Ripped from the Headlines: Jupiter in Leo 2014
By Milky Way Maid
Now that
Jupiter is firmly in Leo, it is fun to see ways in which Jove (and
Venus too) are beaming their positive rays on that sign.
I
noticed an article in a recent copy of the Wall Street Journal that
detailed how two companies were returning bountiful profits for
investors. What companies were they? Two movie studios – MGM and
Lion's Gate!!!
How
perfect is that? MGM's trademark is the iconic Leo the Lion roaring a
greeting at the start of each film, and Lion's Gate, well that one is
obvious, too, with the name of the animal that represents the sign
Leo.
MGM has
seen huge box-office receipts on the strength of films like the
James Bond thriller “Skyfall” and “The Hobbit- An
Unexpected Journey.” Each one brought in over one billion
dollars, and continues to sell tickets overseas. MGM also has the TV
show “21 Jump Street” and a deep catalog of films in its
library to sell copies in international channels and digital
services, according to the WSJ.
This is
a major turnaround since it was forced to file bankruptcy in 2010.
MGM
was born on April 17, 1924. I was surprised to see so much
cardinal energy in their chart. The Sun is at 27 degrees Aries,
square Mars at 25 degrees Capricorn (a strong placement for that
planet), opposite Saturn exalted in Libra (29 degrees), and trine its
North Node at 29 degrees Leo, a perfect placement for an
entertainment business.
Not only
is the T-square a strong driver for the chart, the planets involved
are also in the very late degrees of the signs. Let's see, what did I
write about late degrees of these signs?
The Sun
in a late degree of Aries denotes someone that is a pioneer in some
way, and MGM was very much a pioneer. It had not only the most
glamourous collection of stars (with names like Clark Gable, Carole
Lombard, the Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy musicals, Spencer Tracy,
Myrna Loy, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford and many more), it also boasted
several firsts. While it was one of the last studios to adopt sound,
it was the first to make a complete film in Technicolor with sound
(The Viking), as well experimenting with it for portions of
Ben-Hur and a few other films. They also virtually owned the
big-budget musical segment of the film industry.
Mars in
late Capricorn has high energy, which would have made for an
excellent athlete in an individual chart. Any planet in late
Capricorn is powerful for building a business, especially a business
that survives the death of the founder. And indeed, the fact that
this company is 90 years old and still going strong is a testament to
a strong Mars here.
Saturn
in late Libra: Saturn in Libra is exalted anyway, meaning that it is
strong, and the energies of that planet find ease in expressing
itself in a positive way. Venus-ruled Libra is known for famous
dancers and other entertainers. Famous dancers with a planet in late
Libra include Ben Vereen, Fayard Nicholas,
Arthur Duncan, and Juliet Prowse. Libra looks for the beautiful and
tends to shun the gritty side of life. This was the philosophy of
co-founder Louis B. Mayer, who preferred the glorious color and
musical spectaculars like Show Boat, the Andy Hardy films, The
Ten Commandments, An American in Paris (1951), Singin'
in the Rain (1952), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954)
and Brigadoon.
And
having the North Node at 29 degrees Leo would be an obvious boon for
any company in the entertainment industry, and for major growth and
even dominance in the minds of the public. It did not hurt that its
Stable of Stars included The King, Clark Gable! MGM gets a boost from
both Jupiter and Venus transiting Leo, contacting the natal Neptune
(glamour) at 17 degrees and the North Node at 29 degrees.
MGM
emerged from bankruptcy in December 2010, when Pluto at 4 degrees
Capricorn passed the square to natal Moon at 3 Libra and natal Ceres
at 3 Aries. During the lean years, Neptune was opposing its natal
place in Leo; now that Neptune is transiting Pisces, that transit no
longer depresses box-office receipts.
Lion's
Gate profits have rested on properties like the “Hunger Games”
franchise (with two more in the works). Lion's Gate's birth date
is listed as July 3, 1997.
The
Lion's Gate natal chart also has a strong cardinal component, with
Sun at 11 degrees Cancer, the Moon at zero degrees Cancer, Mercury at
21 degrees Cancer, Mars at 6 degrees Libra, Saturn at 19 degrees
Aries, and Neptune (glamour) at 29 degrees Capricorn. Neptune is the
only planet at a strong late degree, and promises that the company
will survive through thick and thin.
