Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 30-Dec. 6

By Milky Way Maid

Venus is conjunct sugar daddy Jupiter on Monday, Dec. 1. I am sure the wedding will be lovely, altho not extravagant because it is in parsimonious Capricorn. But Jove can never deny Venus anything, so if she asks sweetly enough, and pouts like Bardot, she will get her way. As for us earthlings, corporate America is reassured by the incoming administration, and Wall Street responds with a continued uptick.

My apologies for forgetting to mention that Uranus went direct last Thurs., Nov. 27. Undoubtedly it made holiday preparations and travel rather interesting. At the moment Uranus went direct, Venus accompanied by sugar daddy Jupiter was on the Ascendant (in a Midwest chart), and sextiled Uranus in the third house of short trips and communications.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - The Moon does not enter Aries till Saturday night, but you manage to pack a lot into the week as always. Saturn in your solar sixth house and Venus-Jupiter in your solar tenth, the work houses, reward your hard work and long hours with bonuses and fat paychecks. You may be spending part of this week donating your time to charitable causes, perhaps stuffing food baskets for the holidays, or visiting shut-ins and hospitals. After a long day on your feet, indulge in an Epsom salts bath to ease aches and sore muscles.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Uranus in your solar eleventh house of groups and clubs suggests your time will be spent on charitable projects like gathering donations for a food bank, donating computer equipment to a small school or library, or fundraising. Uranus is in a sextile to Venus-Jupiter, so fund-raising should go surprisingly well. The North Node has been passing thru your career house, signifying a long-term plan has been in progress to lift your aspirations and skills in this area.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - You are usually no slouch when it comes to being a blur of activity, but your spouse or significant other definitely has you beat. The stellium in Sag of Sun, Mercury and Mars puts a lot of your energy into one, keeping up with your spouse, and two, focusing on other-directed programs like personally delivering those turkey dinners, food boxes, or Toys for Tots. Uranus in your solar tenth house may mean that work is on an on-call or temp basis, tho it can also mean you are engaged in electronics, mechanical repair, electrical, psychoanalysis, or music (especially rock or in the recording booth).

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - You will be especially thankful for your kind and generous spouse this month, because generous Venus-Jupiter are in your solar seventh house of partners. You might also find it a boom month for those who work with the public: performers -- even down to those who take the tickets at the door. You also exercise your new electronic toys sending greetings to all your friends and relatives -- and you have a long list to tend to! Taurus and Vesta in your solar eleventh house puts taking care of necessities on the agenda of your favorite local charity. That may mean actually cooking and serving a hot meal for the homeless, or helping at the food bank.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - One of your favorite things about the holiday season is all the special theatrical productions available. Sag on your solar fifth house is very active with Sun, Mercury and Mars all there. You may even enjoy watching sports events as an extra diversion this year, or splurge on season tickets to your fave team. Venus and Jupiter in your solar sixth house of health (and work) tempt you to overdo on sweets and other goodies -- so limit yourself to one pigout a week or you could really have regrets. Besides, you are so proud of your slender waist!

