Your Milky Way Horoscope July 1-7, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Mars was in the news last week
, it seems that scientists are pretty sure that there is water locked up under the surface. Article appeared in Smithsonian magazine: http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/science/2012/06/scientists-discover-that-mars-is-full-of-water/ Note that article appeared the week that Mars reached the degree in Virgo when it went retrograde in April.

Mars enters Libra at 8:32 am Tuesday. Hmmm, this kind of gives me pause because of what another astrologer told me years ago: “Libra is the sign of peace but it is also the sign of war.” So every time the planet of war enters the sign of war, I feel I need to take notice. It seems to me that Libra, insistent as she is on equality, will unsheath her sword when she feels she has been stepped on for too long. This Mars transit is too prone to blaming Others for any lack of harmony; however, a healthy expression of the transit is being able to honestly share what it is you want – the key word here is 'honestly' – then the other party can counter with a proposed swap of some kind. A Libra Mars' sense of justice is easily outraged; fairness is extremely important now. The Libra Mars has a balanced sense of justice and finds means that are appropriate to the ends. It is also good for self-expression in the arts or in literary works. Famous people with Mars in Libra include: Abraham Lincoln, John Lennon, John Lindsey, Martin Luther, George Bernard Shaw, and Winston Churchill.

Mercury at 8 degrees Leo sextiles Venus in Gemini at 9:26 am Wednesday. Very nice for holding hands and sweet nothings. Also nice for exchanging recipes for sweet treats. May or may not be creative or artistic – depends on your talents and if it contacts natal planets, but going to a concert sure sounds nice. Don't they have a free concert program in the parks in your area?? Try it out!

Mercury also trines Uranus in Aries at 1:53 pm Wednesday; possibly this may be a very busy day on the internet with bloggers galore posting their news, and possibly trying to get support for a collective action. Venus follows with the same aspect to Uranus at 10:36 pm, which I would think would produce very beautiful fireworks displays. Venus is also TOTALLY charmed by a stranger, possibly a foreigner; Venus could also find something of value just lying around, or receive a surprise small gift.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Sunday morn you find someone to go for a spin on your motorcycle. In other news, you may play Good Samaritan. Mars enters your solar seventh house, where it helps you initiate contacts with others. Add names to your Rolodex, and accept that you and your mate need to state your needs equally. Independence Day favors taking a short trip with your loved ones, possibly to an amusement park. Community service becomes a bigger part of your life the rest of the year.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Mars enters your solar sixth house, where you seek out more places to be of service; the job hunt heats up and you may get more interviews. The Moon is in compatible Capricorn from Monday night thru Wednesday night. Somehow I think Independence Day might be spent cleaning house, possibly with your CDs turned up high so you can dance while you dust n vacuum. Neptune in your eleventh house tends to make swimming at the Y appealing this month.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – On Sunday morn you and an unusual friend take off on a day trip. Mars enters your solar fifth house, where you feel an increased drive to accomplish something in artistic or creative fields. It is also possible that the romance sector may heat up! Independence Day looks good for anything you want to do; your plans might include a short trip. Venus and Ceres are in your sign also, so gardening might be on the to-do list, along with roasting some corn on the grill. Don't forget the butter!

