Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 19-25, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

The Moon inconjunct Pluto and Mars in Capricorn on Sunday, Dec. 1
9 can make many of us frustrated with the powers that be. Try some attitude therapy: repeat that little prayer of St. Francis about gaining the wisdom to know the difference... The Moon is actually the focal point of a Yod, with Venus in Scorpio making the other leg of the elongated triangle. (You may have to give up the tug-of-war with a loved one, and accept them as they are.) My personal experience is that Yods are not lucky at all. I know someone with a birthday on this day, so it should be an interesting year of changes for him. (Also, Venus, Pluto and Mars can also relate to issues with cash and debt; many of us may be forced to deal with money in a much more controlled way. Venus is cash and income, Mars is debt, Pluto is the holder of the debt, the mortgage, or having to declare bankruptcy.)
Mercury in Sag squares Uranus at 26 degrees of Pisces at 6:30 pm Monday. Do not buy any mechanical or electronic items the previous weekend, and wait till this aspect passes. Trines and sextiles are much better for buying such items, if you want them to be as trouble-free as possible. It is good for brainstorming or inventing (well, tinkering might be a better word). Oh, and do be careful when setting up holiday light displays; watch for safety, and don't overload fuses.
The Sun enters Capricorn at 6:38 pm Tuesday, Dec. 21. Happy birthday to all Capricorns this month. The ingress is marked by a Full Moon this time, at 29 degrees Gemini (opposing Mercury), plus a lunar eclipse on the Winter Solstice. The Sun is nearly conjunct Pluto and Mars, while Mercury squares Jupiter (exact at 8 pm Tuesday). Late degrees can be very fortunate, and a Full Moon at the end of Gemini could signal an upswing in the fortunes of newspapers, media, writers in general, and brokers.
A chart for the Sun ingress, set for Washington DC, has the Moon in the twelfth house, and Sun-Mercury-Mars-Pluto-North Node in the sixth house of health and jobs. The unemployment reports will be a big concern for the public (Moon, which squares the Midheaven). Jupiter and Uranus square Sun-Mercury in Capricorn, probably magnifying the distress and worry over bad news. It is hard for me to find some reason to expect good news from this transit, and I can only hope that people go ahead and have a cheerful if modest holiday celebration. Christmas comes only once a year, and we all take comfort in our annual traditions.
The Ascendant at 24 degrees Cancer puts the accent on family, home, traditions, and our emotional connections with others. So pull out the oldest ornaments and hang them on the tree, dig up the most traditional carols and sing them together, and in general just have yourselves a merry little Christmas now.

On Christmas morning, the Moon opposes Neptune at 4:28 am (and trines Mercury), giving everything a glamorous and magical shine. People will tend to want to cocoon this morning, and possibly nip a bit too much of the eggnog. Music will seem more beautiful and truer, so play all your seasonal music and enjoy it to the hilt. Rock around the Christmas tree, if that's your style, but make room for Bing, too.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - The Sun is conjunct Mercury in the last degree of Sag at 8:23 pm Sunday. Late degrees can be very powerful if you have them in your natal chart; try doing a candle ceremony or just some kind of affirmation to yourself; good themes are anything to do with publishing or higher education (because this is in your solar ninth house), so you might pledge to finish that manuscript that languishes in a drawer. The Full Moon on Wednesday in Gemini reinforces the theme, since it occurs in your solar third house of communications, writing, transit, trips, and local politics. At least consider journaling or blogging, to help you get your thoughts together.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – A Full Moon in your second house (Gemini) on Tuesday would seem to favor efforts in areas of writing or bookkeeping. The opposition to the Sun and Mercury in Sag reinforces that axis; you might try to finish up at least a writing proposal so you can start getting paid for your scribbles. Keep at it, Taur, little by little you can get it done. Oh and hey, check out the Writer's Store for software just tailored for specific projects, like novels or screenplays.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini as the week begins, where it remains till early Tuesday. Sunday, Sun-Mercury is conjunct at 8:23 pm, in your solar seventh house of partners; this favors a chatty, upbeat date with your partner. Other aspects that day point to making adjustments, material or mental. You may have to accept differences with your partner or others. Monday will be rather challenging, again with inconjuncts denoting adjustments, and the Moon squaring Jupiter then Uranus = avoid overdoing. Watch out for malfunctioning machines, when Mercury in Sag squares Uranus on Monday evening. A Full Moon at 3:13 am Tuesday seems auspicious for Geminis in general; see above notes.