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Ceres in your sign may prompt you to devote time to issues related to homeless or abused women and children. Check if your local shelter has a “want” list of supplies that their guests need. Your solar fourth house is very busy with Sun-Mercury-Mars all in Sag -- you are sure to have a full house of visitors or guests. You are one of the most conscientious of hosts in providing thoughtful touches and healthful meals. One of your few extravagances this year may be a theatre ticket or other entertainment package. Consider a membership in a film club like Green Cine, CafĂ© DVD, Ironweed Films, or Women’s Independent Cinema. These will satisfy your desire for unheralded gems in drama and documentaries.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - The Sag stellium -- Sun, Mercury, Mars -- is in your solar third house of messages, short trips, neighbors, relatives, and the neighborhood or city. I know it’s normal during the holidays; with you it is just more so. This week Tues. night or Wed. during the day look great for get-togethers, but Fri. could be problematic. Reschedule for Sun. night the seventh if either does not work. Your house is beautifully decorated by Venus and Jupiter in your solar fourth. You may even have guests staying over, or throw the doors open for an open house. Entertainment choices this year will tend to be movies or music.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Your solar second house is very active with the stellium in Sag. Be cautious with your funds, and try to avoid racking up credit card debt. You are one sign that is normally really great about putting money into a Christmas Club or buying gifts early, so I kind of doubt that you would get into a hole financially. Neighbors & relatives could be unexpectedly generous with you this year, so have a few small gifts on hand to reciprocate, or to bring to a party. That is much better than holing up with a pile of DVDs, isn’t it? (altho you would be quite happy with that, too) Also try to find some good jokes online that you can repeat in any company.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - You are a blur of activity -- a nice stellium of Sun, Mercury and Mars fires up your engine. You could play Saint Nick for real, as Venus and Jupiter in your solar second house may prompt you to go overboard in gift shopping. A low-cost enjoyment is a local concert at a school or church; check local events calendars. Your house is also ablaze with lights, and maybe a Santa on the roof too. Saturn is in your solar tenth house of career, so your income may have declined, and the bonus may be non-existent -- but you are a great believer in thinking positive, so say yay for 2009 and pass the rum balls.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Venus and Jupiter are conjunct in your sign on Monday, Dec. 1. You will enjoy being with people and may meet someone quite attractive. Watch that extravagance does not dissipate any windfall. Also, marriages begun on this aspect will go wonderfully well. Also the Moon is in Capricorn from Sunday till Monday night. Sunday is fairly quiet except for a sextile between the Moon and Uranus that night. Enjoy a comedy or foreign film.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - The Moon is in Aquarius from Monday night till midday Thursday. Tuesday night is pleasant with a sextile from the Moon to the Sun-Mars conjunction in sporty Sag. Perhaps you will enjoy watching the kids play in a tourney, or engage some friends in a darts match. Wed. the Moon sextiles Mercury in Sag and is inconjunct Saturn in Virgo. Messages or meetings are designed to solve problems and adjust department policies. The Moon is conjunct Neptune that evening, so I am sure you would like to just veg out after a hard day or watch movies.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - The Moon is in Pisces from midday Thursday till Saturday evening. The Moon sextiles Pluto first, putting an accent on research, surgery, and the occult. Then on Friday it squares the stellium in Sag. It can be a frustrating day for Pisces, but also one that poses challenges for the strong of heart. Quit for the day before working to exhaustion on a project, because that is when accidents happen. Let your ideas percolate overnight while you rest.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 23-29, 2008

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury enters Sagittarius Sunday, Pluto enters Capricorn again on Wednesday, Uranus goes direct in Pisces on Thursday, and Venus is applying to a conjunction to her sugar daddy Jupiter the Monday following the holiday. Whew, this is too much going on all at once. Mercury in Sag is very optimistic and this placement will boost the level of messages (and also possibly some telecom stock?). Uranus direct on a holiday might raise the spirituality quotient; it may also prompt more families to play host to an exchange student or reach out to others who are different from themselves.

Jupiter and Saturn just made their long-term trine aspect exact on the 21st; Venus made her conjunction to Pluto back on the eleventh; now she runs from a sextile to Uranus (romance) to a trine to Saturn (commitment?) before dashing off to her favorite sugar daddy (and everyone’s favorite sugar daddy, actually), Jove himself. Not sure if Venus is getting what she wants (the diamond ring and big wedding) or is just settling -- your mileage may vary, as they say.

