The Grand Square tightens this week. Jupiter in Cancer squares Uranus and opposes Pluto on Sunday. Uranus in Aries squares Pluto on Monday. Mars in Libra squares Jupiter on Tuesday. Mars opposes Uranus and squares Pluto on Wednesday. All of these occur on 13 degrees of the cardinal signs, a critical degree and a world degree. It would not surprise me if the Russia-Ukraine issue breaks wide open. It would not surprise me if the giant El Nino forming these last several weeks sets off a deluge and mudslides in California. Anything can happen, and natives of the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will all feel the effect the most.

Mercury enters Taurus at 5:16 am Wednesday. Mercury in Taurus can be amazingly plodding and literal-minded. Mercury enters Capricorn at 5:12 am Tuesday. Mercury in Capricorn is all business!! Mercury here also wants to be the Answer Man, the one who at least wants to be the one people turn to for the answers. He may even gather all sorts of factoids and expect you to be quite impressed by his knowledge, whether it is pertinent to the matter at hand or not. A more mature Capricorn personality focuses more on filling others' need for the facts, just the facts, ma'am. Cappy needs to focus less on what he knows and more on what information he shares for mutual benefit and advancement. To his credit, Capricorn has a steady and serious mind that readily studies long and hard, and absorbs details while never losing sight of the Big Picture. Does not like to be disagreed with! Mars at 8 degrees Libra opposes Uranus in Aries at 3:33 am Wednesday, Christmas Day. The personal energy of Mars needs to work off some steam, but runs up against restrictions that cramp its style. Some may believe that there is room for positive growth in spiritual thought, or the use of mantras or affirmations, working with artistic imagination, intuition, etc. It may actually be helpful to focus on creative work under this transit. But frankly I think that most of us let this transit go by with an hour or a day of mere daydreaming, with nothing to show for it. Or even worse, they let some huckster rip them off with promises of all kinds of freebies and sweeteners.