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from 4:22 am Tuesday till Thursday morn. The Moon opposes Pluto at 5 degrees of Capricorn midday Tuesday; give up the power struggle, already, or at least call a truce for the holidays. A Moon-Mars opposition late Tuesday is a good time to bite your tongue. A Moon-Venus trine early Wednesday gets the day off on a loving vibe; you might get an early gift from a child, or win a little something as a door prize. The Moon trines Jupiter and then Uranus late Wed-early Thurs, making you feel so marvelous and generous, but hang onto your purse nevertheless.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – The Moon is in Leo from 7:51 am Thursday till mid-morning Saturday. Leos like to do the holidays up big, so I imagine you are frustrated by the necessity to limit outlays this year. Just pull out your best stuff and dust it off, and it is FINE. Pull out your holiday finery and recombine elements for a smashing new outfit. Splurge on small things, like chocolates at each place setting, etc. Christmas eve may seem lonely till you pick up the phone and start connecting with those who can't make it this year. Christmas Day has several inconjuncts denoting adjustments, so I don't know if that means bad weather delays your guests or if events have to be canceled or what. You just learn how to make lemonade out of lemons; if no one can come, perhaps you could call up a local military base to ask if there are soldiers who are stuck there this holiday, and open your home to them.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo from 10:14 am Saturday and thru the following Monday morning. Let's not get too picky over any of the perfectly swell gifts you've received this morning. Thank the givers profusely for thinking so much of you. And maybe some other gift will go just perfect with that sweater or this knit set. Moon in Virgo trines Sun-Pluto in Capricorn on Sat. evening; I think one of the kids will be in charge of hosting duties, so just be the gracious guest and be of service here and there. It isn't your show this time around, so just enjoy not having to worry about everything going off without a hitch.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Full Moon on Tuesday is in the last degree of Gemini, in your solar ninth house of publishing, law, college or religion. Keep after any projects related to those areas, and seek an ombudsman if needed. The Sun-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, in your solar tenth house of work, receives some hits this week, so expect key news. Perhaps your company changes name, presidents, or headquarters. Perhaps you ARE the new CEO, etc. At any rate, many new opportunities await you this year and next.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Venus in your sign is inconjunct Moon in Gemini, forming a Yod with Mars-Pluto in Capricorn on Sunday – AND Sun-Mercury in Sag is near the release point. Writing and related activities are highlighted tho I cannot promise money from such. The Full Moon on Tuesday falls across your third-ninth house axis. This should activate your writing genes and other communications activities. Third house rules the above plus neighbors, siblings and other relatives, transit, and local politics. At least write a letter to the editor of your local paper, and see if anyone salutes.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Sun is conjunct Mercury in the last degree of Sag at 8:23 pm Sunday. Late degrees can be very powerful if you have them in your natal chart; try doing a candle ceremony or just some kind of affirmation to yourself; good themes are anything to do with communications or education, so you might pledge to finish that manuscript that languishes in a drawer.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Cappy is hogging a lot of the astrological activity this week. The Sun and Pluto are conjunct in your sign next Sunday (Dec. 26), but things are building up to the conjunction. You may want to control everything; no one has complete control over everything but you at least have yourself under control. You know that the only thing you can change, really, is yourself and your own attitude. The Full Moon Tuesday, and the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Sunday in Sag, are activating your sixth-twelfth house axis. You may have to see a doc, or visit sick friends in the hospital. So your mind may be on serious events in your own circle this holiday season rather than gifting and shopping. Have faith in the docs, and try to cheer up ailing loved ones.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Air sign Aquarians find the Sun-Mercury conjunction in Sag, and the Full Moon in Gemini, fully compatible. The Full Moon falls in your solar fifth house of children, creativity and the arts, so here again the possibility of a writing project may beckon. An influential contact (Sun-Mercury opposite) or networking can be very productive this month.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Sun-Mercury conjunction in Sag and the Full Moon in Gemini on Tuesday fall across your fourth-tenth house axis. Possibly a home-based business will commence or start to pan out. Some legal matters may have to be attended to (Venus in Scorpio), so perhaps your business will be formalized as a company. Best wishes and I hope that this venture provides a happy and prosperous New Year.