Other big astro events this week are the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Tues. at 11:52 am Eastern, and the New Moon at 5 degrees Sag on Thurs. at 11:54 am Eastern -- all in Sag. So big-spending, carefree Sag could set the pace for holiday spending this week in a big way. Darn the Dow Jones and full speed ahead, might be their battle cry. The chart for the New Moon is top-heavy in Sag placements, with only Saturn in a wide square from Virgo pulling on the reins (yes there is a T-square shaping up with Uranus on the other leg). Of course you want to have a big fest, and shop for a nice Christmas, but shop for impact. Buy something that looks like a bigger splurge than it is.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - You are the most likely sign to travel this holiday week. All those Sag planets are huddled together in your solar ninth house, all dressed up and getting cranky if you do not show up. Still, the economy being what it is, check around for the best deal you can or use frequent flyer miles. You never know whose job will evaporate next. Restraint at the dinner table is a prudent plan (Saturn in your solar sixth house). While Aries is generally a rugged, energetic sign, you may still find that you need to conserve your energies and be cautious to avoid picking up illnesses from crowds.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - With Saturn in your solar fifth house of parties and entertainment, I do not see you hosting any parties, and you could have a hard time getting in the holiday mood when worrying about footing the bill. Offer to bring your killer apple pie for dessert, and I am sure you will be more than welcome at any get-together. You can trim the cost of hosting a dinner by having guests contribute dishes, and getting the movie from the library. And you are such a wonderful baker as well as cook, you can make many desserts and treats for far less than store-bought.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - Your significant other, the Sag, is in a frenzy over holiday preparations. While you are a great team anyway, I think you might need to do more along the lines of calming him or her down or talking him out of the big splurge to make a statement. Go over some budget targets for gift-buying; evaluate what you already have on hand by way of decorations. You probably have enough in the garage and attic to stock a small store! Get creative about rearranging and so forth to freshen up the presentation. Get the pets into the act and dress them up for the holiday picture…

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - I think you will be far more comfortable with saving money on the card list (Saturn in your solar third house) so you can keep up last year’s level of gift shopping. Sending out e-cards is OK; Emailing everyone a mini-newsletter with pictures is fine. You hate to see anyone give up traveling to the get-together but accommodate everyone’s finances and schedules, and just be glad to get them on the phone.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - On the one hand your personal finances might be a bit constrained by Saturn in your solar second house. On the other hand, it is possible that Leo Luck has or will gift you with a bit of a windfall (Uranus in the solar eighth house). Possibly you could receive some overtime or other bonuses at work, too. If so, share the good fortune and congrats to you. Sag is your solar fifth house of parties and fun, and Sag is a very over stimulated sign this week, shall we say. Assign some little jobs to the kids so they can help out, and you might do a kind of New Moon meditation or have everyone say/write what they want the new month or year to bring them.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Venus and Jupiter in your solar fifth house of parties makes you the most likely candidate for a big splashy holiday get-together. I suspect you have been conscientiously stashing away ingredients and cash for the big splurge. You are a wonderful and considerate host for guests and overnight visitors, and you are acutely aware of details that make a difference. Virgos are as close to perfection as us mere humans can get! Your spouse takes care of the entertainment details. The only caveat: be extra careful of food safety; nothing can be taken for granted, so do not leave food sitting out too long. And NEVER use the same cutting board for raw meat as for other foods.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - The week begins with the Moon still in Libra, and she lingers there until late Monday morn. Librans may feel more constricted by money concerns than most, or at least are worried more about finances. Searching the internet for creative yet budget-conscious recipes can help solve some problems. Check out what different recipes will actually cost before buying all the ingredients and getting a shock. Monday morn also favors research of any kind; could be a good time to price different retailers ahead of the holiday ads. Sag in your solar third house could also put an accent on local events, local fundraisers, neighbors, and your local Main Street retailers as a source of your entertainment and support.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - The Moon is in intense and spiritual Scorpio from late Monday morn till late Wednesday. You probably feel fairly comfortable with your current financial situation, and will hunt for online retailers (Tues-Wed) that offer free shipping or other bonuses that put you ahead of the shopping game. Be sure to check out retailers you are not familiar with so you are not stung by scams or imitations.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - The Moon is in Sag from late Wed. till late Sat. morning. On Turkey Day, not only is there a New Moon in Sag, but the Moon also conjuncts Mercury and Mars. Boom boom boom, there may be too much going on, the kitchen too hot and crowded, and tempers could get short so try not to say things you will regret (especially late Friday). A T-square shapes up between those Sag planets and the long-term opposition between Saturn and Uranus. You want to break free! Agghh, but you don’t want to think about what it will cost you to do things the way you want. Use what you have!