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – Chiron trines your Sun on Sunday, while Pallas squares; you might have to play nurse for yourself or a family member, hopefully nothing too serious. Also you might appointed Health Officer (informally of course) for the family picnic, keeping the foods at safe temperatures, etc. Mars enters your solar fourth house, where you begin to assert your own needs in a healthy way. For Independence Day, I think you will be happy as a clam just holing up at home or at a cabin hideaway.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Sunday morn favors getting away from it all, possibly on a jet. Mars enters your solar third house, where you assert facts and demand logical discussions from others. You may engage in formal debates, or seem overly combative verbally. Independence Day is fine for having friends over, or attending events together. Thursday morning favors going off to a quiet family getaway. Mid or late morning may include a happy surprise. On Friday I see you checking off errands from your to-do list.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Mars enters your solar second house, where debt may complicate your drive to accumulate possessions; however, with counseling and discipline, you can reduce that debt over time and improve your finances. Independence Day may be spent at a quiet hideaway, either at home or at the cabin up north. You are more comfortable with the Moon in Pisces on the weekend, though. Hubby may take the kids off your hands for the afternoon.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – On Sunday morning your mate may talk you into an impulsive day trip somewhere on the motorcycle. Mars enters your solar first house, where you begin to assert yourself more, and may even become more spontaneous. Independence Day may be spent with friends rather than family, possibly on a trip or project sponsored by a club or charity you belong to – your energy is good even late in the day. The Moon is in compatible Aquarius Wednesday night thru Friday. Thursday looks great for loading up the Winnebago, avoiding the crowds in the parks and on the road on the holiday. Friday you might have that heart-to-heart chat with one of the kids.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Mars enters your solar twelfth house, where you begin to act upon your private dreams and the collective unconscious. Also on Tuesday you work on revamping daily chores, the voicemail system, etc to streamline operations. Independence Day may be spent on activities related in some way to career, possibly indirectly such as networking. On Saturday the Moon enters compatible Pisces, when you start the day with an early swim and spend the afternoon figuring out a mystery novel.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag as the week begins, until Monday evening. You may be frustrated Sunday morn if you want to go watch the sunrise and your sweetie doesn't want to; sigh. However, going by yourself can give you that born-to-be-wild rush. Mars enters your solar eleventh house, where you throw yourself into campaigning or collecting for non-profit or humanitarian organizations, or working for humanitarian causes. Independence Day may be spent embarking on a long trip with your mate.

CAPRICORN
- Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from 6:51 pm Monday till Wednesday night. You want to rush to get something done Monday before the holiday, but alas it will probably have to be done over. I recommend using positive affirmations morning and night on Wednesday; you are under a lot of pressure, I think, and customers change their minds last minute. Be strong! Mars enters your solar tenth house, where the climb to the top become more competitive. Somehow I think you might spend Independence Day working, opening up your shop just to catch up on orders.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mars enters your solar ninth house, where college tuition debt becomes an issue; and competition for tenure, fellowships, increases; and legal disputes intensify. The Moon is in Aquarius from 8:26 pm Wednesday till very early Saturday. Independence Day may be spent with your mate and children in whatever they want to do. Thursday you might start tinkering with ideas on expanding the family or playroom. Midday, you just feel like life is good, and are thankful your kids are healthy. Friday midday favors that heart-to-heart chat you've been meaning to do.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Mars enters your solar eighth house, where anything that falls under 'shared resources' becomes a bone of contention. Independence Day might be spent hosting guests and visitors for a cookout. The Moon is in Pisces from 12:29 am Saturday thru the weekend. Saturday morn favors just sleeping in,and don't feel guilty about it. By mid-morning tho you are ready for anything, including loading up the Winnebago for long weekend. Try not to get in a snit at suppertime if someone doesn't feel hungry enough for that supper you slaved over.

Your Milky Way Horoscope June 24-30, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Vesta in Taurus opposes Juno in Scorpio
at the beginning of the week. This is a new one me, folks, so we will all just have to take notes on this one. Aspect is at 22 degrees of the fixed signs, so if you have natal planets there, they will probably be affected by this. This is close to my nodal axis in relationship houses, so something ought to happen.

Saturn goes direct at 4:00 am Monday morning, at 22 degrees 46' of Libra. The few days around the station seem like nothing is happening, but the retrograde period was a chance to FINISH things or RESTRUCTURE payments, organizations, procedures, etc. Now that you have that spanking new filing system in place, keep it up and keep placing documents in their files as you go.

Jupiter at 3 degrees Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces at 3:56 am Monday. This aspect typically sets off a great religious or spiritual renewal at the societal or historical level. At the same time we need to beware of being scammed into donating our car to a charity that turns out to not be a charity, for example. In the words of one of the apocryphal gospel texts, give your money to the poor, but let the money sweat in your hand a little while you find out if this is a worthy place to donate it.

Mercury enters Leo at 10:24 pm Monday. Mercury in Leo is two-sided. On the one hand, he can come off sounding so dictatorial, as if everything HE says is SO much more important than what anyone else says. However, when they harness their flair for dramatic presentation, they can communicate in vividly and effectively. Yes, this is useful in the theatre, but can also be used in the classroom or boardroom (like when making otherwise boring presentations). They are capable of giving cold data a human touch. Famous people with Mercury in Leo include: Ernest Hemingway, Paul Tillich, Casey Stengel, Jimmy Dean, Eddie Fisher – now hold onto your seats for this trio: Napoleon, Fidel Castro, and Benito Mussolini.

