Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 12-18, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

YAY! Mercury goes direct again on Sunday night at 7:09 pm. Mercury will be at 5 degrees 26 minutes of Virgo. Virgoans can stop acting like everyone has gone crazy on them. Please. All earth signs will likely be comfortable with fresh Mercury energy, while the mutable signs may not like what they hear.

Venus sextiles Pluto earlier the same day, at 6:43 am. At 2 degrees 43 minutes of the signs; note that Pluto goes direct early Tuesday. Hmmm. Looks to me like some romantic obsessions will take a step forward early this week. Perhaps a certain gentleman will ask you out, or perhaps you are at the stage where you decide to live together.

Mars in Libra is inconjunct Uranus in Pisces on Monday morning. The inconjunct denotes some kind of adjustment. Mars and Uranus typically refer to cars because of the power, metal, and mechanics involved in their structure and operation. Perhaps you have to switch vehicles with another family member for the day. Hopefully any mechanical problems are easily repaired. Hopefully.

Mars enters its home sign of Scorpio at 6:38 pm on Tuesday. (Its nice to have a second home.) Mars revs up the engines for Scorpios, who get a burst of fresh energy for all their projects and chores. Mars does not make an aspect until it sextiles the Moon in Capricorn on Wednesday afternoon. This is good. Mars, a masculine energy, harmonizes with the feminine, emotional Moon. Men and women should find it a bit easier to communicate and get along. Pluto is near the Moon, adding intensity and seriousness. One's relationship could evolve to the next level.
Whoa, Jupiter is conjunct Uranus again at 9:03 pm Saturday. Inspiring events can be in the news late Friday, or an important film may debut. Keep an eye on the news. Another Susan Boyle may burst on the mass consciousness, or a groundbreaking book/film can start to turn around tired thinking patterns and paradigms.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Your ruler Mars moves into Scorpio Tuesday evening; even though this is a quincunx by signs, I think that you are more comfortable with this transit than in Libra. The Moon conjuncts Pluto and sextile the Moon on Wednesday evening, so I suspect that you will feel energetic and especially competitive. Keep the bet friendly when you take on friends in a bit of one-on-one at the gym! Moon in Capricorn is also compatible, Wed pm thru Friday. Friday night favors a late date or just entertaining. You will want to do things in a big way that night.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Moon in Scorpio as the week begins makes your significant other seem even more sympatico. Stop in early Monday at the gathering place and offer to help set up; who knows what interesting fellow turns up. A Moon-Pluto conjunction late Wednesday turns up the heat; all you have to do is turn down the volume of music playing in the background so you can talk to each other. Heavy-duty, sexy planets are on tap this week. Pluto goes direct, and Mars enters sexy Scorpio. You could enjoy this week, Tau. Just look your best and remember a spritz of perfume.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon in opposite sign Sag Mon-Wed is not for the most part making you feel comfortable. The Moon squares Uranus-Jupiter in Pisces Wednesday afternoon in your solar tenth house of career, where a sudden development may take you by surprise. Maintain your equilibrium while figuring out how this affects you. Pluto direct in Capricorn on Tuesday may release estate or insurance proceeds to your accounts. Jupiter magnifies things, but I don't want to build up your hopes too high. Airy Moon in Aquarius on Saturday trines Saturn in Libra in the afternoon; complemented with your natal planets will make a grand trine in air, so talk things up and introduce yourself.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – You are at home with Moon energy in Scorpio Sun-Mon. A romantic Sunday brunch, or perhaps just watching the sun rise over a lake, will make a memory. Mercury goes direct in Virgo Sunday afternoon; you might want to travel but I recommend waiting a couple days for the new energy to settle down a bit. The Moon trines Jupiter and then Uranus early Monday; be careful during your commute but do listen to what is on the radio and what the issue of the hour is. Pluto goes direct in your opposite sign; your significant other is feeling more powerful and influential so celebrate the fact his natural authority is being recognized.