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Venus is rushing toward Jupiter in your sign -- see notes at top of weekly column. The hot date between the greater and lesser benefics is always a boon, so try to schedule important meetings and conferences for the Monday after the holiday, and the family stuff for the holiday weekend. Actually, Saturday is a good day to go on your diet, as you can discipline yourself about treats more easily. It will be easy to fall off the sugar wagon Monday, but just get right back on. Other family members could benefit from you showing them how traditional crafts and recipes were done; it helps strengthen a sense of family belonging while downplaying the commercial side of the holiday.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - Neptune in your sign this holiday season puts you quite in the giving, altruistic spirit of the season. Maybe you limit your altruism to family members, and maybe not, but I think you could start a new tradition of charity in your own circle. Fall back on the people closest to you to pool resources for gifts, entertainment, baking or cooking materials or a place at their table, etc. You might even get a ride with someone to your hometown so you can save on airfare/busfare/whatever.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - Your spouse may be a bit too concerned about having everything perfect. Of course that is just tempting the gods to trip him or her up! Try to make light of any minor snafus and improvise as needed. Of course your dinner table is groaning under the weight of so many lovely and tempting dishes. You may not be able to leave work behind, you could even get called in, and work and the economy will likely be the subject of conversation -- just try to put a positive spin on things. After all, the upside of deflation is that the dollar is worth more! Your best bets for this holiday are friends and clubs for entertainment, suggestions, and the true spirit of the season.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 16-22

By Milky Way Maid
Mars enters Sagittarius on Sunday Nov. 16, adding a real spark of energy and rivalry to the national sports events. Interest should hit some new highs in in teams with a following all over the country. Mars can be quite argumentative, tho, and the public discourse can see more active discussions (OK, arguments) about Sag subjects like religion, law, publishing (copyright?) and higher education. A big scandal could be brewing, too, in any of those fields. Could we possibly see an overhaul of college tuition loans? Could colleges be forced to peel back their fees to something more in line with future earnings of the graduates?

