Mercury at 7 degrees Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 7:13 am Sunday. On the one hand, this is a good aspect for doing detail work. On the other hand, you will be in quite a gloomy mood, and maybe even considering terminating a relationship or firing an employee. You are too obsessed with the bottom line, when you need to be more practical and look for approaches that work. Your outlook is much too negative for making major decisions; talk things over with an older person you respect, like dad or a mentor.
Mercury is conjunct Mars at 12 degrees Taurus at 8:33 pm Tuesday. Wow, last week you were really getting' mad because you kept pushing at a thing and darn it, it just wouldn't move. Now with this conjunction, you are ready to let fly (verbally) at the object of your frustration or anyone in the way. On the other hand you could write a very effective letter to the president of the company, or to the County Clerk, or whomever is at the nexus of the problem.
We have a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees, 31' Taurus at 8:28 pm Thursday. It is accompanied by Mars and Mercury very close to the lights. Also Venus just enters Gemini at midday. And I better mention that Scorpio will get a corresponding solar eclipse this fall on November 3, at 11 degrees Scorpio. For an interesting interpretation of this May eclipse, see Marina's column at http://darkstarastrology.com/solar-eclipse-may-2013/ There is even a fifteen-minute video by Donna Page on the eclipse on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsKeL9AR2TM You go, Donna! I must confess that this eclipse contacts a major point on my own chart so I will be anxiously watching the effects.
Venus enters Gemini at 11:03 am Thursday. Venus in Gemini often uses his quick wit as a crutch in social situations, leading to superficial and ultimately unsatisfying relationships. But a more mature Venus can add not only sparkle to conversation, but also elevation and zest. You can learn to listen well, and create equal exchange. This is a very cheerful Venus, and that is nothing to sneeze at. This Venus needs mental attraction rather than physical ones, preferring intellectual pursuits. Famous people with Venus in Gemini include: both First Lady Jackie Kennedy and her mate, President John F. Kennedy, playwright William Shakespeare, former Beatle Ringo Starr, astronaut and senator John Glenn, baby doctor Benjamin Spock, and musicians or composers Van Cliburn, Richard Strauss, and Yehudi Menuhin.
The Sun and Mercury are conjunct at 20 degrees Taurus at 5:10 pm Saturday. The Sun-Mercury conjunction is one of the key points in the economic cycle, so one should watch the stock market and other economic indicator announcements. What news does Mercury bring the Sun? Well, looking at where Mercury has visited just this week, he made a stop to talk to Saturn (tight budgets, possible job losses) across the aisle, and had tea with Mars (debt and war), so probably he will not have a lot of happy talk to pass along to the Sun on Saturday.

The Sun at 8 degrees Taurus opposes retrograde Saturn in Scorpio at 4:27 am Sunday. Sun-Saturn oppositions can be the most frustrating for fixed signs like Taurus because Taurus will not stop pushing against the “obstacle” – Saturn – and Saturn is not going to move or break. The aspect is about balancing your own needs with those of others; try a little horse trading, favor for favor.
Mars at 8 degrees Taurus opposes retrograde Saturn in Scorpio at 1:12 am Wednesday, May 1. Taurus is gettin' mad now, he's been pushing against that obstacle half a week, and it still hasn't moved. Some projects may totally fail that ran into difficulties six months ago. Anger (Mars) needs to be aired or sublimated in physical activity, but at the same time you may need to learn to relax deeply and release the awful stress of this transit.
Mercury enters Taurus at 11:37 am Wednesday. Mercury in Taurus is a little bit slower than in Aries or Gemini, but once he learns something, he never forgets it. Mercury in Taurus has a more hands-on style of learning, so rather than read something from a book, it is better to let them try out experiments for themselves and SEE the mechanical or scientific principles in action. Famous people with Mercury in Taurus include: ballerina Margot Fonteyn, philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, singers Barbra Streisand, Perry Como and Bing Crosby, composer Richard Wagner, conductor Otto Klemperer, and publisher Henry Luce.
Mercury at 5 degrees Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 12:31 am Saturday. Mercury when combined with Neptune has a different style of learning something; he tends to absorb it rather than memorize rote definitions. Taurus is a more hands-on style of learning, anyway. Intuition is high but communications can be fuzzy. A good aspect for looking into New Age topics like ESP, reincarnation, karma, etc. Set aside logic for later, and let your imagination lead you to insights.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to balance the books and manage debt (Mars). Mercury enters your solar second house on Wednesday; you may do well selling off items at rummage or on eBay, especially if you make money on fees such as brokerage – but not on Wednesday itself. Rather, the Solar Eclipse in Taurus on Thursday will probably mark the beginning of this new phase in your earnings career. Stick to routine Friday morning.
TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to accomplish goals while conserving your energies. Midday Sunday you may find someone to trade favors with. Mercury enters your sign midday Wednesday; it combines with Mars that night, giving a passion to your arguments. You have a Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees Taurus at 8:28 pm Thursday; it may be frustrating at first to get rolling but the combined energy of Sun, Moon, Mars and Mercury can overcome any obstacle.
GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to handle the health crisis of someone close to you; you may have to juggle appointments in order to take someone to medical tests. Ceres in your second house catches a sextile to the Solar Eclipse; things happen behind the scenes to strengthen your financial picture.
CANCER - June 21-July 22 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to balance quality time with the kids and donating your time to non-profits or clubs you belong to; you might try combining the two. Mercury enters your solar eleventh house on Wednesday; you may talk more about your “causes” and with Mars also there, you can be rather impassioned. Best day may be early Saturday, when you might try to steal some quiet time to journal, brainstorm, or meditate.
LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to balance the demands of career and family life. Mercury enters your solar tenth house on Wednesday; we may hold more business meetings or make presentations. Also we may be honored with request to mentor someone. The Solar Eclipse affects your career sector, but it may be years before you realize what exact effects were set in motion.
VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to reconcile what you thought you knew with new information. Your ruler Mercury enters your solar ninth house on Wednesday, in compatible Taurus; you may set out on a long trip, enroll in a class, or act as a spokesperson. Mercury catches a nice sextile to Moon-Neptune in Pisces, when your imagination and intuition can be high; give yourself some quality time for artistic pursuits.
LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to balance the books and manage debt (Mars). On Tuesday afternoon, ruler Venus catches a lovely trine to the Moon in Capricorn, when you may find someone to trade favors at work with. Mercury enters your solar eighth house on Wednesday; you may break down taboos about discussing certain topics, especially with one's partner, and especially about things like wills and insurance and joint finances.
SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to maintain control over your own life while balancing the demands of a partner. Mercury enters your solar seventh house on Wednesday; we tend to learn things about our partner that we'd never have guessed otherwise. Also, a Pluto trine the Sun may mean we are called upon to rise to the occasion midday Wednesday, so that may mean using your First Aid training or it may mean chairing a meeting in the absence of the regular chair-person.
SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling with health crises, although it may be those of people close to you; visit loved ones in the hospital. The Moon is in Sag from Sunday till Monday morning. Sag will tend to over-react midday Sunday, making a mountain out of a molehill, so chill out a bit before spouting off. Mercury enters your solar sixth house on Wednesday; you may schedule check-ups and be busier at work.
CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to balance the demands of children and volunteering for local charities; perhaps the kids can come along and learn the value of volunteering. The Moon is in Capricorn from 8:21 am Monday till Wednesday morning. A late coffee break Monday may be a good time to draw out suggestions from staffers. Monday night favors taking in a sporting event. Tuesday afternoon favors making quality time with the children. Mercury enters your solar fifth house on Wednesday; you may act as the social secretary and make the reservations for a party or excursion.
AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to reconcile demands of career and family life. Mercury enters your solar fourth house on Wednesday; you may revisit the old hometown or flip through old yearbooks. The Moon is in Aquarius from 10:20 am Wednesday till Friday afternoon. Don't let pessimism late Wednesday govern your decisions; you will feel much more optimistic within 24 hours. Stick to routine Friday morning.
PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Sunday and Wednesday may find you struggling to reconcile what you thought you knew with new information. Mercury enters your solar third house, with more deliberate speech and writing than usual. The Moon is in Pisces from 2:25 pm Friday till next Sunday night. Friday night travel is not favored unless you have a driver or are taking some type of mass transit. Saturday morning finds you with good energy for getting errands done. Schedule quality time with a companion Saturday afternoon, possibly a relative or neighbor.

Everything was Aries last week. This week, the Taurus and Scorpio axis dominates.
Venus at 8 degrees Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 3:43 am Monday – note that 8 degrees is a critical degree for fixed signs, so this may have more effect than usual on people with planets in fixed signs. (This point will be reiterated when the Sun opposes Saturn on April 28, at the same degree.) Venus-Saturn oppositions can be problematic we are divided between work (Saturn) and play or enjoyment (Venus), so maybe we call in sick to work, but then it rains at the beach anyway so we go home and wind up cleaning out the junk drawer. There is also the chance of money restrictions, such as the cash machines not working, or you are given a very tight budget to work with for, say, a play's props, forcing you to improvise, and very creatively I might add.