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Squares early Monday can be dangerous if you are daydreaming during your commute; keep your attention on the road. Mars enters Scorpio Tuesday night, squaring your sign. You may find some people a bit more combative, shall we say. Learn the art of the soft answer to turn away wrath. You can charm anyone, anyway. Best days have Moon in Sag, Mon-Wed. You may be challenged to be your most creative on Wednesday afternoon.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Yay, Mercury goes direct in your sign on Sunday night. It is not a moment too soon, as far as you are concerned, is it? Friends may try to engineer a 'chance' encounter with someone they think is perfect for you on Sunday or perhaps late Saturday. They may be right, you know. Just because you never would have thought of it, doesn't mean they're wrong. Mars enters Scorpio, your solar third house; your communications are generally strong and precise; however with Mars moving in here, it can be problematical. Mars can make your words seem combative or nasty even if nothing of the kind is intended. Take just a moment to imaging how your note may affect someone's feelings.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Libby, I love you and I know you will be a bit relieved when Mars leaves your sign Sunday night. Give him a parting kiss but don't invite him back soon. Pluto goes direct in your solar fourth house early Tuesday; then we''ll know who is the real lord of the home. Aspects to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in your solar sixth house of health, may help you diagnose and treat a condition that has troubled you. These occur on Monday, Wednesday and very early Saturday. The air-sign Moon on Saturday is compatible; you can get a lot done in the afternoon, and find a creative outlet in the evening.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio as the week begins, and stays till Monday morning. Venus in Scorpio sextiles Pluto early Sunday. Try not to be obsessed with the object of your affection, but do let her know that she means something to you. Perhaps watching the sunrise together will make a memory. Mercury goes direct in your solar eleventh house on Sunday. Perhaps some friends who have fallen off the radar suddenly check in with you. Go out and catch up with each other. The Moon squares Neptune in the wee hours, possibly fostering interesting dreams. A trine to Uranus ( and then Jupiter) about 7 am sends insight your way; make note of your thoughts.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag from 8:52 am till Monday till Wednesday afternoon. The Moon in Sag squares Mercury Monday night; Sag shoots off his mouth again, but what else is new? A trine to Saturn that night helps you stick to chores. Tuesday afternoon and evening may be a bit tense in the male-female relations department due to a Moon-Sun square. Make a special effort to be understanding. On Wednesday, you ask yourself 'What if?' in the morning under a Neptune aspect; by late afternoon you may have found an opportunity to test your daydream on somebody at home.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from 4:30 pm Wednesday till early Saturday. While the Moon applies to a conjunction with Pluto late Wednesday, it makes a sextile to Mars in Scorpio; your competitive drive is in high gear, and luck may swing in your favor. Frustration may take over early Thursday under a Moon-Saturn square; you may be forced to attend to chores or duties that you'd prefer to ignore. A Sun-Moon trine Friday favors an early dinner date; you'll be charming and supportive. A sextile to Uranus and Jupiter late Friday favors painting the town red, or perhaps doing a round-robin among friends' homes.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from 3:35 am Saturday through the weekend. The Moon squares Mars Saturday morn; you might be raring to go but early efforts may have to be redone. A trine to Saturn about 4 pm, tho, is much better for productive chores or work. Relax with some creative writing late Saturday, or perhaps you'll enjoy some comedic wordplay.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Pisces' best days a likely when Moon is in compatible Scorpio Sun-Mon. Be careful under Mercury direct Sunday evening; you might blurt out things to your partner that you'd rather he not know about. Pluto goes direct early Tuesday in your solar eleventh house of friends and groups; influential friends may be able to help you. On Wednesday afternoon, you and a Sag might not quite see eye to eye; don't blow things out of proportion, though, even tho you might be tempted to do so.

The Condor and Eagle Fly Together, Fulfilling Ancient Prophecy

by Milky Way Maid

Over the course of this year, four meetings at the Midwest Shamanic Gathering will culminate in the passing of the chief's bundle from a North American Indian to a South American Indian. It will be the first time that a South American holds the title and bundle of chief in the North American tradition.