Venus makes a Direct Station at 11:07 am Wednesday, at 7 degrees 30' of Gemini. This is so that she can stand in the spotlight on the stage and let your applause wash over her like a big wave on the sand. So make some noise, throw some flowers, let her know you love her a lot. During the Venus retrograde, we may have had a change of heart about someone or something; now that Venus is moving forward, we need to hold on to this ability to give someone the benefit of the doubt, let them go if need be, but with every wish for their happiness. We need to guard against becoming hard-hearted again. On a practical note, if you have this station on a natal planet or in your second house of finances, you might see a wobble in the value of your bank account or investments or even a break in your income. Barbara Koval noted that when a Venus station occurred on sensitive degrees, prices for the dollar and commodities ruled by Venus (sugar, cattle, copper, art, money and banking) could see historic highs or lows.

The Sun opposes Pluto (11:02 am) and squares Uranus (4:10 pm) on Friday. This is a strong cardinal T-square, and makes for a day when you do not want to rock any boats, not a work where you could be fired in a second, not at home where you could be sleeping on the couch or have to spend a night at a motel. With Uranus there the chance of not only separations and estrangements, but also accidents or more likely, mechanical and electrical/electronic failures. So have your computer files backed up this week!

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – The Moon in Libra from Tues.-Thurs. puts the emphasis on working with partners or with the public. Thursday night is especially favorable for brainstorming or for dealing with the printers. Midday Thursday you squeeze in a mini-workout or walk at lunch hour. Friday from midday to evening is very stressful for the cardinal signs; Saturn and Pluto say NO very loud and clear. Just throw in the towel and make other plans.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – That Juno-Vesta opposition in your relationship houses at the beginning of the week ought to set off some sparklers. Go somewhere, anywhere, and say hi to people. Sunday afternoon favors a short trip. Monday's Jupiter aspect could see progress in working for a non-profit or a fraternal organization. Thursday night favors a music concert or art class. If you get up early Friday you'll have time to write. Friday pm does not favor embarking on any trips, long or short.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – It's too easy for you to blow things out of proportion midday Sunday; it's not like you, get a grip, girl. That Jupiter-Neptune square in mutable signs Monday could affect you personally; see notes above. On Tuesday morn you can use that Mars energy to zip thru chores (even before work) – you might even throw an impromptu party that night. Thursday afternoon you could ask for a favor or even a small loan off a friend. But I don't see you getting that real bank loan on Friday.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – Sunday afternoon favors shopping and errands. On Monday be careful of places on the internet that you are not already familiar with; danger of scammers. Early risers on Thursday gets lots of housework done – even before going to work. You may be able to ask a favor or give a favor Thursday afternoon. Friday from midday to evening is very stressful for the cardinal signs; Saturn and Pluto say NO very loud and clear. Saturday afternoon is very nice for playing games or watching the local softball team.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – The Moon is in Leo for a few hours on Sunday. Sunday night favors getting down to the nitty-gritty about joint finances with your mate. The Jupiter-Neptune square Monday affects your house of joint finances and friends/clubs. There might be something you do not understand clearly about your insurance plan or wills. Mercury moves into your sign this week; you can use your flair for drama to make memorable presentations at work.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo from 7:42 am Sunday till midday Tuesday. Sunday afternoon favors going to a movie matinee; catch up on those films you wanted to see. That Jupiter-Neptune square in mutable signs Monday could affect you personally; see notes above. Tuesday morn is quite energetic and you can knock off a few errands before work. Friday can be stressful re your money houses, with Saturn and Pluto involved in a nasty T-square; make sure you have cash on hand in case the ATMs go on the fritz.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Moon is in Libra from 1:25 pm Tuesday till Thursday afternoon. You enjoy catching up with a friend Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday night you enjoy planning a trip. Early risers get a lot of chores done before work Thursday. You might learn of some benefit offered by the headquarters of the company you work for on Thursday afternoon. Friday from midday to evening is very stressful for the cardinal signs; Saturn and Pluto say NO very loud and clear.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio from 4:32 pm Thursday till Saturday afternoon. Thursday night begins with an inspiring trine to Neptune, possibly in the form of an interesting film. If you get up about 6 am Friday, you may meet a new man on your jog. The morning looks good for talking your way out of a ticket, however a do not repeat do NOT continue on your way only to run into an accident. Saturday afternoon favors sports n games with friends.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Tuesday night favors a party with friends, just duck out before 11:30 when perhaps noise complaints bring the cops to the door. Another friend may provoke a laugh or an insight early Wednesday. Friday can be stressful re your money houses, with Saturn and Pluto involved in a nasty T-square; make sure you have cash on hand in case the ATMs go on the fritz. The Moon is in Sag from 6:04 pm Saturday thru the weekend. The only aspect is a square to Neptune that night, so I suggest letting someone else drive – unless you like driving in circles.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Sunday afternoon favors a picnic or cookout, just make sure you have your Mapquest directions in hand when setting out. That night finds you back at home enjoying playing detective with the TV show or mystery novel. You are skeptical by nature but could get snookered by some guru-type on TV Monday. You like to come in early Thursday and get a lot done. That also means you don't have to feel guilty about enjoying a movie that night. Friday from midday to evening is very stressful for the cardinal signs; Saturn and Pluto say NO very loud and clear.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Midday Sunday does not favor balancing the checkbook unless you have someone to look over your work. Monday's square might have you pondering how to improve the lot of children. The Moon is in a compatible air sign Tues-Thurs. Tuesday night especially favors holding a brainstorm with like-minded people to solve whatever kind of problems you are having. Thursday's Mars wants to get you out for a walk at lunchtime. I don't think you'll be able to schedule anything for Saturday night with scatterbrained friends; if anything, just hold an open house and see who shows up.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - You really don't start to enjoy Sunday till the afternoon; then you are ready to either party – or take the kids to the zoo. Early Monday sees the chance of a very interesting dream, possibly religiously-themed or spiritually significant. That Jupiter-Neptune square in mutable signs Monday could affect you personally; see notes above. Tuesday night favors creative outlets, especially music and painting. Early risers on Thursday can get a lot done, fun stuff like balancing the checkbook. Thursday's lunch break favors journaling or writing down that great idea for a novel. But don't expect to find an agent for it on Friday.

