Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Dear Readers--
I missed a column in January due to illness. I was in Intensive Care for a few days; my doctors are still running some tests. I'd appreciate your keeping me in mind for the near future while I mend. Thanks so much!

The Sun at 9 degrees Aquarius is sextile Uranus in Aries at 3:33 am Wednesday. Sun-Uranus aspects have to do with declaring one's independence and asserting one's uniqueness. We may resemble a rebel without a cause. We may break out of our ruts, and even play hookey from school or work. Insights can arrive without really working for them. Mentally, this transit favors study of any kind, because your alert, curious mind can comprehend and accept ideas more readily and more quickly.

Jupiter at 12 degrees Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn at 4:36 am Friday. This is probably a generational transit rather than a personal one. Opposition by the oligarchy (Pluto) can be strongly against progressive politics (Jupiter). On a personal level, one is obliged to keep to the straight and narrow lest the law (Jupiter) and/or police (Pluto) clip your wings a bit. (I am reminded of Jesus' trip to Jerusalem, where he worked to challenge both the religious and Roman authorities, while trying to maintain silence on the subject of whether he was the Messiah or not.)

Mercury enters Pisces at 9:29 am Friday. Mercury in Pisces far prefers the private world of fantasy to dry and nasty reality. Mercury here can be amazingly intuitive, although Pisces often fears expressing her intuitions in the face of ridicule or laughter. Mature Pisces natives can communicate their visions of a better way of life, birthing ideals into a healing force in the real world. The Piscean mind is not basically scientific, but it can absorb information and do well enough in an academic setting to graduate. If Mercury here is well aspected, denotes a creative imagination. Famous people with Mercury in Pisces include: opera singers Adelina Patti and Leontyne Price, author Victor Hugo, Eugene McCarthy, Earl Warren, Sidney Poitier, Princes Edward and Andrew, poet Robert Frost, and W E B DuBois.

Venus makes her direct station at 13 degrees, 34' Capricorn at 3:49 pm Friday. As I have explained before, based on reading Dane Rudhyar and other astrologers, the Venus retrograde period allows us to have a “change of heart” – about a specific person or about our values in general (balancing values of people vs money). During the retrograde, it can be awkward or difficult to relate to others, or we may doubt the sincerity of the Other, or feel let down. On December 21, Venus went retrograde at 28 degrees, 58' of Capricorn. In 2012, Venus went retrograde on May 15 and direct on June 27. Possibly reflecting on the 2012 period will reveal insights useful to understanding the current retrograde and direct motions. Venus represents magnetism, and during the retrograde it might be best to try not to attract whatever or whoever we most desire, because we may inadvertently drive them away. Wait till after the direct station (Jan. 31) to try to spread your nets. Then Venus is your friend again, and can function normally as the prime attractor in your life.