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - Monday could bring an introduction to a very interesting take-charge lady at work -- signified by Venus conjunct the asteroid Juno. A future spouse, perhaps, for a single Aries? At any rate, she will be a real ball of fire -- no mere paper-shuffler -- and she will be just what the old place needs. Both the Sun and Mars are in your solar eighth house, and will conjoin at the end of the month. Make plans now for a nice weekend getaway during the Thanksgiving holiday to recharge your batteries and/or spend some quality time with family and mate.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - Vesta in your sign trines Ceres in its home of Virgo and Venus-Juno conjunct in Capricorn. You earth signs will all be busy cooking and baking your trademark holiday treats, but Virgo brings more concern with healthful ingredients. Some of you may even trade or gift food items, and this is a great way to spread your talents outside your own tiny family circle. Look for a national contest where you can enter your cookie recipe; be able to show how you have substituted healthier ingredients with no loss of flavor, or how you enhance flavor with an unusual technique. Friends contribute insights and tips for cooking or just “hacking life”.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - You have become quite the go-to person for information, and you can whip through a whole spiel in nothing flat. Jupiter is inconjunct Pallas Athena in your sign; if you can apply your factual knowledge creatively to solve problems, an abundance of options will open up for you. In fact, some opportunity might just fall into your lap before you know it, so keep an eye peeled, an ear open, and your Twitter and IM open.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - The Moon is in Cancer from the previous Sat. till Mon. afternoon. The Moon trines Uranus and then opposes Jupiter on Sunday evening, suggesting that you finds lots of enjoyable stuff on the Internet but then blow your holiday budget shopping. Just take note of model numbers or brand names and then shop around locally when the sales flyers come out. The Moon trines Mercury late, so try to get hold of people late that evening and ask what kinds of things the grandkids need, what sizes, etc. Monday morning you are in good spirits early; maybe you hear a witty morning radio show driving in to work, or the web has good reviews of movies to see or avoid, as the case may be.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - The Moon is in Leo from Mon. afternoon till early Wed. evening. Monday morn has a trine between the Moon and Mars right away; everybody stand back while you rush out the door. Please slow down enough to watch for traffic going home, because a Neptune aspect is making some other folks a bit fuzzy-headed (6:30 pm Eastern) and they may not see you coming. Tuesday is a difficult day, sorry, let’s call it a challenging day. You will likely be called upon to solve problems or make adjustments for everything from cash flow to software to repairing machinery. Wed. is less creative, probably, but with more conflicts with a stubborn Scorpio.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - The Moon is in Virgo from early Wed. evening till the wee hours Sat. The Moon first makes a square to Mars in Sag on Wed. evening -- you could get off to a big start on something and then lose interest or get tired out. It can also bring a tiff with a family member. Thurs. midday brings a trine to Venus in Capricorn; a daughter can be a real boon to you, and even take charge of a matter that has you stymied. Friday brings multiple aspects but the big one is the Jupiter is exactly trine Saturn. Unfortunately, your Moon is conjunct the Saturn side, but at least that keeps you level-headed and conscientious. You could miss the opportunities might in front of you tho, so lift up your gaze occasionally.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - The Moon is in Libra from the wee hours Sat. thru the weekend. The Moon sextiles Pluto and then Mars in Sag on Sat. morn, adding fun and energy to local events or neighborly visits. This might mean that local sporting events could generate great interest and enthusiasm, and/or neighbors and relatives join in a spirited pickup game. Next Sunday will be very mixed, and you meet obstacles (perhaps on an art or craft project), have to improvise around them, run into other complications, have to ask an expert or consult the wiz family member, etc.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - Mercury and the Sun are in your sign. Mercury sextiles Jupiter in Capricorn and both are inconjunct Pallas in Gemini, so get in touch with a neighbor or relative, and call up a Gemini maven to figure out how to solve a problem of yours. Also the Moon squares your Sun and Mercury on Wed. morning, which may mean a bit of a conflict with a boss or supervisor. Make sure you did not misunderstand anything, and that your comments are not misconstrued as something you did not mean!

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - Mars enters your sign this Sunday in the wee hours; you could wake up raring to dash out the door for a run or hike. But make sure to do those warmup and stretching moves first, or you could be out for the season with a walking cast. The Sun enters your sign Friday afternoon; your happy-go-lucky mood is back. And lastly, Mercury also enters your sign Sat., which tends to bring more calls, emails, and other messages with it. Everyone wants to have their holiday party with you.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Mercury sextiles Jupiter in your sign on Sunday morning. This favors any mental activity, but actually just chatting with a friend is the most likely avenue of useful information (Mercury is in your solar eleventh house of friends and groups). Email or call if you cannot visit each other in person. That evening is not so harmonious with your significant other, as the Moon opposes the same Jupiter. Make nice with the spouse, let her make the decisions -- you want some peace, right? Venus and Juno have entered your sign and are conjunct Monday; boss ladies take the reins and everything will get done to perfection. In other words, just get out of their way.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - Monday afternoon or evening is not favored for trying to think your way thru a problem or balance your checkbook; have someone look at your work or bounce ideas off another person. A solution to a problem from Wed. comes to you Friday morning; it requires a bit of flexibility and creativity on the part of all concerned, so you might have to do a bit of a selling job to get cooperation.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - Conflict may be brewing with a family member, and it may actually have you quite upset. But a little mutual respect goes a long way toward resolving differences. Meanwhile, Virgo and Capricorn spouses and friends put together some terrific plans for the holidays for all concerned. You can contribute by collecting some good jokes to tell and practicing delivering them in front of the mirror. (Psst, but don’t tell any jokes at the expense of anyone else!)