Your Milky Way Horoscope June 17-23, 2012

By Milky Way Maid Happy Father's Day this Sunday to all the dads! Both the sun and moon are in Gemini, putting everyone in a mood for short trips or visits, chatter, focusing on the small children and keeping them busy. In some ways, we may treat this like an ordinary day, filled with errands and email and daily life. Happy Birthday, Cancer! And Happy Summer Solstice! The Sun enters Cancer on Wednesday at 7:09 pm. Happily, the Moon is also in mid-Cancer for a very watery solstice; let's hope that translates into rain for some drought-affected areas. Cancer natives sometimes spend too much time declaring their feelings are hurt, when their real talent is for nurturing and soothing the emotional pains of others. Cancers can be notably persistent and tenacious, sentimental – keeping old souvenirs of your past, domestic – skilled in the culinary arts, Your ranks are filled with such different performers as Ringo Starr, trumpeter Louis Armstrong, choreographer Bob Fosse, Gower Champion, dancer Twyla Tharp, Merv Griffin, Paul Anka and pianist Van Cliburn. Other famous Cancerians include astronaut-senator John Glenn, Julius Caesar, Rembrandt, Nelson Rockefeller, Franz Kafka, Arthur Ashe, Marc Chagall, and Helen Keller. Mercury at 22 degrees Cancer squares Saturn in Libra at 12:05 pm Wednesday. Mercury-Saturn sticks to the facts, thank you, and is interested in the bottom line. This may lead to more pink slips being issued just when the jobs report for the year thus far has been pretty good. Mercury-Saturn is typically interpreted as guilt and worry, with a capital G and a capital W. This is not a reassuring Solstice. On the plus side, Sun trine Neptune brings out the best of our giving nature, as we donate to food banks and share what we have with others. Ceres enters Gemini at 6:52 pm Saturday. Ceres in Gemini people talk about health foods and the ecology. Helpful to one and all, they are quick to lend a hand. As natural teachers, they educate without lecturing or talking down to their audience; they may work with children who are retarded or have some kind of learning disability. The Sun at 2 degrees Cancer trines Neptune in Pisces at 11:54 pm Saturday and into Sunday. Sun trine Neptune brings out the best of our altruistic side; idealism and creativity flourish, too. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season. ARIES - March 20-April 19 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Mars is trine Vesta in Taurus; you may find a profitable sideline in installing security devices or in computer consulting. Wednesday may be the most stressful day not because of the Solstice per se but because of the Mercury-Saturn square in other cardinal signs – OUCH! I am hoping you do not get a pink slip; I am hoping you will be busy crunching numbers and making spreadsheets. Vesta and Ceres are helping you grow your money and protect your paycheck this summer. TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – In the Solstice chart, your ruler Venus sextiles Uranus and Pallas in Aries; you may finally latch onto a good work-from-home opportunity, something you cook up yourself. The week begins with the Moon in Taurus but only for an hour. Your communication houses may be stressed by the Mercury-Saturn square, but hopefully it just means you won't feel like chatting a lot. Ceres enters your second house, and that also repeats a theme of doing more with healthy recipes and growing-your-own veggies or herbs. GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini from 1:24 am Sunday till midday Tuesday. Moon square Neptune Sunday morn makes most of us fuzzy-headed; best to sleep late or wake to music. Gemmies enjoy the comic wordplay at a dinner/comedy club. Sunday night's Moon-Venus conjunction is for giving each other TLC. Late Monday offers great advice from a mentor. You get a personal New Moon on Tuesday when the Moon joins Sun about 11 am; semi-sextile Ceres in Taurus means you may benefit from growing your own herbs. CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from 1:34 pm Tuesday till late Thursday. You may eyeball plans for a spiritual retreat Tuesday; it may involve a long trip. The dj's are very funny on your Wed. a.m. commute, just keep your mind on the traffic tho. See notes about the Wednesday Solstice above. Midday Thursday, worry less about your own needs than about what kind of