Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 26-Jan. 1, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Sunday the 26 of December is known as Boxing Day; this year it features the Sun conjunct Pluto at 5 degrees of Capricorn. This aspect helps one not only remake oneself, but can help you discover your own power to make or remake your life. Pluto is also sometimes called the wipeout planet; in this case you can wipe the slate clean and start over. Or you can clear out everything that you no longer need or use, and enjoy having enough room to breathe.

Mars in Capricorn squares Saturn at 16 degrees of Libra at 10:29 am Wednesday. Mars-Saturn squares often are accompanied by breakage, including of bones. Be careful out there, be safety conscious, and put salt on icy sidewalks.

That square comes the day before Mercury goes in direct motion, at 19 degrees, 38 minutes of Sag, at 2:21 am Thursday. Exercise the usual caution a few days before and after the direct station, as these are prime periods for rushed work and errors.

Friday has a lovely Moon-Venus conjunction in Scorpio, so assuming you get through the last days of the year in good order, you can relax with your significant other – preferably at home with the romantic dinner (or breakfast, as it is exact at 8:11 am Friday) of your choice.

NEW YEAR'S EVE: The worm turns. Saturn is rising in a chart for midnight, creating a rather serious and sober mood. The South Node at 2 degrees of Cancer is high at the Midheaven (6 degrees), which sometimes signifies the least-likely-to-succeed wins it all. (It was located there when 50-1 long-shot Mine That Bird won the Kentucky Derby.) So take a flyer on the door prize or buy the quick-pick lotto ticket, 'cuz you never know. (Pluto and the nodes square the Ascendant, creating opportunity to remake one's self and one's life, go from rags to riches or vice-versa.)

The Moon at 2 degrees of optimistic and freewheeling Sag is also inconjunct the South Node, another indicator of an upset in the making. The public (Moon) is surprised by the outcome of events. This is akin to New Orleans upset of Indianapolis in last year's Super Bowl. The Moon is also sextile the Ascendant at 5 degrees Libra. Do you have any natal planets or angles at 2 to 6 degrees of a sign? The year could get off to a very interesting start!

Yikes, I have a natal chart with 3 degrees rising, trining Mars at the same degree, and square Uranus in Leo also at 3 degrees. Hmmm, I will have to set aside a few singles for the Lotto and whatever else there is. Will see if I can find any events at New Year's at any local spots. Wish me luck, guys, I really need it. I have felt so jinxed these last six months or so.

PS:
Well, so far this was not a good week for me. I was sick a good part of the week with chills – in bed, in fact – and offline much of the rest of the time. So I did not finish the column. Please forgive me. Or cut off my head, whatever. Just get it over with in either case...

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar ninth house on Thursday; mix-ups can occur in matters related to publishing, law, religion, politics, and college, so double-check all schedules and appointments. Mix-ups are common at the planetary stations. But other than that, all new projects from here on should run smoothly.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar eighth house on Thursday; matters related to estate or debt will get straightened out now. Lost bonds can be redeemed, lost wills located, etc. Eighth house also includes genealogy, and you may finally gain some missing pieces of the family puzzle.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar seventh house on Thursday; misunderstandings with one's mate (or with the public, for those in the public eye) can occur at the stations, so ask for clarification. It is always fun to make up, you know. Relationship matters can progress so much better from here on, especially now that you have learned something about each other.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - Tuesday morn has a Moon-Mars T-square from Libra and Capricorn; this cardinal energy will stress you and even anger you. Don't resort to food again to relieve stress. Mercury goes direct on Thursday in Sag, your solar sixth house; mix-ups can happen re doctor and work schedules, so double-check. Health and work matters should straighten out fine after that.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar fifth house on Thursday; mix-ups can occur re appointments for children, art class, etc so double-check. Other than that the light turns green on creative matters.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon continues in Virgo after Christmas Day, till midday Monday. The Moon-Mars trine Sunday morning puts energy into your cleanup chores. Cooperation comes easily and by all means ask others to pitch in; you shouldn't do it all yourself. A Moon-Venus sextile in the evening favors calls or visits with loved ones; go to that one holiday party, or all of them. Just keep an eye on the weather report. Monday's Moon opposes Jupiter and Uranus; you feel like your partner is so erratic and yet so generous. Try to remind yourself of his other wonderful qualities, too.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Moon is in Libra from 12:38 pm Monday till Wednesday afternoon. The first aspect is a square to Sun-Pluto in Capricorn on Monday afternoon. Fun; this is going to happen every month so you may as make note what happens, and what issues pop up, and take it from there. I expect Tuesday to be a frustrating day, with the possibility of something breaking; Moon is conjunct Saturn and squaring Mars. There, there; stay in with some tea and cookies. A late-night Moon-Mercury sextile can help you stick to some writing or editing chore. On Wednesday, the Mars-Saturn square is exact at 16 degrees of the signs Capricorn and Libra. Be safety-conscious, and insist on adequate lighting.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio from 3:49 pm Wednesday till Friday evening, Dec. 31. The Moon does not make exact aspects the first day it is in the sign, but a sextile to Pluto about 1 am Thursday may bring strange dreams or nightmares. The Moon sextiles Sun (6:51 am) and then Mars later that day at 10:39 pm. These aspects favor making sales calls, etc and then athletics or other competitive situations. Friday starts off with a Moon-Venus conjunction in Scorpio; take treats to work, or start your round of New Year calls if you are off work. The Moon trines Jove at 2:11 pm; it's in your solar fifth house of games, gambles, children and recreation. Take your pick. The Moon trines Uranus in the afternoon, same sector as Jove; some surprises could come your way.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon in Virgo opposes Jupiter in Pisces early Monday; this makes a T-square with your natal planets. Whoa, put the brakes on that holiday shopping! Check that list again, pal, before you embarrass yourself with a mistake. Mercury goes direct in your sign on Thursday; see notes above. Proof those emails before you hit Send; oops, never mind. The Moon is in Sag from 8:21 pm Friday (New Year's Eve) till very early Jan. 3. The only exact aspect on NYD is a Moon-Saturn sextile, which is excellent for helping you actually finish some of your many projects.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Tuesday morn has a Moon-Mars square from Libra ; this cardinal energy will stress you and even anger you. Don't act in haste. The Sun is conjunct Pluto on Dec. 26; this aspect helps one not only remake oneself, but can help you discover your own power to make/remake your whole life. Pluto is also sometimes called the wipeout planet; in this case you can wipe the slate clean and start over. Or you can clear out everything that you no longer need or use, and enjoy having enough room to breathe.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar eleventh house on Thursday; possibly a friend lets something slip that they were not supposed to. Well, maybe they had no right to keep it from ya in the first place.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - Mercury goes direct in Sag, your solar tenth house on Thursday; scheduling mix-ups can occur at these changes of direct so improvise if two groups want to use a given meeting room. Friday morn has a lovely Moon-Venus conjunction in Scorpio; your feelings may be intense enough to inspire you to write a poem.