Transits
that have lifted its fortunes: the main one is the progressed Moon
(now at 9 degrees Aquarius) has recently conjuncted natal Uranus at 7
degrees Aquarius; this would account for lucking onto the Hunger
Games franchise, with its strange, even bizarre public appeal. The
other is that progressed Sun at 28 Cancer opposes natal Neptune,
added a high gloss of glamour to its offerings.
A caveat
to those interested in investing in the company now: progressed Mars
is applying to an opposition to natal Saturn. That seems to me to be
a negative for financials, especially in regard to handling debts and
commissions. In the short term, Jupiter in Leo will contact the natal
Venus at 6 Leo, and sextile natal Mars at 6 Libra; that should prop
up the business in the short term; once Jupiter leaves Leo though,
public appeal will probably deflate in short order.

Your Milky Way Horoscope JULY 13-19, 2014

you might need to see a doctor about it.
Mercury enters Cancer
at 12:45 am Sunday. (This is
the first of three planets changing signs this week.) People with
Mercury (as well as the Moon) in Cancer are known for having
phenomenal memories. Cancerians with this placement often inject
pleas for sympathy in their speech, which can be unwelcome in the
office setting – the flip side is that they often take care of
their employees or coworkers, soothing ruffled feathers and bringing
in treats. Extremely intuitive without knowing how they know. Prefers
to quote precedent rather than set new precedents. Good for
historians and antique dealers and some fields of academia. Tends to
collect things. Famous people with Mercury in Cancer
include: Prince Philip, Nelson
Rockefeller, Paul Anka, Van Cliburn.
Venus at 23 degrees
Gemini trines Mars in Libra at 4:22 am Sunday. A
good time to meet and fall in love with your Knight in Shining Armor.
With Venus in Gemini, conversation should flow easily with lots of
wit and sparkle. Mars in Libra is polite and well-spoken, doing
everything right. What's not to like?
Jupiter enters fiery
Leo at 6:30 am Wednesday.
Jupiter in a fiery, fixed sign like Leo is prone to develop huge egos
to the point where they are unbearable. Yet the basic magnanimous
quality of a real Leo has to spill out to everyone within his reach.
Wants the best for everyone and is capable of great executive and
leadership ability. May be blessed with talent and gain the public
eye, and can be quite a showman. Jupiter really does things big in
Leo, in a very showy and public way. Famous people with
Jupiter in Leo include: Anne
Bancroft, Rex Harrison, Alexander the Great, Brigham Young, Richard
Wagner, Elizabeth Taylor, Eleanor Roosevelt, J P Morgan, Luther
Burbank, and Juan Peron.
Venus enters
sympathetic Cancer at 10:06 am Friday.
Venus in Cancer is the baker rather than the chef, although a native
with this placement may do both. Venus here needs to care for and
nourish others; denied the opportunity to feed other people, the
native may feed the birds or compulsively overeat. This Cancer's love
is freely given without strings attached, and really needs an
emotional outlet for his/her own health. Often has large families
and/or large breasts. Famous people with Venus in Cancer
include: Judy Garland, Margot
Fonteyn, Dean Martin, Igor Stravinsky, Louis Armstrong, Bob Hope,
Constantine of Greece, William Styron, and Hubert Humphrey.
Mercury at 7 degrees
Cancer trines Neptune in Pisces at 1:37 am Saturday.
I know I have said before that Mercury and Neptune really do not go
together very well at all! Messages get misunderstood even if they
are quite clear. People get lost in transit, or confused about the
time or place. On the bright side, we can make words into magic, such
as in poetry, spells, self-hypnosis, affirmations.
The Sun at 26 degrees
Cancer squares Mars in Libra at 2:32 am Saturday.
People with this transit affecting personal signs tend to dig in and
never give up. You try to beat them at a board game, pickup
basketball, a race or a debate and they will hold on till the finish
trying to maintain their position and keep you from passing them.
They may not have enough to win, but they will bust a gut trying to
keep you from passing them.

Readers
can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also their Ascendant
for further clues to how your week will develop. NOTE: some aspects
are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the
Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern
Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.
ARIES
- March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from 12:07 am
Thursday till Saturday morn. On Thursday morning it is important to
verify the content of messages and inquiries. On Thursday night, the
axiom that you cannot fight City Hall is brought home to you. Venus
enters your solar fourth house on Friday; you spruce up the home with
a bit of paint or redecoration. Friday night is challenging and
argumentative. Mercury also enters your solar fourth house this
week; you may host an exchange student or let the study group meet at
your home.