a difference you can make. I see you starting your weekend a bit early Friday afternoon; just clear it with the boss first. Late Saturday you do one of your random acts of kindness. LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Wednesday's Solstice has a positive effect for you, if you affiliate with a national service group or a national electronic communications interest group; this could be anything from a bloggers promo service to a broadcasting org. The Moon is in Leo from 11:47 pm Thursday till next Sunday morn. You talk a lot about your own needs late Thursday, but you know, you benefit more from focusing LESS on your own navel. A broadcasting offer could fall in your lap Friday pm. A Saturday p.m. performance inspires your fans. VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Mercury is square Saturn in Libra; you may donate time or money to charitable organizations. Just be sure to avoid locking yourself into monthly donations because your situation could change a bit. The Solstice occurs in your eleventh house of organized groups, where you might take an officer position at least for the summer. LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – In the Solstice chart, your ruler Venus is sextile Uranus and Pallas in Aries; your spouse may enjoy teaching in technical subjects. There is some chance of brief separations due to long trips, but that just makes reunions more fun. The Solstice occurs in your solar tenth house of career, but with a stressful square between Mercury and Saturn. This could mean that the workplace becomes more serious, a place where you have to watch what you say very carefully. It could also mean that you are either a student or mentor or even both! SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - In the Solstice chart, your co-ruler Mars trines Vesta, suggesting that you make progress in protecting your privacy and setting boundaries. Your other co-ruler Pluto squares Pallas and Uranus, promising opportunity if you offer your services in a technical or electronic field. You may laugh but the Solstice chart seems to say that your words will be in print. You may go back to school, possibly with a free online course. I know of someone who is being appointed to a training position at the local legal services office, and that fits, too. SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Jupiter squares Neptune; relationship and family matters may fall into the legal system if you cannot get your act together. At best, the family may enroll in a church or volunteer at charitable functions. The Solstice falls in your solar eighth house of wills, insurance, joint accounts. You may have to sign some legal documents, appeal a denial of benefits, change insurance carriers. CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Saturn squares Mercury in Cancer; you may spend time in more serious discussions than usual, crunch more numbers, have to issue pink slips. At best, you may be cast in the role of an authority, and conduct seminars. The Solstice itself occurs in your seventh house of partners, and with Saturn squaring it, some job or relationships may come to an end. You may feel like you have to choose between your job or your marriage, even if that is not really the case. AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Uranus is conjunct Pallas and sextile Venus; you may have an opportunity to teach children introductory courses in technical or electronic subjects, including computer skills. The Solstice itself occurs in your solar sixth house of work and health. Let's say you write a medical textbook – OK, skip that idea, how about: you need to become more disciplined in your health regimen, what you eat, the hours you keep, etc. PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - In the Solstice chart, your ruler Neptune squares your co-ruler Jupiter. On one level this could mean a crisis of faith, with you turning one way or the other into greater faith or total skepticism. Just beware of being pressured to sign over a house or car to a charity that may not really be a bona fide charity. The Solstice itself occurs in your solar fifth house, which is a wonderfully creative place to have it. You may take an art class, either how-to or art history. If you already have a background in music, you may learn how to do notation so those wonderful tunes in your head can get down on paper