Economic Forecast for the Christmas Shopping Season

Having spent several years tracking the behavior of Christmas shoppers by the timing of Mercury stations, retrogrades and direct motion, I find that all that history is not applicable to the upcoming Christmas shopping season. Mercury is not retrograde any part of the holiday season proper; in fact, the last retrograde was Sept. 25 thru Oct. 15, ending right about the time all heck broke loose in the stock market.

Nevertheless, I will plunge onward with a stab at the behavior of shoppers this holiday season by looking at the flavors, so to speak, of the personal planets during these last few weeks of the year.

Let’s start with Mercury. Mercury is not getting any boost from a direct station during this time frame, as I mentioned above. It entered serious and spiritual Scorpio on Nov. 5, and then quickly enters happy-go-lucky Sagittarius on Nov. 24. This puts shoppers in a more optimistic mood in time for the kickoff of the official holiday shopping season. Sag is a free spender, but is also notorious for buying multiples of something, so stores that offer two for one or buy X number and get one free should do well with that.

Sag rules publishing -- so books sales should do reasonably well -- and law, religion and higher education. Perhaps grandparents will chip in something to their grandchildrens’ college funds rather than spend it on something that is disposable.

Venus and Jupiter, the two benefics, will be in serious-minded Capricorn (Venus from Nov. 13 till Dec. 8 when it slips into Aquarius). These two planets also be accompanied by the asteroid Juno, the wife or she-who-must-be-obeyed. Jupiter trines Saturn (plus asteroid Ceres) in earth sign Virgo and Vesta in the other earth sign Taurus (at least till Dec. 6). This earth trinity focuses on the practical, the durable, and on what you can produce yourself. Some may choose to exchange home-made gifts (Cappy and Taurus) or services/lessons (Virgo)with each other. Others may keep an eye to hard goods and supplies for making one’s own whatever, or things needed to start a sideline that brings in a second income stream.

An example: a plow attachment for one’s pickup truck so one can solicit local contracts to clear parking lots. Another example: spouting one’s own herbs in containers on the windowsill, to save on expensive store-bought seasoning. One might also turn a hand to making at least some of one’s own clothing or doing your own repairs, so that could mean buying your first sewing machine and lessons. More men may elect to change their own car’s oil and other basic maintenance rather than go in to the shop for everything.

Another note to keep in mind as you read the reports on how merchants are doing -- my thoughts are that shoppers will tend to cling to old reliable merchants that have been around awhile because of this heavy Capricorn and earth-sign influence. So stores like JC Penney, or even Sears and Abercrombie & Fitch, could see more shoppers who want to know that the store will still be there after Dec. 26 to accept exchanges. (I mention Penney’s because Bill Meridian mentioned that chain as due for an upswing over the next six months in a recent column.)

Vesta in Taurus trine Ceres in Virgo also will keep the accent on putting out a bountiful spread for holiday dinners. Taurus always likes to feed people anyway, and Virgo will bring healthful versions of old favorites, with less fat, omitting the GMO ingredients, and substituting organic as much as possible.

When Venus enters altruistic Aquarius on Dec. 6, the public may turn more to charitable giving than to spending still more on “stuff”. And families may schedule more group activities like attending city tree-lighting ceremonies or helping out with food banks. Aquarius may also give a late kick on sales of electronic items such as computers, printers, phones and software.

Mars enters the season in Scorpio. Mars in this position is quite the vulture shopper, as I call them. They shop where there are distressed sellers, and so those stores such as Mervyns that are liquidating their inventory in holiday sales before closing will be quite popular. Mars will enter Sagittarius on Nov. 17, where it will later be joined by Mercury. These two planets in the stock-up sign Sag will have a ball clearing out the shelves of vendors who offer deals on multiples -- the aforementioned “buy two, get one free” kind of thing.

Again, I do not see any burst of pent-up shopping desire, or any even necessarily any insistence on mark-downs. But the emphasis is on getting value for one’s dollar and buying items that will be used for a while. I see less buying of electronics gadgets and silly stuff, except for that rather late spike when Venus enters Aquarius. Vendors like Best Buy and Radio Shack will not be too pleased with that, and will have to work very hard to get shoppers attention in the immediate post-Thanksgiving week.