This is said to be the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy that one day, the Condor (South American Indian) and Eagle (North American Indian) will fly together.

The Condor is represented by Don Valerio Cohaila (aka Freddy), a Peruvian Indian, and the Eagle is represented by Leonard Crowdog, chief of the Lakota nation (Sioux).

What is the meaning of this event? The prophecy states that there will come “a time when the Condor and Eagle fly together, then it will be a sign that the children of Mother Earth are re-awakening.”

The children of Mother Earth are represented at these shamanic gatherings by those who uphold many other spiritual traditions from around the world. Other attendees include practitioners and members of groups such as the Oneida, a Hmong shaman, a Norse staff carrier, and (North American) shamanic teachers.

Other Andean teachers and healers also attended; among them are Juan Gabriel Apaza, who calls on the spirits of the the mountains, animals and all of nature to connect North and South, and Mary Rutherford, a teacher of the Andean tradition.

The shamanic gatherings take place at Beaver Creek Reserve in Fall Creek, WI. The article about this event was so scanty on hard facts that I cannot tell when the last gathering was, not even what month it was. But since the latest ceremony was the second of four to take place over the span of a year, it seems reasonable to guess that they take place on the equinoxes and solstices.

The article appeared in the August 2010 issue of Essential Wellness. One may surf over to the MidwestShamanicGathering.com site to find out more and register with them.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 29 - Sept. 4, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun is conjunct a retrograde Mercury at 8:35 am Friday, at 11 degrees Virgo. Retracing your steps, figuratively speaking, may be the order of the day. Make note of stock market direction today; does it retrace its steps from last month, or crabstep sideways? With Virgo here, I am thinking that discovery of minor errors in paperwork will hold up deals and so forth. Also I suggest trying to get any forms through the licensing department well before this day, so that they are not held up in the worst of bureaucratic nightmares.