Your Milky Way Horoscope June 10-16, 2012

By Milky Way Maid Jupiter enters Gemini at 1:22 pm Monday, where it remains thru most of June, 2013. Jove in Gemini is quite the witty emcee. Jove here has many talents but patience and persistence are not among them. Doesn't care for manual work or routine. Can find success in writing, brokerage, the education field, linguistics, performing (especially comedy), and in the airline or travel industries. Often has several projects going on at once; invented multi-tasking. Has a thousand questions but doesn't always remember to wait for an answer. Famous people with Jupiter in Gemini include Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Phyllis Diller, Barbra Streisand, Charles Dickens, Dag Hammarskjold, Greta Garbo, Thomas Edison, and Henry Ford II. Mercury at 8 degrees Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn at 9:04 pm Monday. This aspect could border on obsession – but it's good for dedicated research and analysis, or forensic work. On the lighter side, you enjoy cuddling up in the easy chair with a good murder mystery – or writing one! Chiron makes a station in the wee hours Tuesday at 9 degrees of Pisces, ruling the feet. It is square Venus in Gemini and trine Mercury in Cancer. You might try some light massage to relieve any minor foot troubles; Venus offers a pedicure and skin salve, too. COOL LINK ALERT! You may take up a new hobby or sport. Also on Monday, a Pluto aspect accents your health houses, so you may have to go in for some medical testing, but I see them finding the problem. On Tuesday you may decide to take the plunge with some software to address weaknesses in your record-keeping. The middle of the week may be the busiest with calls and errands. PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from Sunday till late Monday night. You may not get a thank-you Sunday afternoon; but that isn't why you do things, now is it? by Milky Way Maid Dear Readers: I wanted to post a bit more info on the spectacular and meaningful Venus transit of the Sun which occurs this week, along with a repost of my article from 6-15-2011. OK, you came here looking for the exact times that Venus crosses the Sun. Here goes: FIRST CONTACT: The leading edge of Venus first strikes the Sun in late afternoon of June 5 at 6”04 pm EDT. Venus begins her contact at the upper left (northeast) edge of the Sun's disk, and proceeds to the lower right. SECOND CONTACT: The point when the shadow of the planet Venus is entirely withing the Sun's disk is projected to be at 6:22 pm EDT. Note that times may vary by a minute or two depending on where you are in your time zone (in other words, your latitude). But I am assured that these times are exact for the cities of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. LENGTH OF TRANSIT: Six hours. Natch, we will not be able to watch the entire transit because the Sun will SET at 8:21 pm on the East Coast. If you wanted to watch more of the transit, you should have booked a flight to Hawaii, Alaska, or perhaps Asia. Venus will then become visible, like normal, after dawn on Wednesday. PRECAUTIONS: Protect your eyesight if viewing this transit. Just like viewing an eclipse or any appearance of the sun, please wear protective goggles or use a pinhole viewer. One type of goggle or filter specifically recommended is the #14 welder's filter. Even better are “Eclipse Shades” which are cheap and safe; they resemble 3D glasses for watching old sci-fi movies. Another option is a hand-held Eclipse Viewer available from Rainbow Symphony at rainbowsymphony.com/soleclipse.html BINOCULARS: You may wish to view the eclipse closeup thru binoculars or a telescope. However, you still need a protective device, and it should cover the FRONT of the binocs, NOT over the eyepiece. Optical solar filters can be had from Orion Telescopes & Binoculars at telescope.com. PINHOLE VIEWER: Take a piece of cardboard about 8 x 8 inches or so, punch a small hole in the center, and angle it so the sunlight peeps thru the hole onto a sheet of paper held below it. It really does work; I have used it years ago in viewing an eclipse. Experiment with moving the paper closer or further from the cardboard. You could also make a couple of cardboard viewers with different sizes of holes, from a pinprick to a nail hole to a hole punch. THOUGHTS: Since the beginning of the current Mayan cycle was in about 3100 BC, and since the advent of writing also dates from that era, it is possible that this Venus transit may mark a radical advance in communications. See below for the mention of Susan Custer and her correlation of Venus transits with advances in communications. I have not tried to find if there was a Venus transit around 3100 BC, but the fact that a Venus transit occurs in the year of the end of the cycle is sure intriguing. The article from June of 2011 follows here: The year 2012 is not only the culmination of the Mayan calendar's Long Count, it is not only marked by the Neptune-Pluto square (discussed in a previous entry on this column), it is also the year that Venus makes another trip across the Sun. AND we will also see a solar eclipse within weeks of that Venus transit, one that aligns with the Pleiades star cluster in the sign