Best wishes for a happy holiday season, and I hope that your dreams have not all been shelved for another year.

Saturn's Aurora and Moon Enceladus in the News

Saturn’s Moon did Cosmic Flop
Saturn's moon Enceladus might have rolled over on its side sometime in the past, a suggestion that would account for a strange finding made by the Cassini spacecraft.
Why is there a hot spot only at the south pole?
There is a way to possibly confirm that the moon flipped. Its former leading hemisphere should have had more impact craters than the trailing hemisphere. If it flipped 90 degrees, the pattern of craters now present would reveal as much. Read the whole story at:

Saturn’s Aurora Dazzles with Mysterious Light
"We've never seen an aurora like this elsewhere," said Tom Stallard, an RCUK Academic Fellow working with Cassini data at the University of Leicester. "It's not just a ring of aurorae like those we've seen at Jupiter or Earth. This one covers an enormous area across the pole. Our current ideas on what forms Saturn's aurorae predict that this region should be empty, so finding such a bright one here is a fantastic surprise."
Saturn's main aurora, which is caused by the solar wind, changes size dramatically as the wind varies.
The newly observed aurora at Saturn, however, doesn't fit into previously identified categories…Read the whole story at:

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 9-15

By Milky Way Maid

A Full Moon in Taurus, the sign of its exaltation, is gifted us on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 1:17 am Eastern at 21 degrees 15 minutes of Taurus. This is a good moon for practical matters, but also for harvesting the earth’s bounty after a hard summer’s labor to make this happen. Give thanks to the earth and the grace of your god that you were able to bring in this harvest -- either a literal or figurative harvest, we’re not picky here. Since Taurus is also the sign of singers, it might be appropriate to sing on this day. Any song will do, but preferably something that raises your spirits.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 - The Moon is in Aries from midday Sunday till early afternoon Tuesday, Veterans Day. Monday morning sees changes made in wills or other papers concerning legacies and insurance. The evening has two interesting aspects from the Moon to Sun in Scorpio and to Saturn in Virgo. This can favor creative projects but also brings a fated quality, too; you can win a contest or award that seems out of reach. On Tuesday, your Moon trines first Venus then Pluto; this favors reaching down deep for your best effort. It also focuses attention on generational matters like wills, again, but also adding to the family. A new child or grandchild grows the family tree. Also a good time to socialize from 8 pm Eastern till Moon enters Taurus.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 - The Moon is in Taurus from midday Tuesday till midday Thursday. The Moon trines Jupiter and sextiles Uranus Wed. night; look for a modest but nice windfall. Thursday brings a Full Moon in Taurus, sensual and comfortable (see general note above). The Moon also opposes Mars and squares Neptune, making for a difficult day if you try to force issues with someone who would rather not discuss it. Think about how serious is the issue and decide matters accordingly.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 - The Moon is in Gemini from midday Thursday till midday Saturday. Friday afternoon, you may try to talk with someone who is normally pretty close-mouthed, and square away any misunderstandings you may have. The day can also bring an upset with regard to work or a parent, so make sure that you accurately understand what the other party is saying. The evening’s trine to Neptune favors a night at the movies or listening to music. Saturday opens with a chance to clear things up with (or swap chores with) a significant other.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 - Monday may be your most significant day with transiting Sun in Scorpio trining Uranus in Pisces; all you water signs probably have a great time planned. The aspect affects your solar fifth and ninth houses, so either you or your children may be signing up for college courses, possibly in artistic fields. Your spouse, too, may be going to classes. Meanwhile, I hope you are not languishing in an empty nest; indulge in your own hobbies and interests. Even if that only means going to the library.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 - Your solar fourth house of home and family is quite active, with Mercury, Sun and Mars all bunking there for the time being. Aspects to Uranus in Pisces may bring a surprise announcement about an addition to the family, whether by marriage or birth or even adoption. The Full Moon in Taurus activates your tenth house of career, although it can also bring tensions with family and spouse because of job demands. How much are you willing to sacrifice and compromise, while maintaining your values? And what are your real values anyway?