Venus trines Neptune overnight Fri-Sat. Very lovely, probably not too realistic but who cares? Take a date out to the movies or somewhere very romantic and whisper all the sweet nothings you can muster. Goes well with wine.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries as the week begins, but only for a few hours. Get the most out of the morning with an early swim (under a nice Neptune aspect) , then perhaps a tai chi session. Your home life will be busy and eventful from Friday thru the weekend. I see you squeezing a visit to the doc or other practitioner Wednesday, but be sure to call Friday for any test results. Friday's Sun-Mercury conjunction might make them lose your email or phone number, or just make the office so busy they forget to call. Friday night you try to relax with the significant other, and Saturday you are busy as usual with projects around the house.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus from 10:35 am Sunday till Tuesday night. The Moon-Pluto trine Sunday afternoon can make wishes seem magical; now be careful what you wish for. Earth signs rejoice when Sun in Virgo trines Moon in Taurus late Sunday. Try to harness this practical, productive energy Sunday night; perhaps a craft project occupies your mind and hands, or you build an addition to the home. Moon is inconjunct Mars-Venus in Libra early Tuesday am; an emotional adjustment is necessary to get a relationship back on track. The Moon sextiles Uranus before going void-of-course that evening; technology may be temperamental for perhaps an hour.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini from 8:19 pm Tuesday till early Friday. A Moon-Saturn trine early Wednesday signals a productive day if you stick to it. Squares in the afternoon and evening do not favor communications, so read emails closely before sending, or even better, wait till morning. Thursday should be a great day. Trines to Venus and Mars in the afternoon signal great energy, especially if working with children or on artistic projects. A trine to Neptune in your solar ninth house that evening may help you escape legal penalties. Last aspect before changing signs is a square to Uranus overnight; technology is cranky again.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from 2:50 am Friday thru the weekend. Moon in Cancer squares Jupiter in Aries Friday morn; I hope this is just ordinary morning rush friction, because really, Aries can be testy if he is made even a little late. OK, lay out everything the night before, in case there is an early call in to work. That Sun-retro-Mercury conjunction might be problematical so make sure that this morning of all mornings you get an early start. Having a nice evening chat after the bustle of the day is over, perhaps over an after-dinner drink, will soothe all souls. Saturday has a Moon-Mars square about 7 pm; this square usually tells me that I need to watch what I am doing or I will have to do it over. Pace yourself.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Communications at work may need adjusting in some way, under a Moon aspect to Venus-Mars. Perhaps you have to get a credit or other adjustment to the bill?Leo's best day is probably Thursday, when easy trines dominate the afternoon and evening in your solar eleventh and third houses. Perhaps discussing business or pleasure with friends is on the agenda, or a night on the town with buddies. A great time will be had. Friday's Sun-Mercury conjunction is in your solar twelfth house and may indicate you or someone close to you may have a paperwork snarl. Just go with the flow and improvise.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Moon is in compatible Taurus early in the week, so take advantage of the earth trines on Sunday afternoon and evening, and on Monday afternoon. Best day might be Thursday; Moon's in somewhat stressful Gemini but makes a nice trine to Mars-Venus in your solar second house. Might bring money or extra funds/overtime at work. Friday's Sun-Mercury conjunction in your own sign signals you may have to put the brakes on. Also double-check any statements or other paperwork for serious errors, as they may have to be redone. Go back to Start.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Tuesday's inconjunct between the Moon and Mars-Venus in your sign signals you may have to rearrange your schedule for the day, possibly due to a Taurean's emergency. Thursday evening is quite lovely with a Moon in Gemini trine Mars-Venus in Libra; this may be a romantic date or just babysitting. Make a date with that lovely someone for late Friday night; the Venus-Neptune trine will put stars in everyone's eyes. Mmmm. A bottle of wine might be especially apropos that evening. Yow, Libra sure has her pick almost every night of the week. Saturday night's Moon-Mars square however is just a time-waster; often it means hurry up and wait, or hurry thru something only to have to do it over.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – That Mars-Venus conjunction is still being activated this week; it sits in your solar twelfth house of secrets but I think this secret will not stay secret for long. The conjunction receives transits on Tuesday morn, Thursday night and Friday night. Hmmm. Scorpios can be passionate but don't burn yourself out in just one week. Moon in Cancer from Friday thru the weekend is most compatible; emotions flow, and find resonance in the other. Moon in air sign Libra on Thursday, tho is better for communicating with that someone verbally. This is a necessary part of any relationship, Scorp, so try to make it a productive session.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – That Mars-Venus conjunction of about ten days ago keeps getting activated this week. The conjunction is in your solar eleventh house of friends, in lovely Libra, which is OK with you. You like your romances to be light and friendly. In fact, this may be someone that you dated before and now you two find each other much more interesting. Go for it. Trigger aspects occur on early Tuesday, Thursday night and Friday night. Friday's Sun-Mercury conjunction may cause a snag or two in your solar tenth house of career.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Libra's Mars-Venus conjunction of about ten days ago makes a rather stressful square by signs. They are in your solar tenth house of career, but might indicate you feel like your spouse/significant other is more like an employer. Aspects favor progress, anyway, early Tuesday, Thursday night and Friday night. Take her out to dinner with wine on Friday; trust me on this. You want to get hired, don't you? In other news, the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Friday can snarl matters related to legal matters or publishing. Check messages or call the lawyer's office to keep tabs on progress. Emails and mail can miscarry, so don't assume anything.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – That Mars-Venus conjunction in Libra about ten days ago keeps getting aspects this week. It is in your solar ninth house of legal issues, so these contacts may indicate progress in a legal matter. Perhaps a decision comes down on whether and how much of a fine you will have to pay, etc. If you have manuscripts going to press, pay close attention to matters having to do with your royalty and fees assessed to you by the printer/publisher. Contacts from the Moon to the conjunction occur early Tuesday, Thursday night and Friday night. Friday's is the worst if conducting business, but best if you are just out celebrating a deal with a bottle of champagne with dinner.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon in Taurus is very pleasant for you early in the week, Sun-Tues. Lovely Libra's Venus-Mars conjunction was probably a puzzler for you, and you needed time to think things over. Well, the planets are checking back with you this week (three times!) and want a reply. In other news, the Sun-Mercury conjunction in opposing Virgo on Friday morning can snarl communications with your significant other and ALL others. Make sure you are clear on who is picking up whom, or if you are just meeting somewhere. Not a good day to deliver a speech or conduct an interview.