Taurus. The ancient Mayans (not to mention astrologer Barbara Hand Clow) believe that the Pleiades was a gateway for the ancients to come to earth or conversely, for shamans of several cultures to expand their minds. Venus does not cross the Sun but rarely. She makes her visits in pairs, spaced eight years apart. But these paired visits may occur 105-130 years apart. So we are rather privileged to be able to view her transits in this decade with all the high-power telescopes trained on her progress across the Sun. Venus made a transit of the Sun in June 8, 2004, at 17 degrees Gemini. Venus will make her return trip on June 6, 2012 at 15 degrees Gemini. Astrologer Susan Custer interprets the Gemini transits as presaging advances in communications and shrinking the 'global village.' For example, the 1631 and 1639 transit was the year that mail service was first instituted, in Denmark and Sweden. In 1874, the Atlantic telegraph cable was completed. Magellan sailed around the globe during the Venus transits in the 1600s. You may read her article on the topic on her website, The Astrology Page dot com, at http://www.theastrologypage.com/Archives/transit_of_venus.htm The Mayans revered Venus, some might say they feared her even more. But they built temples and other observatories aligned to key phases in her cycle. Kukulkan was deemed a manifestation of Venus. Kukulkan, according to some, symbolized the return of the Christ energy, a time to rebalance the spiritual and material values we hold. Some transits of Venus have been accompanied by the most dreadful events. The 2004 transit marked the year of the gigantic tsunami that killed 275,000 people. Yet this event triggered a spontaneous outpouring of concern and donations for the relief of the survivors rendered homeless and jobless. (A previous transit marked the year that the Spanish conquistadores subjugated Mexico.) The fact that this second leg of the series occurs in Gemini may hold out some hope that we may see an advance in communications or internet capability, similar to the Sagittarius transits in the 1600s. Let's look at what else happened in 2004 for more clues. On Jan. 4, 2004, Spirit, a NASA Mars Rover, lands on that planet. (It ceased communicating all too soon but was fixed remotely and resumed its chatter on Feb. 6.) The Queen Mary 2 is christened on Jan. 8. (She embarks on her first Trans-Atlantic crossing on April 16.) On Feb. 12, the city of San Francisco began issuing marriage licenses to gay couples who wished to wed. Massachusetts legalizes same-sex marriage on May 17. On March 15, the discovery of the farthest natural object in the solar system (so far) was announced with the naming of Sedna. On March 29, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia join NATO. On April 1, Google introduced gmail. On May 24, North Korea bans mobile phones. On May 26, the New York Times publishes a list of its journalistic failings, including flawed reporting about the buildup to the 2003 launch of the war in Iraq. On June 11, the probe Cassini-Huygens makes its closest flyby of Phoebe. On June 21 and Sept. 29, the first privately funded space plane achieves space flight, SpaceShipOne. On June 24, New York state declares capital punishment to be unconstitutional. On Dec. 8, the Cuzco Declaration is signed in Cuzco, Peru, establishing the South American Community of Nations. On Dec. 25, Cassini orbiter releases Huygens probe which successfully landed on Saturn's moon Titan on January 14, 2005. (Events listed above are from the HistoryOrb.com webpages.) So we can see that 2004 was not just about gloom and doom and disaster, although some terrible hurricanes, earthquakes, and of course the Dec. 26 tsunami occurred. The year was also marked by private space travel, solar system discoveries and exploration, gmail, gay marriage rights, and the expansion of international working groups (NATO, the South American Community of Nations). In 2012, we may see more ordinary people embark on space flights, the scientific conclusions of some of the 2004 landings may be released, gay marriage may once again go forward, and greater international cooperation. Let us hope so, anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RE the solar eclipse of 2012, let me look in the ephemeris... NASA shows an Annular Solar Eclipse on May 20 – actually May 21 in Asia. Its path skirts the edges of the East China Sea, Japan, the Aleutian Islands, then to California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Texas. It is at zero degrees Gemini, reinforcing the Venus transit later in the same sign. BTW there is a conjunction of Saturn with the star Spica on May 11, the second of a series of contacts between them. A chart cast for Washington D.C. on May 20, at 7 pm shows Mars high and conjunct the MC at 10 degrees Virgo. The Ascendant is 27 degrees Scorpio. Venus is setting and the Sun and Moon are just above the horizon in the West. Jupiter and Mercury are just below the horizon. Pluto is in the second house, Neptune in the third near the IC, Uranus in the fourth, Saturn in the eleventh. The MC and Mars trine Pluto. Venus is trine Saturn. Mercury is semisquare Uranus. Jupiter is sesquiquadrate Pluto. Your Milky Way Horoscope June 3-9, 2012

