Your Milky Way Horoscope March 9-15, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury at 23 degrees Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio at 2:14 am Tuesday. Call this the Gloomy Gus aspect. The Mercury-Saturn square can make you feel quite lonely and unwilling to communicate. However, if you can force yourself to pick up the pen or the phone, your style is very precise and scientific. You may have to guard against pessimism, and the day does not favor making a good impression on new people. It is a good day for holing up in your cubbyhole and getting a good deal of detailed work done. Saturn is retrograde, which may simply mean that you have to re-do a task that was not done correctly while Mercury was retrograde.

The Sun at 23 degrees Pisces trines Saturn in Scorpio at 5:16 pm Thursday. Set goals, make grand five-year plans, and work out all the steps you have to take to get from Point A to Point B. The Sun has separated from that pie-in-the-sky conjunction to Neptune, so while you have a bit of Neptunian air in your tires, the rose-colored glasses are clearing up and you can, as the song goes, see clearly now. The fact that Saturn is retrograde probably just means that a lesson or skill needs to be learned, and learned right.

Mercury at 26 degrees Aquarius trines Mars in Libra at 12:17 pm Friday. NORMALLY-- Self-confidence and physical energy are high. Sports are favored especially if they involve hand-eye coordination; examples are passing a football or tossing darts. Exacting work goes well, whether it is something like balancing the company books or working on a hobby. Assertiveness is accented. You can speak up for yourself, debate an issue, challenge someone, take on a dare, ask for a (ulp) raise, defend your views, or make a sales presentation. You can impress others with your confidence, or even with your chutzpah. BUT Mars is retrograde now, so being rash or daring might get you in hot water at this time.

NOTE: Daylight Saving Time begins at 1 AM on Sunday, March 9. Set your clocks ahead one hour, unless you like to be REALLY early for everything.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. NOTE: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – You may feel the effects of your ruler Mars having gone retrograde by now, and you are no doubt one unhappy camper. However, you may find that you have to deal with health issues that need to be addressed instead of taking your robust health for granted. Juno's transit thru Aries for the next couple months helps you tailor your marriage to the personalities of both partners; as a result you will not feel like a close relationship cramps your style, but gives you a way to share more of yourself.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – With Jupiter having gone direct in your solar third house, the house of commerce, you may be able to sell or broker items that you had sitting around. You may even have to add items to your inventory. Venus in your solar tenth house may bring some perks of the job, if not a bonus. Moon in Leo mid-week makes you prefer to cocoon or possibly host a party Wednesday. You may have to take the kids to the dentist Friday.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini for a few hours Sunday morning. Sunday seems to be ideal for playing doubles tennis, maybe there is snow on the court but at any rate your energy level should be good. Ruler Mercury is in a compatible air sign this week yet, so you are able to put across your ideas to a sympathetic audience, although Tuesday is least favorable and Friday is most favorable. Finances can take an upturn Saturday morning.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from 9:33 am Sunday till Tuesday night. Sunday night favors a outing to the cinema. You are in a most optimistic mood Monday morn, and will probably attract good luck. You could get pretty excitable, tho, during the morning commute, so keep your wits about you. You can successfully lay a guilt trip on someone you need to ask a favor of Tuesday morning.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – The Moon is in Leo from 10:09 pm Tuesday till Friday morning. Wednesday morning does not favor asking for favors. A different way of looking at the world appeals to you Wednesday night. Thursday is for keeping the nose to the grindstone. Ceres going retrograde in your solar fourth house may mean having to pay more attention to proper nutrition. An associate may invite you use their private getaway for the weekend.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Now that ruler Mercury is direct, you may have better success at putting across your views in the workplace; Tuesday is least favorable and Friday is most favorable for that. The Moon is in Virgo from 10:17 am Friday till next Sunday night. Spend Saturday morning with boon companions. Midday Saturday favors getting together with a mentor or older, wiser brother-in-law.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Ruler Venus is in a compatible air sign the rest of the month; relationships with children are more affectionate, and artistic pursuits can garner popular attention. Be sure to put your creative efforts before the public. Ceres retrograde in your solar second house may mean you have to make some adjustment to bank accounts so that fewer fees are assessed, possibly switching to a credit union.