Mercury at 16 degree Aries sextiles Jupiter in Gemini at 11:25 pm Tuesday. Mercury and Jupiter are both mental planets, with one governing practical and manual skills, and the other ruling theoretical principles. A sextile is good for studying any academic subject, taking tests and quizzes, and particularly for oral exams. Cooperative business dealings go well. Even taking short trips is favored. Children benefit from tutors, profs find eager students, and in general the teacher-student relationship is productive.
A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse hits on 5 degrees, 46' Scorpio at 3:57 pm Thursday. Mars and the Sun loosely oppose Moon and Saturn, with a sextile to Neptune in Pisces, hmmm. Sounds like a good time to shoot yourself in the foot, you know what I mean? An irresistible force (Mars) meets an immoveable object (Saturn) and somebody could get hurt (Neptune). Try luring the “object” away from its immoveable position with a sunny smile and an invite to neutral ground, possibly a place with a water feature like a waterfall or pool.
Mars at 4 degrees Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 9:47 pm Friday. Mars-Neptune aspects are never very good for ordinary robust athleticism, however if one trains oneself in fields that modulate one's energies, with rhythm or done to music, then one can perform very well, and with stamina. Examples are dance, tai chi, swimming, yoga, etc. Also good for poetry, ideals, and artistic skills in general.
ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Tuesday's Mercury-Jupiter sextile is key for you this week. You have a knack for explaining how to do things to children in a way that seems simple and easy, and they take to it right away. If you have any interest in teaching, coaching or tutoring, by all means find a place that will allow you to do so. Must get in some workout time Wednesday. The Thursday eclipse affects your money houses, so keep tabs on changes to your accounts.
TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Ah, this Lunar Eclipse on Thursday might strain you to the max, but you will just reach down deep for some of that excellent fortitude you have, and come up a winner. Friday night favors dancing like mad. Saturday night doesn't favor having friends over unless it is a garden party. Pallas is in Taurus now, and squares Juno; your artistic sense comes to the fore, and you may go into partnership in interior decorating.
GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – Tuesday favors enrolling in a class with a friend, who will make a built-in study buddy. Thursday's eclipse means that health concerns will be uppermost this week and month, either your own or that of the people closest to you. At work, things may go on behind the scenes Friday that you know nothing about, and so a Monday announcement catches you by surprise. You may pick up extra money babysitting this month.
CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Thursday eclipse affects your children and your friends; sometimes this means that friends are not as supportive of your creative efforts as you would like, but push on and new friends will appear. Vesta enters your sign this week, a place that is as close to home for this wandering asteroid as any; duty may call you to take care of a relative, but build in some respite time. Ceres is also in your sign, where an opportunity to play nanny is definitely in the cards.
LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Monday favors career matters altho you could get a call from home. Tuesday favors asking a friend for a referral to a professional person. The opposing pulls of career and family will be triggered by this Lunar Eclipse on Thursday, and your great determination to save what is truly important to you will get you through. Stick to routine on Friday. Saturday afternoon could be good for creative pursuits.
VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo as the week begins, and stays there till early Tuesday. A Sunday morning swim may appeal to you. A female relative may treat you to brunch Sunday. You may be interested in running for school board Monday, but money is an obstacle. Stick to routine matters on Monday, anyway. Your employer might have matching funds for taking a class Tuesday. You may also turn teacher, and look into teaching something like yoga at the health club.
LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Moon is in Libra from 3:25 am Tuesday till Thursday morning. Mom might make a surprise visit Tuesday night. Your mate might be able to explain something to you in a way that helps you understand it completely. Stick to routine on Wednesday. The Lunar Eclipse on your money house may signify a period of smaller personal budgets, so tighten your belt while exploring ways to grow a sideline. Also, keep tabs on changes to your accounts. Best not to work on papers from work Saturday afternoon.
SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio from 6:25 am Thursday till Saturday morning. Things may feel like a tug of war over the next few months, but you will just reach down deep for some of that excellent fortitude you have, and come up a winner. Stick to routine on Friday, although going out for dancing that night is favored. Saturday afternoon finds you in a holiday mood; perhaps a trek to the park or tea shoppe pleases you.
SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag from 7:32 am thru the weekend. Plan your Saturday to get chores and errands out of the way in the morning. Mentally, you may be exhausted in the afternoon and resort to reading a novel or watching the tube. Your children will benefit if you hire a tutor to help them through exams and research papers. Thursday's eclipse means that health concerns will be uppermost this week and month, either your own or that of the people closest to you. On Saturday, you make space at home for dancing.
CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Midday Wednesday brings a surprise gift from a child. Watch the stove or grill carefully Wednesday. The Thursday eclipse affects your children and your friends; sometimes this means that friends are not as supportive of your creative efforts as you would like, but push on a new friends will appear. Friday you may feel like dancing, but have trouble finding a club that plays music you like; maybe play your own records at home instead?
AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Duty calls Monday, so off to work you go. Tuesday favors taking a family trek over to the Children's Museum. The opposing pulls of career and family will be triggered by this Lunar Eclipse on Thursday, and your great determination to save what is truly important to you will get you through. Juno has been in Aquarius some weeks now; perhaps you feel moved to help a mate with their career or educational goals.
PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Your mate offers to babysit the kids so you can meet a friend for Sunday brunch. It is hard Monday to get help finding information. Family members are able to understand appeals for moderation Tuesday when you show them the family finances. This week you consider whether going back to school is feasible. Stick to routine on Friday, although going out dancing at night should be fun. Saturday is just confusing.

Sweet Venus enters its home of Taurus with a sigh of relief at 3:25 am Monday. She tiptoes thru the door and up the stairs to slide in between some soft sheets on a poufy mattress. Let her sleep a bit late today, shall we? Venus in Taurus has a talent for picking up lovely things, but needs to get the hang of sharing them, such as by setting a table with her Waterford crystal and silverware, or loaning an item for a weekend. At the same time, they are genuine in their affections, but note that platonic love is not generally in their vocabulary. They are generally rather talented in music or other arts and have a lovely speaking voice. Famous people with Venus in Taurus include: songbird Doris Day, composer Richard Wagner, Bobby Darin, Ann-Margret, conductor Otto Klemperer, Sir Paul McCartney, and Prince Edward.
The Sun at 26 degrees Aries is conjunct Mars at 8:20 pm Wednesday. That's on a critical degree, so this warlike aspect might have a lot more punch in world events today. Aries wants to be Number One anyway, and with that push from Mars, they can vault over anyone in their way.

An unusual financial partnership may begin this week. A competitive or ambitious coworker may join the staff mid-week. The Moon is in Virgo from 9:08 pm Saturday thru the weekend. Mars and Venus are conjunct at 19 degrees, 58' of Aries at 12:58 am Sunday. There's a whole slate of possible effects this conjunction can bring, and the aspect gains added strength because of the fact that the New Moon on Wednesday is virtually on top of the same degree. On one hand, it can mean arguments about money, or arguments with loved ones – especially if it occurs in a money house. It can mean meeting your knight in shining armor, or someone who resembles one, anyway. It can mean good manners, with a dash or two of chivalry. In games and sports, it can bring high energy along with fair play and a sporting attitude – don't get me wrong, Aries likes to win, but he is so high-minded here that he wants to win by the rules. And of course it can bring added passion to any area of one's life.
Pluto makes a stationary retrograde at 3:32 pm Friday at 11 degrees, 35' of Capricorn. Pluto has to do with death and immortality, with heredity and evolution, with survival of the entity and survival of the race – this is from Dane Rudhyar, and I encourage you to look up old copies of his books. He wrote: “Another illustration, easily understandable, is presented by what occurs in trees during winter. The living fluids of trees withdraw as it were into the roots. The sap hibernates within the great womb of the soil, from which it originally emerged under the individualizing and stem-producing power of springtime. Likewise the ego consciousness of the individual withdraws during sleep into its roots and within the vast all-human wombs of the generic unconscious and of the collective unconscious.”

Mercury enters Aries at 10:37 pm Saturday. Mercury in Aries tends to use violent slang words like kill, slay, etc but usually in sports or in competitive business situations. Can tend to sound like a general giving orders to the troops, he is that overbearing at times. But a mature Aries personality is able to translate that call to battle, if you will, into inspiring his “troops” to make a unified effort and achieve a goal – whether that is a team goal or a company goal or whatever individual goals we have. Can be a real motivational speaker. Can be as quick and witty as Gemini. Often thinks on his feet, and this is an advantage in the military or in sports. The keyword with Aries is always leadership, whether of an army, company, or orchestra, etc. Famous people born with Mercury in Aries include: Carol Burnett, Shirley MacLaine, astronomer Copernicus, conductor Arturo Toscanini, William Shakespeare, Vincent Van Gogh, and that silver-tongued demagogue, Adolf Hitler.