By Milky Way Maid Hey, in case you still haven't heard, Venus will make one of her rare crossings of the Sun on June 5-6, 2012. The NASA.gov site will have live video of her trek on http://sunearthday.nasa.gov/2012/transit/webcast.php, the ShadowAndSubstance.com site is overloaded with visitors, but there is a whole website devoted to the topic at TransitofVenus.org Is that amazing or what? Astrologically, the Sun is conjunct Venus at 15 degrees Gemini at 9:09 pm Tuesday. On a personal level, this may merely mean more small talk with loved ones, being polite, dealing with money and/or possessions, being a salesperson. Neptune goes retrograde on Monday at 5:03 pm, at 3 degrees, 9' of Pisces. Neptune direct tends to swell things, things like the prices of stocks, hopes, water balloons. I fear that Neptune retrograde will let the air out of some balloons, literally and metaphorically. This is the same day as the Lunar Eclipse at 14 degrees, 8' Sag, at 7:03 am Eastern Time. The Moon also opposes Venus, which in turn squares Mars. Relationships begun under a Venus-Mars square can have an intense physical attraction, which unfortunately does not usually last very long. Mars does trine Vesta at 15 degrees Taurus, so lets hope that a sane, practical approach will solve money and relationship problems. ALSO, since this eclipse is followed shortly by the Venus crossing, that should give an extra oomph to breakthroughs or new inventions in communications. Mercury enters Cancer at 7:16 am Thursday. Mercury in Cancer has strong intuitive ability – you just KNOW something without slogging thru a deductive process. If well-aspected, this Mercury has a great memory especially for facts and figures, dates and names. Their weakness is that their mental processes can be clouded by too much emotion; their strength is their empathetic sensitivity to others and ability to connect on an emotional level. Famous people with Mercury in Cancer include Thomas Mann, Prince Philip, Van Cliburn, Paul Anka and David Rockefeller. COOL LINK ALERT! Mercury enters your solar second house on Thursday; you may crunch numbers, sign a contract, find an accountant to help sort out the financial picture. Mercury enters your solar ninth house on Thursday; you may set out on a long trip, or sign up for a class. The Lunar Eclipse puts your money houses under stress; possibly you will have to deal with debts or insurance in one way or another. You go back to laughing things off that night, perhaps by visiting a comedy club. Monday morning may find you under pressure to rush, which usually does not come out well. The Lunar Eclipse in your sign will put you under pressure while the eclipse is in effect – possibly will pressure to make a commitment in a relationship, which you are generally reluctant to do. CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Lunar Eclipse puts your health houses under stress; by all means have your annual physical to catch problems early, and follow the best health advice you can find. The Moon is in Capricorn from 8:31 am Tuesday till Thursday morn. You feel hopeful and idealistic midday Tuesday. Plans for that evening (and Wednesday night) may be canceled so don't get upset. Mars helps you accomplish much on Wednesday, and also helps with arguing your case forcefully. Mercury enters your solar seventh house on Thursday; you may run into your doppelganger soon. AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Lunar Eclipse puts your fifth and eleventh houses under stress; this is typically a time when friends are not supportive of your creative pursuits, and you might wind up seeking new friends who are kindred spirits. The Moon is in Aquarius from 10:17 am Thursday till Saturday afternoon. Thursday night does not favor friendly gatherings, since it is too easy to get into pitched arguments. However, it does favor letting off some steam in sports or other physical activity. Friday has a lovely trine to Venus late morning; indulge the children, or visit an art museum. Mercury enters your solar sixth house on Thursday; you may act as Social Secretary, run to the printers for invitations, have a health check-up. PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – The Lunar Eclipse puts your fourth and tenth houses under stress; juggling home and family (plus hubby's demands) is more difficult during the months that the eclipse is in effect.