SCORPIOOct . 23-Nov. 21 – Co-ruler Mars having gone retrograde in your twelfth house could mean that you have to reconsider whether your new regimen is effective in getting you to reach your goals, whether that is weight loss or improved fitness or both. You can find some good tips on Lifescript.com. Ceres is retrograde in Scorpio and before the end of the month will re-enter Libra; your powers of recuperation may require time off from work or intense therapy.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Your sense of optimism and generosity of spirit are high Monday morning when ruler Jupiter is conjunct the Moon in Cancer; you may surprise yourself with what comes out of your mouth or your wallet. You may be a bit indulgent with employees Saturday, perhaps treating them to brunch. Tuesday morning may be your best day this week, with the Moon in compatible Leo and nice trines boosting your ability to lead and inspire others.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – You tend to really hate it when your ruler Saturn is retrograde; you feel like the rules of the game have all been changed and you have no rulebook to go by. You will just have to set up your own schedules for work, payments, and procedures. You will need to map out the baby steps toward your long-term goals. I think it would be a good idea to consider setting aside an hour or a morning a week when you will not be disturbed by phone calls, etc, so you can push through with paperwork.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Saturn is your co-ruler so please read Capricorn, too. On Sunday personal finances may flow easily, perhaps too easily – right out of your wallet or hands, so stick to the shopping list. The asteroid Juno enters your solar third house of commerce this month; you may find a partnership helpful in handling brokering or running an online shop. Friday is the best day for anything from craft work to handling details to sports that demand good hand-eye coordination.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in compatible Cancer on Sunday thru Tuesday. Your energy is good for dancing Sunday evening. Tuesday morning is favorable for relationships in general and for getting on with the boss in particular. A family talent for a craft business or hobby may express itself Friday, and it might surprise you to see how good you could be at it. Saturday is favorable for relaxing with your mate and friends.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 16-22, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury retrograde at 26 degrees Aquarius trines Mars in Libra at 3:19 am Sunday. We feel extra self-confident, like we could take on the world; but with Mercury retrograde, that thought may lead us astray. We may tackle a mental challenge, and even though we might make a false start on it, it is still important to do that groundwork. We may also have quite a gift for turning a phrase, but then have to retract our statement. It may be a good time to get some things off our chest, if only to use someone as a sounding board.

The Sun enters Pisces at exactly 1 pm Tuesday. The phrase that come to my mind with Sun in Pisces is “tea and sympathy” because Pisceans value both giving and receiving a sympathetic ear. The problem with Pisces is that they are often too willing to just wallow in the self-pity or the pity party, whereas a sign like Cancer will feel the feelings and then do something about it. Pisces can appear to be indecisive and addicted to self-defeatism. But the mature Pisces can transmute all their feelings into inspiring art or poetry, or into a mystical if idealistic vision of the future.

Sun in Pisces natives can be very observant without even being aware of it, and as a result their comments may seem psychic. They have a vivid imagination, which is useful in the arts but negative when they scare themselves out of their own wits. Can be the pet of the family. Can be pliable, which scammers take advantage of. Can be prone to yielding to the impulse of the moment, driving 100 miles for no particular reason or blowing off appointments. Famous people with the Sun in Pisces include: John Steinbeck, Jackie Gleason, Liz Taylor, Albert Einstein, Victor Hugo, Frederic Chopin, Earl Warren, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sidney Poitier, Rex Harrison, Edward Albee, George Harrison, Rudolph Nureyev, Pierre Renoir, and Pope Pius XII.

Mercury retrograde at 23 degrees Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio at 2:11 am Wednesday. We may feel lonely simply from the unwillingness to pick up the phone and call someone. The aspect may favor doing very focused, very detailed work, but with Mercury retrograde you may have to do it over again. It doesn't favor making a good impression so find another day for that interview.

Ceres enters Scorpio on or about Feb. 17, and promptly trines Sun entering Pisces. Ceres in Scorpio gives great reserves of physical and psychological strength. Scorpios will proceed toward their goals despite any number of obstacles or setbacks. They can also recover from physical ailments and regenerate themselves like the phoenix. Psychic talents may also surface, especially in regards to what loved ones are doing or what they need. With the trine to the Sun, Scorpios may gravitate toward art as an outlet, and luck onto a teacher because the student is ready.