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 - Mercury acts as messenger between your Saturn and with Jupiter in Capricorn. This can mean anything from A) a relative carries messages to a prospective beau, to B) a neighbor (or neighborhood party) is a fun occasion to circulate and try new things. Don’t be a spoilsport and go. The Full Moon in Taurus activates your solar ninth house of law, college, publishing and religion. Matters related to those fields will come to the front burner, but don’t expect easy solutions. An absent person can make it difficult to decide what your new plans should be, and I cannot offer any quick fix for that. But do not make the mistake of going behind that person’s back and deciding anything for him. You’ll regret that!

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 - Libra is always a bit sad when the last leaves fall and end Mother Nature’s spectacular show. Time to hit the library, one of your fave places, and dig up some lovely new titles to read while curled in front of the fire. Librans also enjoy museums and galleries, so check the listings for free admission times and other public events. Your ruler Venus is getting hot and heavy with Pluto, then dashing into Capricorn. I think she has relationship issues, or maybe just likes being a career girl (or being with a career man), but at any rate you prefer a happy ending with a big wedding and lots of flowers. Rent a Julia Roberts movie for that.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 - - Busy, busy Scorpio in the fall, especially with the Full Moon in your opposite sign Taurus. It can feel like things are coming to a head, with this T-square between the personal planets Mercury, Sun and Mars in Scorpio, Moon and Vesta in Taurus, and Neptune in Aquarius. That usually means that things are expressed thru the fourth, empty leg -- Leo in this case. Or in your case, your solar tenth house of career and reputation. You may have to really work to get an interview, or put a huge effort into a juried show (but wind up winning a prize); in other words, nothing will be handed to you but you can make a great impression nevertheless.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 - Saggy, Venus is leaving you this week to take up with her next beau, Cappy. She’s looking for security, Sag, something you don’t understand and can’t give her. Let her go. Meanwhile your money house and career are on an upswing, as Jupiter and Saturn hold a trine aspect. You work hard but the money is pretty good. Uranus in the fourth house is nagging at you tho; maybe you don’t know if the house you rent will be repossessed or what. Hang in there because after this month the issue will ease off.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 - Venus enters dour and somber Capricorn on Wednesday, which probably doesn’t make Venus too happy. But she was spending too much money in Sag, so now Cappy is cracking down, putting her on an allowance. Sometimes a lonely Cappy will happily be her little sugar daddy, and if that’s OK with you then it’s OK with me. That Full Moon in Taurus, your solar fifth house, also fits the theme of blossoming romance or at least fun n games.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 - The Taurus Full Moon is in your solar fourth house. The accent is on your home and family for the next fortnight at least. A Taurus full moon is a wonderful, warm nurturing moon, one that takes care of the family’s material needs and comforts. It’s the soup that warms you, and the backrub after raking leaves all morning. It is also possible that you may buy a new home, or make adjustments on your existing loan.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 - Pisces welcomes the Taurus Full Moon in her solar third house of communications, relatives and neighbors. She likes putting together the plans for the upcoming holidays, who brings what. She likes putting together the agenda of local holiday events to attend, and who to invite along. And she likes finding the great local bakery that makes the special holiday treats, the local flower shop that carries the best and most unusual holiday greenery, and the regional wineries with their unique varietals for your family banquets.

Congrats to Obama the Princeling on his Election Victory.

My heartiest congratulations to the new president-elect, Barack Obama, and best wishes for the new administration. Maybe you read my article about the princely and royal points activated in his birth chart. You can read that article here --

Also I wanted to note that there was a Neptune station the Sunday before the election. At first I thought that I was not too keen about this station. But then it was further activated by a sextile to Venus, exact on the Wednesday after the election (7:56 am eastern time).

I interpret a Venus sextile to Neptune as very idealistic and hopeful. So which campaign offered themes more aligned with hope and ideals? Um, would you say that the Obama campaign iterated strong vibrations of hope and idealism? I would say so too.