Chinese Astronomy Recorded Comets and More

by Milky Way Maid

I was astonished when I attended a museum showing of Chinese astronomical artifacts, which toured a couple years ago to the Midwest.

One exhibit displayed a chart of the many different types of comets – 27 in all, according to an ancient chart. Their close observations noted not only the size and shape of the tail, but any discernible differences in the core of the comet. You can view this chart online at here. Thank you to the University of Maine for that.

Comets were called 'broom stars' (tui xing), named after their tails, which they duly noted always pointed away from the sun. They had no idea what the cause of that orientation was, but they made copious notes of that and other details. The Chinese are believed to have made the first observation of the legendary Halley's comet in 240 BC. On its return in 530 BC, they noted that “In September, it was one degree to the northwest of Xiatai (a star in Ursa Major).”

According to the folks at China.org, the Chinese noted in addition to comets, the lunar and solar eclipses (the ones visible in their region), novas, and more. They invented astronomical clocks, and a type of armillary showing the relative positions of the planets. [The Greeks and the Arabs also had armillaries.] Yet astrology as we know it today or even in medieval times was not part of Chinese astronomy.

The Chinese focused more on the constellations, creating one of the earliest star maps ever found. They gave their own distinctive names to our familiar constellations; for example, the Big Dipper was called The Plow. The North Star was Bei Ji. Another constellation was called the Winnowing Basket.

You can read a general overview of Chinese astronomy at http://www.china.org.cn/e-gudai/6.htm
Both the Chinese and the Greeks were fascinated by comets; the Greeks called them “bearded stars,” or aster pogonias. The ones with longer tails were called aster kometas, from which we get the name comet. The Greeks knew that comets were not planets, but were unable to determine their true nature.

However both the Greeks and Chinese read omens into the appearance of a comet. The Greeks tended to link drought and high winds with the appearance of comets, an idea that persisted into the Middle Ages when comets became heralds of disaster. The medieval people believed that comets were a “fiery corruption of the air” that brought earthquakes, disease, famine, etc.

The Chinese read into the appearance of comets something of karmic retribution. They believed that if an emperor was unjust, or had governed badly, that the heavens would make their displeasure known, with the appearance of a “guest star” (another name for a nova) or with other unpredicted changes in the sky.

This widespread folk belief may have been manipulated by parties hungry for power. On at least one occasion, the onset of an multiple-planet conjunction was used by one army to infer that the heavens were displeased with the current regime, and successfully overthrew it.

So keep an eye on the sky if you want to hold on to your throne!