CAUTION for next week: The Sun will be conjunct fuzzy Neptune midday Sunday, Feb. 23. Pisces natives are likely to suffer all kinds of mishaps, some of which may make for funny stories later. Let other people drive, lest you get hopelessly lost!

NOTE: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Sunday favors using your mate and best friends as a sounding board; just remember to check out any advice given to you before taking any action. The Sun enters your solar twelfth house on Tuesday; you may be content with dreaming your private dream, or volunteering at the local hospital. Ceres enters your eighth house this week which may spark an interest in biological sciences in general and specifically in natural foods.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Best day may be Sunday when the Moon in compatible Virgo makes pleasant trines to Venus and Pluto; you might be able to firmly catch that Someone in your romantic net. The Sun enters your solar eleventh house on Tuesday; you may take on more duties at a fraternal organization or hobby club, and inspire the membership to new heights. Ceres enters your seventh house this week which sometimes means taking on the caretaker role in a marriage, but more often just makes them quietly reliable in a balanced relationship.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – On Sunday you might use your children as a sounding board, just remember to thoroughly check out any advice they may give you before you do anything. The Sun enters your solar tenth house on Tuesday; a chaotic person may hire on at work, and proceed to create a royal mess. Ceres enters your sixth house this week which increases a yearning to live in the country, or bring nature into the home.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – You might use your family as a sounding board Sunday, altho I caution you to thoroughly check out any advice given before doing anything. The Sun enters your solar ninth house on Tuesday; you may plan a cruise that may or may not ever take place, or just read about long sailing journeys. Ceres enters your fifth house this week which could mean an addition to the family by birth or by adoption; you also restore your spirit with long nature walks.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - The Sun enters your solar eighth house on Tuesday; joint finances may be a royal mess this month if you hire someone new to do bookkeeping or taxes; you may also devour a stream of murder mystery novels. Wednesday may force you to do detail work at the office which is not your strong suit to begin with. Ceres enters your fourth house this week which will help you choose healthful menus for you and your family; you may also work out of your home for a time.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo from Sunday till midday Monday. The Sun enters your solar seventh house on Tuesday; you may be attracted to a rather scatterbrained partner that you can minister to. Pallas in your sign opposes Neptune late this week; you could administer to those in distress via applying your professional skills to clients. Ceres enters your third house this week which should help you speak effectively and also organize everything from block parties to committees.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Sun enters your solar sixth house on Tuesday; you may be more sensitive to office dynamics or politics. The Moon is in Libra from 1:23 pm Monday till late Wednesday. Tuesday gives you challenges of keeping a lid on emotional reactions in the morn, and deftly avoiding a pointless tug-of-war in the afternoon. Wednesday morn brings offers of cooperation, which you simply must nail down into specifics. Ceres enters your second house this week which should help you grow your resources.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio from 10:33 pm Wednesday till Saturday morning. Best day is Thursday, when lovely trines to idealistic Neptune and optimistic Jupiter lead you thru the day. Believe the best of people today and they may try to live up to your high opinion of them. You can get a lot done working thru your lunch break Friday; but try not to be disappointed if the boss won't let you go home early.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Sun enters your solar fourth house on Tuesday; you may cocoon more with family members at home, or possibly deal in real estate matters. The Moon is in Sag from 5:12 am Saturday thru the weekend. You are a homebody Saturday, puttering around the house and tending to repairs. Saturday night is devoted to laughs, whether from rented movies or from telling each other funny stories.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – You may seek a parent to use as a sounding board on Sunday, altho their advice may not be applicable to today's realities. The Sun enters your solar third house on Tuesday; mastery of non-verbal communication is added to your toolbox. You may also enjoy reunions or visiting the old neighborhood. Wednesday may be productive when doing detailed work on the club's financial records. Ceres enters your eleventh house this week which helps you assign the right person for each task.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Sunday is very favorable for brainstorming with other air signs; a lot of ideas will be discarded later but watch for the gems. The Sun enters your solar second house on Tuesday; you may find a new bookkeeper or accountant, or have to assign values to everything you own. Wednesday may find you assigned to detailed work, chained to your desk till it is done. Ceres enters your tenth house this week sees your hard work rewarded with an executive position.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - The Sun enters your sign on Tuesday; you may be the center of attention more this month than in the past year, although you may have gotten used to being invisible. Your skills in the arts may be in demand in the next couple months, when you may take on a teaching position. I say this due to the Sun ingress trining Ceres, plus Juno in your sign trining Saturn, plus Neptune in your sign opposing Pallas. Be especially careful to guard your health this week.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 19-25, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Dear Readers: I missed a week of this month's columns due to health problems. I was in the Intensive Care ward for a few days with a serious issue and my doctors have put me on medication while ordering more lab work. Please keep me in your thoughts for the near future. Thank you.

