Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 4-10, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 12 degrees Leo trines Uranus in Aries at 11:05 am Sunday. You're full of restless energy under this transit. You may have sudden interest or sudden insights into subjects like the sciences, electronics, computers, psychology, the occult in general and astrology in particular. But you will not be able to just sit in a chair and read about these subjects. You will want to get up and out and try things out for yourself. Kind of like good ol' Ben Franklin going out in the storm with a kite. . .

We have a New Moon at 5:51 pm Wednesday at 14 degrees, 35' Leo – virtually on top of the asteroid Vesta. The Moon trines Uranus at midday and Jupiter is applying to the opposition to Pluto. There's a lot of focused energy on Leo this week and month, so pay attention to what sector this occupies in your natal chart. If your tenth house, you may find a new job or otherwise be in the spotlight. If fifth house, children and creative pursuits are energized.

Jupiter at 9 degrees Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn at 7:34 pm Wednesday. Jupiter is also conjunct Pallas Athena, the professional, the career girl, the lawyer or ombudsman or other expert advisor. You may need the lawyer because this transit often signifies trouble with the law – so it is imperative to observe all the rules and regulations, or face the music.

Mercury enters Leo at 8:13 am Thursday. Sometimes Leo acts as if what he has to say is more important than anyone else's thoughts. Leos do have a theatrical effect when they speak, altho this can either enhance or destroy the impact of what they say depending on whether they really believe their own message. But when they remember to express all the love they have for humanity in that big heart of theirs, they can lift everyone up and inspire true loyalty. When you think about it, mind (Mercury) plus heart (Leo) is just about unbeatable, and makes others really sit up and listen. Obviously the stage is one place where this Mercury can express itself, but the classroom is just as good a “stage”, too; some may prefer roles behind the scenes such as directing or designing sets.

Famous people with Mercury in Leo include: singers Jimmy Dean, Eddie Fisher, Merv Griffin (before he hosted a talk show), trumpeter Louis Armstrong, artist Marc Chagall, coach Casey Stengel, drummer Ringo Starr, writer Ernest Hemingway, and dictator Napoleon Bonaparte.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. NOTE: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIES - March 20-April 19 – Uranus in your sign is trined by Wednesday's New Moon in Leo (Uranus is also exactly trined by the Sun on Sunday); you may be rather surprised to see that a child of yours has gotten an unusual talent from you. This may mean that you spend some time coaching your child on the fine points of this new talent. By the same token, this may otherwise mean that you develop some latent talent or bring it out to the sunshine for others for admire.

TAURUS - April 20-May 20 – Ruler Venus in practical Virgo receives a semi-sextile from Ceres this week; you may experiment with putting up jams or other sweets. Wednesday's New Moon in Leo accents home and family, with the conjunction to Vesta offering a haven in the safe harbor of relatives. Friday night's Moon-Venus conjunction in your solar fifth house promises a charming time with the children. Saturday afternoon you exchange promises of help with a parent.

GEMINI - May 21-June 20 – You and a friend attend a local exhibition Sunday or Wednesday, and it opens up a new world for you. The New Moon midweek highlights finances or taxes, which may come up for review or audit. Ruler Mercury moves into your solar third house, the natural home of Mercury, on Thursday. The phone rings off the hook, and the email in-box is full. You may even have to fill in for a supervisor on vacation. You enjoy getting off work early on Friday afternoon, and possibly baking or babysitting.

CANCER - June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from Sunday till midday Monday. Early risers (6 am) will have plenty of energy for everything on their to-do list. If you tarry till 8 am, you might bake some fresh pastries for breakfast. At midday you could be struck by a thunderbolt telling you how to make your first million. Stick to routine Monday morning. Your boss may seem rather erratic, but he or she does appreciate your efforts and may surprise you with a modest bonus or perk.

LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 – Sunday you may take off on a long trip to foreign soil, or at least plan for it. The Moon is in Leo from 12:58 pm Monday till late Wednesday. Late Monday may be emotionally restrained, good I suppose for delivering bad news. Midday Tuesday you are eager to be off exploring new worlds. You crave recognition of any kind in late afternoon. Stick to routine Wednesday, but do guard your health as always. Friday afternoon brings a promise or a swap of favors.

VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo from 11:57 pm Wednesday till Saturday morning. You might be fuzzy-headed on your Thursday morning commute so get that second cuppa java. By mid-morn you have hit your stride and are knocking off chores like tenpins. Early evening favors dinner with a mentor or wise advisor. Mid-morning Friday favors giving speeches or pep talks to the local club meeting. Early evening favors meeting a loved one, or trading favors with a dear friend.

LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Late Monday a friend may beg you for a loan, but you do know better than to say Yes, don't you? Wednesday may be the most stressful day because of the opposition across your solar fourth and tenth houses; you may have a fantastic career offer but it takes you away from family. Friday afternoon and evening are quite lovely with Venus beaming down on your secret family hideaway. The Moon is in Libra from 9:08 am Saturday till next Monday afternoon. Saturday afternoon favors anything mentally-challenging.

SCORPIO - Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Your work and career houses are activated by a trine Sunday; check job listings for something completely different. The New Moon on Wednesday repeats the theme of career; you may latch onto something that you didn't know you needed in terms of job challenges. Information is the theme for Wednesday night; Jupiter conjunct Pallas may represent a lawyer or advocate who can cut through red tape for you.

SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Sunday's Sun-Uranus trine combines with your personal natal planets to make a grand trine in fire; do take time to do some brainstorming, and take note of even the silliest ideas to pass thru your brain. Wednesday's New Moon accents your creative pursuits, when you find just the thing you need. Mercury enters Leo Thursday, when you might consider enrolling in a class again. Friday afternoon makes you happy because you find someone to cover for you.

CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – An unusual or foreign member of the extended family crosses your horizon this month; it's like having your own exchange student. Wednesday's New Moon accents joint funds or pooled funds, when you might look at insurance or other investments. Friday afternoon you are happy to arrange a trade of professional services with a friend. Note: stick to routine on Monday morning, Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Friday night.

AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – An unusual relative may turn you on to a new hobby or interest, something where you can shine as never before. New Moon in Leo on Wednesday may put you in the public eye; make sure your shoes are polished. The pattern is repeated with Mercury's entry into your solar seventh house, where you may do more public speaking. Also Mercury here may bring a doppelganger into your life; sounds interesting. Friday afternoon may bring a referral for a good insurance agent or tax man.

PISCES - Feb. 18-March 19 – Health matters are strongly accented this week by the New Moon in Leo on Wednesday, and by the Jupiter-Pluto opposition that same night, plus the entry of Mercury into Leo on Thursday. This is quite a pattern here and I hope that you receive more good news than bad. In other news, the lovely Moon-Venus conjunction makes it easy to cuddle up with your spouse Friday afternoon and just enjoy summer beauty. Saturday influences encourage creativity.