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 22-28, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun enters Virgo at 1:27 am Monday
, the sign of the iconic maiden holding a sheaf of wheat. The woman in the symbol for Virgo has changed over the millennia from a girl of perhaps fifteen to an old maid of forty or so. Perhaps this is related to the precession? I read somewhere that the sign on the Spring Equinox used to be Virgo, when people planted their wheat. Now Virgo occurs in the fall, closer to the harvest. Is this change the reason for the alternation in the age of the archetype? I will have to put out a paper on this later, when I get my sources together.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from 10:49 pm Thursday till next Sunday morning. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction overnight Thursday can put you in a generous mood. Friday morning can be stressful with a possible confrontation with the boss; your hours may change or an assignment ended. Ask for reassignment to resolve bottlenecks because I think that may be your strong suit. The Moon opposes Mars and then Venus from midday to afternoon Saturday. Hmmm, might be a good time to schedule some quality time with that special someone.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – The Sun enters your solar fifth house of fun and romance early Monday. Let's hope that an interesting someone perks up your routine. The Sun then makes an inconjunct to Jupiter late Tuesday, when your losing streak turns to gold. Just be sure to get out before a Pluto aspect late Wednesday claims all your winnings. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Aries early Friday can bring a great boon to someone in your family circle. Health matters are on the agenda Saturday afternoon. Perhaps you visit a loved one in the hospital or nursing home, or have to go to one of those Minute Clinics.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Sun enters your solar fourth house of home and family, so you are likely to spend more time at home this month. A Sun-Jupiter inconjunct to your eleventh house may have you putting up a friend for a few days. There is a Moon-Jupiter conjunction Friday in Aries, so possibly your friend may be really generous in compensating you for your hospitality -- as he leaves. Your fifth and eleventh house axis is very active Saturday afternoon when the moon opposes Venus and Mars in Libra. Take a friend to the races or to the casino and celebrate each other's every little win.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Sun enters your solar third house of schools, communication, and neighbors. A new neighbor may move next door; take over a plate of cookies. A Sun-Jupiter inconjunct may mean that you pass along business cards from your employer (or the personnel dept) to him or her. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in your tenth house of career can signify public popularity, landing a big account, or acting as a mentor to someone at work. A family member may bring their significant other over to meet the family on Saturday.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – The Sun in Leo is inconjunct Uranus in Pisces Sunday evening; you may get an insight into what has been bothering you healthwise. Also you may get called in to work unexpectedly. The Sun enters your solar second house and can give your finances a brief boost; watch overspending. Also it may be a good time to find a financial advisor to teach you more skills in money management. A Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Aries on Friday brings a new lawyer, editor, professor, or pastor into your life, someone who will be very beneficial to you. The association may be brief (two years max) but productive. Try hanging out at a bookstore on Saturday afternoon, when Venus and Mars receive Moon-rays.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – An inconjunct between the Sun in Virgo and Jupiter in Aries late Tuesday may indicate a change for the better in your work situation. Also a hobby may earn you a measure of fame. Wednesday night features a Sun-Pluto trine in earth signs; you can take back control over your romantic life by learning better communication skills with men/women. A Moon-Uranus conjunction Thursday evening can upset your partner; just offer a shoulder to cry on. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction early Friday in your eighth house could bring a legacy or an insurance payment. Venus and Mars receive Moon-rays on Saturday afternoon; time to put in some quality time. Consider hanging out at the mall if looking for someone new.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Jupiter in Aries is inconjunct the Sun in Virgo. Possibly someone from your past reappears, and wants to start over. (or at least resolve some things) A housing issue may the reason for the reappearance. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Aries puts your partner in the most wonderfully sympathetic and generous mood. Enjoy it while it lasts, you know, because Aries is soon off to the next item on his agenda. Saturday afternoon features Moon oppositions to Mars and then Venus, which is a perfectly good aspect to schedule quality time around (that is, if you can fit it into your schedules). The other person sure looks good in whatever light is operative.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Sun moves into your solar eleventh house, bringing a new friend to your life. You might consider joining a new club or becoming more active in it. A Sun-Jupiter inconjunct affecting your sixth house can bring a new consultant to your practitioner's office, someone who may be beneficial to you. Late Wednesday, an online school or bookshop may offer the in-depth info you need. The Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Aries early Friday brings a big break in your job hunt. Possibly a referral or networking tip helps you find out about the job. The Moon opposes Mars and then Venus on Saturday afternoon; to get better acquainted with a special someone, try to schedule quality time for then.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Sun enters your solar tenth house of career. You find the spotlight rather nice. However you may have to break a date set for late Tuesday due to urgent business. Your new duties could bring some very nice increases in salary and perks, if Pluto in your second house has anything to say about it. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in your solar fifth house late Thursday indicates a good time for that rescheduled date; you will be so wonderfully sympathetic and supportive of each other. Take your new partner to meet your friends on Saturday afternoon, when the Moon opposes Mars and then Venus. Friends will find him or her gorgeous and energetic.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Sun enters your solar ninth house, bringing a new lawyer, editor, pastor or professor into your life. This person will make an impression, and might affect your workplace as a consultant or similar function. Sun in Virgo and Pluto in your sign late Wednesday hints that you may team up with this new person to overhaul the company. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Aries early Friday in your fourth house of home and family can bring a foreign guest to the home. Or you may throw open the doors in an open-house party. A Moon opposition to Mars and Venus in Libra affects your fourth and tenth house axis. It is possible that an office romance affects morale at work (not that you are one of the parties in this romance, no). But you may have to enforce company rules on such fraternization.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius as the week begins, till Tuesday morning. A trine to Saturn early Sunday puts you in a serious mood, maybe serious enough to tackle chores to the bitter end. Your energy level is high Monday morn; you may even go for an early jog. Smile for the nice lady you pass on the jogging paths. Brainfog may set in early Tuesday am so be alert on the morning commute. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in your solar eleventh house Aries favors linking up with a club officer for mentoring; at the least, a speaker at this month's meeting will be very enlightening.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from 10:11 am Tuesday till late Thursday. The Full Moon at one degree Pisces is at 1:05 pm Tuesday. It features a Moon-Pluto sextile, helping you call in favors from influential friends. An inconjunct to Saturn Tuesday may indicate a change in your insurance situation. Wednesday night may be a good time to communicate with your partner and clear up misunderstandings. A Moon-Uranus conjunction at 10 pm Thursday can indicate emotional upset; tell yourself the mood will pass. The Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Aries in your solar second house of finances early Friday can urge you into reckless spending; don't do it!