TAURUS
- April 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus from 4:43 am
Saturday thru the weekend. You may score a nice rummage sale find
early Saturday, or talk the seller into a bargain. Saturday night
favors an early movie followed by sparkling chatter over dinner or
possibly an interesting lecture. Mercury and Venus enter your solar
third house this week; you may receive lots of invites to parties, or
take fun day trips to art shows and scenic places. Possible expansion
of your home or family in the coming year.
GEMINI
- May 21-June 20 – The Venus-Mars trine Sunday (or late the
Saturday before) is ideal for meeting your newest and best romance;
watch the sun rise together on a new shared life. Also Mercury and
Venus enter your solar second house this week; sales pick up, and you
benefit as well from bonuses or freebies. Jupiter entering your solar
third house means luck through short trips in the coming year, also
you probably spend way too much at the bookstore.
CANCER
- June 21-July 22 –
Romantic times at your getaway home this Sunday. Mercury and
Venus enter your sign this week; go to the salon for a new look, and
send out lots of invites to your pool party. Jupiter enters your
solar second house on Wednesday; Jove protects your financial
interests for the coming year, although you may be tempted mightily
to overspend. You dig deep to beat a competitor early Saturday at
what is supposed to be a fun-run.
LEO
- July 23-Aug. 22 – On Sunday a friend may start to look
more like a good romantic prospect; invite him/her along to a local
festival. Jupiter enters your sign this Wednesday; be generous with
your love and encouragement of others. Spread around your good
fortune and share the spotlight with others. Beware of gaining weight
under this transit, though. Saturday morning is not favorable for
winning an athletic event, since you may waste energy in a duel too
early.
VIRGO
- Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mercury and Venus enter your solar
eleventh house this week; lots of visits with friends, who shower you
with tips, gifts, or freebies. Jupiter enters your solar twelfth
house on Wednesday; Jove in that position usually means a secret
angel is looking out for you, by that I mean a real live person but
someone who stays in the shadows. Saturday brings a chance of winning
a money prize in an athletic competition, assuming you are prepared
and fit.
LIBRA
- Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Sunday morning is a good time to meet
Mr Right, so take your early morning walk in a scenic area. Mercury
and Venus enter your solar tenth house this week; good progress marks
your career path especially if you are in sales or marketing. Jupiter
enters your solar eleventh house on Wednesday; luck through friends
or groups marks the coming year, but you need to dream big. You may
meet a tough competitor early Saturday, someone sure to make you dig
deep for your best effort.
SCORPIO
- Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Mercury and Venus enter your solar ninth
house this week; favorable news and reviews re your manuscript or
your website gets more hits, or you write a lot of papers for your
college courses. Jupiter enters your solar tenth house on Wednesday;
you may get your big break career-wise. Have your resume and elevator
talk honed to perfection. Saturday is not favorable for competing in
athletic or other competitions; but you might learn something about
pacing yourself.
SAGITTARIUS
- Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Lots of activity in the coming month
inre insurance payments or premiums, or you may be shopping around
for a better deal. Jupiter enters your solar ninth house on
Wednesday; you may be in the courtroom sometime in the coming year,
look at it as a chance to learn something about the legal system. A
fun run with friends is favored for Saturday morning, tho an
unexpected entrant is likely to run your socks off.
CAPRICORN
- Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Mercury and Venus enter your solar seventh
house this week; your mate is extra affectionate and chatty,
interested in your feelings and thoughts. Jupiter enters your solar
eighth house on Wednesday; joint accounts and investments through
others grow. Also your insurance plan may save your bacon one day.
Saturday morning may be challenging in the sense that you may enter a
competition and rather enjoy trying to beat everyone else.
AQUARIUS
- Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from Sunday till
Monday night. Monday afternoon favors sports and competition of any
kind, or making cold sales calls. Mid afternoon favors closing those
sales with some token gift or enhancement. The coming year may be
marked by several marriage proposals; the already married enjoy good
luck thru the spouse. Saturday is not very favorable for competitions
of any kind, since you may injure yourself trying to win and lose
training time.
PISCES
- Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from 10:40 pm
Monday till early Thursday. Mid morning Tuesday is not favorable for
appointments or doing personal business, since you are easily
confused at that time. Have a mentor over for dinner that night.
Wednesday afternoon favors relationships, including having group
meetings at work. That night can be frustrating for romance. Mercury
and Venus enter your solar fifth house this week; dancing and
concerts and fun fill your happy days.