The Sun enters Aquarius at 10:51 pm Sunday. Aquarians are natural group members and sometimes group leaders; they accept that various members have different roles to fill in any healthy group dynamic. Aquarius natives almost always have an independent streak, sometimes being contrary for no reason at all except to express their “I gotta be me” attitude. Is often able to make members of a group feel included in determining the agenda for the group, so they willingly share info and lend their energies to the group project. Aquarians seem to understand human weakness, and are willing to have the group carry a member who is going thru a tough time. Aquarians look forward to all the new technology and scientific breakthroughs that the future brings, while remaining firmly grounded in the present time. This is a fixed sign, and don't forget it! They are not flighty even though they look forward to change. They can be the most steadfast of friends and spouses. Famous people with the Sun in Aquarius include: Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Gertrude Stein, W C Fields, Carol Channing, Franklin Roosevelt, Mia Farrow, and Wolfgang Mozart.

Mercury at 20 degrees Aquarius trines Mars in Libra at 9:57 pm Friday. Mercury with Mars in a positive aspect gives excellent hand-eye coordination, especially in sports and athletics. It is also a help in technical jobs and in creating crafts of fine workmanship.

Mercury at 22 degrees Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio at 6:56 pm Saturday. This could mean the arrival of bad news or at least serious news, and serious discussion of that news flash. You may have to accept a delay in progress on some matters on your agenda. Nevertheless this transit is good for focusing on detailed work, such as in handcrafts or technical stuff.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Sun enters your solar eleventh house on Sunday; you apply the art of not seeming to lead while leading quite successfully. On Friday, the Mercury-Mars trine helps you effectively explain and defend your passionately-held views about the future. Saturday is probably not the time to broach discussions with club officers; messages can be garbled, delayed or lost.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - The Sun enters your solar tenth house on Sunday; your uniqueness is expressed or even recognized in a public way. Attend a group event late in the week, where you could meet a future mate. On Friday you are more inclined to take on mental challenges at work; this may involve actually programming technology or searching for ready-made applications.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - The Sun enters your solar ninth house on Sunday; you may be a perpetual teacher this month, or take a course in a futuristic science. On Friday you might ardently express how important you feel education is to your children, who might not be sold on the value of a sheepskin. Legal matters can be delayed past the weekend, so try to stay cool, calm and collected.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - The Sun enters your solar eighth house on Sunday; you find ways to apply pooled resources for the good of many people. Midweek is brightened by an exchange of gifts or other symbols of affection. On Friday, for some reason the subject of who should inherit what receives the focus of your passionate attention. You may find a local lawyer who is the right one to handle a sensitive legal matter.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - The Sun enters your solar seventh house on Sunday; you expect your mate to recognize both your uniqueness and your equality as a person within a stable relationship. Friday night favors defending your views effectively, possibly in a public place.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Sun enters your solar sixth house on Sunday; you appreciate the advances that technology brings in monitoring your own health. The Moon is in Virgo from Sunday till Tuesday morning. Interesting dreams to discuss over Sunday brunch. Share a good discussion with a mentor type Sunday evening, and retire for the night with an optimistic mind-set. Do somebody a kindness Monday morning.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Sun enters your solar fifth house on Sunday; your inner child demands expression of his uniqueness and his fascination with new toys. Moon is in Libra from 7:43 am till Tuesday till Thursday afternoon. Tuesday mid-morning favors conferences and any meetings where people have to get on the same page. Wednesday can be stressful, with people pulling in contrary directions. However, Wednesday night brings a phone call from an adult child with good news.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Sun enters your solar fourth house on Sunday; you want to be accepted by family members as a unique person. The Moon is in Scorpio from 4:43 pm Thursday till Saturday night. Thursday night favors an evening at the cinema or perhaps renting some venturesome fare from local sources. Friday afternoon favors a chat with your mentor. Late afternoon favors initiating legal matters, which might be favorably decided before the close of business. Towards the weekend you may meet a future mate, possibly in a group setting or in a hobby club.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Sun enters your solar third house on Sunday; you might find yourself more peripatetic than usual, perhaps sharing information with groups of people. You may give a speech before a group Friday night in which you are more passionate than usual about expressing your views. The Moon is in Sag from 10:13 pm Saturday thru the weekend. No aspects form Saturday night, so enjoy using your free will as you wish.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - The Sun enters your solar second house on Sunday; you express your personal values through the kinds of purchases or donations you make this month. On Friday there is a chance of getting a position in teaching, one that gives you a platform for expressing your unique views.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - The Sun enters your sign on Sunday; your independence grows and you insist on your uniqueness. You may find a way to make match-making pay as a business venture midweek. You may have the opportunity to vent your passions in a courtroom Friday, possibly when pleading your cause over a mere parking ticket. On Saturday you probably won't be Miss Mary Sunshine; however you can clear up intense, detailed tasks especially in handiworks like crafts or technical stuff.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - The Sun enters your solar twelfth house on Sunday; you may get involved in realizing your private dream of a world of equality and peace. On Friday you are rather upset at the prospect of not inheriting into a family business or estate. Juno and Chiron line up in your sign for the weekend, opposite Pallas Athena; you may meet a future mate who is a lawyer or ombudsman type.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 11-17, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury at at 5 degrees Leo squares Saturn in Scorpio at 2:05 pm Sunday. There could be some kind of communications block, either people are unwilling to reply just yet, or servers are overloaded or a cell tower goes down. So, not a good day for interviews or sales talks. However, since you are freed of distractions anyway, you may find extra abilities to concentrate on detailed work. With Scorpio involved, that may be surgery, forensic bookkeeping, forensic law, or anything that requires some digging and research.

