Saturn on Saturday morn has you puttering around the house doing chores. Moon square Uranus in the solar tenth house favors getting noticed, possibly on radio or on the internet.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon enters Cancer on Saturday afternoon. It soon opposes Pluto again, suggesting a power struggle over making your own choices in life. The Moon squares Mercury (which is retrograde) in Libra that evening. This square to a retrograde Mercury in your solar fourth house can mess up communicating with family members, so make sure everyone is clear on who is picking up whom and when, and where.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Venus in Leo sextiles Ceres Monday evening. You can treat your loved one to a gourmet meal, preferably one cooked by your own manicured hands. Fire signs often enjoy using fire to cook, either in a grill, barbecue, or in making a flambe dish. They enjoy gathering around campfires, fireplaces, or candles. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar first and seventh houses; great for public appearances or getting noticed. You might release an album or debut on stage.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mercury goes retrograde in your solar second house, so double-check those bank statements and other financial papers. And try not to act so superior when you catch someone's mistake, OK? The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your health signs; you must avoid excess in anything. The most positive spin on this aspect is that you may be able to comfort others who are in the hospital.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Mercury retrograding in your sign may cause you to misspeak more often, or make your written communications garbled. Proofread emails and documents before sending, and think how someone will interpret what you say before blurting things out. It can however be a good time to get feedback from others on your thoughts. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar eleventh and fifth houses; this really sounds great for an audition that you learn of thru a friend. You may also succeed when giving a group presentation on your proposed art commission.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Mercury retrograde is in your solar twelfth house, possibly the worst place for it. Take care that you do not shoot yourself in the foot when blurting things out; remember, not everyone needs to know the whole story, and it is possible to give away too much information. (Especially in that interview when you admit that you did not do much of some key operation.) You may also suffer from others' errors, so ask for a review of any decision or fee that goes against you. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar fourth and tenth houses; job-hunters could get some luck at last, especially if the workplace is a home-type business, like realty, apartments, or assisted-living.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Mercury retrograde in your solar eleventh house can cause canceled or rescheduled get-togethers with friends, or rearranged club meetings where the guest speaker misses a flight. Be prepared with a Plan B; that may mean getting your notes and Powerpoint together if you have to substitute for the original speaker. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar ninth and third houses; this can bring great news regarding a legal case or publishing project. It may be best to have others speak for you, whether that means your lawyer, secretary or spouse. Check mail and email carefully for important messages.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Mercury retrograde in your solar tenth house can cause cutbacks at work, rescheduled meetings or temporary down time in communications networks. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar money houses, and I know you really hate to hear that. I am sure you keep good records of your own, so have that to back up your request for corrections to official bank records or other financial accounts.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - Mercury retrograde in your solar ninth house can cause snafus in printing your latest book, or lost/misplaced records or homework at college. Keep backup copies of your final papers or book draft. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar first and seventh houses; great for public appearances or getting noticed. You might release an album or debut on stage.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - Mercury retrograde in your solar eighth house can cause confusion and misunderstandings regarding insurance or what you expect to inherit. Re-read those insurance policies and wills. The Venus-Jupiter opposition on Friday affects your solar health houses; you may enjoy visiting friends in the hospital and decide to volunteer there. However, avoid any type of excess in food, drink or other consumables.