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 15-21, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

OK, retro-phobes, Mercury goes retrograde Friday, August 20 at 3:59 pm, at 19 degrees and 2 minutes of Virgo. The retrograde will probably bother persnickety Virgo more than most other signs of a Mercury transit, just because they expect things to always work perfectly. So they get in a vinegary mood when a program or a tool does not work the way it is supposed to, and look at you with a wrinkled nose like you don't know what you are doing at all, AT ALL.

However, Mercury retrograde is great for travel, because as one astrologer told me, you can be sure that you will always wind up back home. So make the annual trip to the cabin or the boat or the whatever, and just chill out there. But for gorsh sakes, don't sign any contracts.

Venus is conjunct Mars the same day at 13 degrees Libra. I am not sure what to make of that timing, except that hey, so what if the washer is on the blink, the repair guy is sure cute. Romance will be in the air, even if nothing malfunctions, so chat up anybody and everybody.

Libra is the sign of marriage in general, and Librans may even go so far as to host swap parties where people bring the person they have set free with them, so that everyone can meet available 'soul units'. Libra is an air sign, so a certain impartiality, even coolness, can be part of their personality. They will prefer a partner who dresses well, is polite, and never tells dirty jokes, at least not in public. Since Libra is associated with flowers, you might try attending flower shows at the state fair, or the garden department at Home Depot.

Jupiter opposes Saturn at 2 degrees Libra at 4:45 pm Monday
. This is part of a much longer cycle and is key to both personal and economic cyclical trends. Just make note of what transpires that week, for it may help clear up some questions about general trends and turning points in your own life.

Obviously Libra is a happening sign this week, but Libra is a cardinal sign and likes to get things done (usually thru consensus, true, but still she likes to get things on track). So these squares this week will help Libra to get things moving. Lib gets frustrated when nothing is happening, when there is no progress to a goal, so these squares will at least get things moving in a hurry. Things may be a bit too exciting, even traumatic, but try to look on even the worst of events as the best thing that ever happened to you (rather than the worst thing).