Mercury at 12 degrees Leo trines Uranus in Aries at 10:11 pm Wednesday. This is one of the days that I recommend for buying mechanical or electronic items, or for installing software. If traveling, go someplace new or unusual; you will be fascinated by everything. Go down to Key West or Piccadilly Circus, someplace where people dress very oddly or have their own idiom. You will enjoy all forms of mental stimulation, whether travel (as mentioned already), attending a class or lecture, reading, doing puzzles, etc. Uranus may deliver one of his brilliant insights. It's a good aspect for enrolling in a course of study especially if it is off the beaten track, something like string theory, Uranian astrology or any other astrology, cats in history, the lore of garden trolls, etc – also a foreign (Uranus) language (Mercury).

Venus enters its second home of Libra at 11:37 am Friday, Venus' day. Venus is more social in Libra than in Taurus, so she seeks out parties and social groups of all kinds. Since Libra is an air sign, she would like her social companions to have like minds, sharing similar tastes, politics, or hobbies. Libra does value peace and harmony, but when she settles for “peace at any price” she only shoots herself in the foot because the relationship suffers from lack of honesty. A mature Venus in Libra is able to focus attention on an injustice, gathers others to her cause, and drives forward to install a fairer resolution. This Venus has a wonderful sense of fair play and lifts all the members of her team to a higher standard.

In personal relationships, Venus in Libra values love as a sacred thing, putting her loved one on a pedestal. You are less interested in the victory (of a game, for example) than in how it was won. Or in how YOU were won – since you believe that the courtship is essential to the eventual happy marriage.

This Venus absolutely requires beautiful surroundings, or she can even become physically ill. Being in a hospital with walls painted a sick green would just make her sicker than when she came in! Is equally sensitive to discord, since argument in the home can also make her ill. She has the sensitivity of an artist to color, form and line. She frequently is a wonderful dancer, like Rita Hayworth. Famous people with Venus in Libra include: Pablo Picasso, Oscar Wilde, Martin Luther, Petula Clark, and Anne-Marie of Greece.

We have a First Quarter Moon on 21 degrees Scorpio, which is directly OPPOSITE the solar eclipse degree of May 9. The time of the quarter moon is 6:56 am Wednesday. Naturally there are some stresses on the quarter moon because by definition the lights are square – however, the square is preceded by a Moon trine Mars an hour earlier and followed by a Moon sextile Venus at 5:30 pm, so we expect that interpersonal differences will be hashed out successfully.
